Combine with a radio station that only seems to realize 3 songs exist and plays them in an endless loop and you have a recipe for the worst work environment of your life.

[–]DestroyerOfWombs 136 points137 points ago

Aaaaand we're all talking about KISSFM

[–]theryman 35 points36 points ago

or The Mix

[–]Psythik 34 points35 points ago

Or Hot 97.

[–]PorkTORNADO 29 points30 points ago

or HOT 995

[–]homewrddeer 28 points29 points ago

I fucking HATE 995

[–]MrConfucius 7 points8 points ago

107.1 is now electro for me. I'm happy.

[–]DoctorLexus 3 points4 points ago

Yeah it's nice but the reception is shit unless you're downtown.

[–]cherrycoke44 3 points4 points ago

Capital FM here

[–]PolardOOd 2 points3 points ago

I know none of these stations. At work, my sister puts on some country music station. Personally I never listen to the radio...fucking commercials.

[–]wonderlandslost 8 points9 points ago

Or KHOP(95.1). That channel is cringe worthy.

[–]Liefx 2 points3 points ago

91.5 the beat

[–]sgtpepper1990 5 points6 points ago

Or 94.1 WQZK.

[–]Hellothereawesome 8 points9 points ago

Better stick to vice city's 96fm

[–]mysticdickstick 15 points16 points ago

TIL KISSFM sucks wherever in the world you are (representing Berlin/Germany)

[–]milford81 2 points3 points ago

Today you can also learn that all these radio stations are brought to you by scumbag Clearchannel.

[–]Creepyteacher 13 points14 points ago

Hey! A guy from Washington! We Washington Redditors are a rare and timid species.

[–]Jonovox 7 points8 points ago

The weather's been phenomenal these past two days, hasn't it?

[–]Creepyteacher 11 points12 points ago

Shhhh... Don't let other know that it is sunny here sometimes. NOPE IT ALWAYS RAINS HERE 24/7!

[–]Jonovox 7 points8 points ago

Oh yes, I meant that it was raining, I love the rain more than anything else in the world!

[–]tasuret 2 points3 points ago

Actually, he's a guy from any place. I'm in OK, and we have KISS FM. Also, KJ 103. Fuck that station. I was trying to eat a southern chicken biscuit and trip hop came on. I can't eat when trip hop is playing. It feels wrong.

[–]Jigsus 1 point2 points ago

KISSFM is an international brand. You'll find them on all continents.

[–]BeethovenFanatic 5 points6 points ago

Holy shit I hate KISSFM.

[–]ramen_feet 9 points10 points ago

WAIT. Is kiss not just in Seattle?!

[–]AllDizzle 7 points8 points ago

Kiss is nation wide bro.

[–]bolm 1 point2 points ago

International. Got it in Finland.

[–]MrE2Me 6 points7 points ago

We have it in LA. 102.7

[–]Shocking 4 points5 points ago

its KIIS in LA

[–]Wattisright 2 points3 points ago

We even have it in Berlin. And the 3 songs description still fits.

[–]ramen_feet 1 point2 points ago

now THAT is pretty cool. I guess the world really is more connected than anyone can imagine!

[–]Lymah 1 point2 points ago

I've heard different stations using the same handle. Like one state has it playing country and one plays hip hop

And some are legit the same station in random spots around the country

[–]vodkalime 1 point2 points ago

Nope. I think it may be some kind of franchise or something.

[–]bitter_cynical_angry 3 points4 points ago

Clear Channel Communications. These guys bought up a shitload of radio stations and other media outlets in the early 2000s, and they share their playlists and ads and crap.

[–]jdawggey 1 point2 points ago

I'm pretty sure KUBE is a lot worse than KISS. (Mukilteo, standing by)

[–]efischerSC2 1 point2 points ago

I had the same thought! I'm thinking, "wait... KISS isn't a Pittsburgh-Only station?!"

96.1 KISS FM

[–]NJ_Lyons 17 points18 points ago

Jack FM.

[–]Givants 19 points20 points ago

Jack fm is cool.

[–]NJ_Lyons 13 points14 points ago

It's got nice variety.

[–]LerithXanatos 4 points5 points ago

I get the style of the station, but the DJs are crazy. Sometimes they choose metal to follow The Turtles or some shit.

[–]Mouseygal 3 points4 points ago

I like their "we play what we want, and fuck off if you don't like it" attitude. Also they play minimal Adele.

[–]meant2live218 5 points6 points ago

Did you mean:

KIISFM ?

[–]blockhead123 2 points3 points ago

Z fun 106.1

[–]Mage_tank 1 point2 points ago

Was KISSFM. Now it's, what...98.1, I think? The Fox?

Edit: Moved from Woodbridge/Dumfries to Louisville.

[–]Wysteriat 28 points29 points ago

Buy one of those car-radio iPod transmitters and block/staticize the station

[–]oyofmidworld 6 points7 points ago

If only that would help me... I work in a warehouse and my coworkers have a radio. I have no other choice but to hear this song and that "I'm so proud of you" song over and over and over.

[–]Wysteriat 19 points20 points ago

I meant use it to jam their radio signal

[–]oyofmidworld 10 points11 points ago

Ohhh, I misunderstood. In that case, thank you... thank you.

[–]LVKRFT 5 points6 points ago

transmitters work wirelessly as long as its in close proximity of the antenna of said radio you can block their station. If the signal is weak enough you can then play your music on the radio.

[–]FUCK_WIZARD 52 points53 points ago

SOMEONE LIKE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU

WE FOUND LOVE IN A HOPELESS PLACE

WHAT DOESNT KILL YOU MAKES YOU STRONGER, STRONGER

CALIFORNIA GIRLS WE'RE UNFORGETTABLE

THIS IS THE PART OF ME THAT YOU'LL NEVER EVER EVER TAKE AWAY FROM ME(I'm actually pretty sure this song has no other lyrics)

Repeat ad infinitum and you have what my office sounds like, fuck.

Miami has a really shitty airport. I had to sleep on the floor there once.

[–]Psythik 1 point2 points ago

Are you me?

[–]FUCK_WIZARD 8 points9 points ago

Drake - Neutral leaning towards annoying

Rick Ross...actually I ain't too mad at that.

Rihanna's just awful.

Fucking Adele, I hadn't heard of her until some asshole on reddit called me a "hipster idiot" for not knowing who she was, and my life has gotten maybe .08% worse since that fateful day.

Pitbull...why.

[–]taylorm6707 57 points58 points ago

I'm sorry bro...so sorry...

[–]sierrabravo1984 21 points22 points ago

I have to deal with this every day. My wife listens to one of those channels, and not only do they play songs that are already repeated lyrics as maynaise stated, but they also edit the song so that literally all the song says is that one catch chorus.

[–]rvauofrsol 11 points12 points ago

But she has nice qualities, right?

[–]throw_a_weigh11 7 points8 points ago

Nope, just that taste in music.

[–]Snoopy7393 2 points3 points ago

No, he's just a masochist.

[–]silenc3x 1 point2 points ago

No, she murders kittens.

[–]BrainInAJar 16 points17 points ago

[–]topdawg312 18 points19 points ago

Blazin' at least 18 of the same jams in a row!

[–]fiddlercrabs 6 points7 points ago

"We fell in love with a hobo's face"

[–]rustyplastic 6 points7 points ago

I'm gonna practically yell this when that song comes on now.

[–]Manwithabeverage 27 points28 points ago

The worst is when you hear a song on the radio at work you actually like. They you know. This song is gonna be beaten to death, and Im being forced to listen to it die.

[–]DrPepper86 52 points53 points ago

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, you better run, better run...

[–]thesundeity 49 points50 points ago

now you're just somebody that i used to know.

[–]smackababy 28 points29 points ago

We'll all float on, alright...

[–]IsayNigel 7 points8 points ago

Hey now that song is a classic

[–]this__one 9 points10 points ago

I just heard this song for the first time yesterday, and this comment makes me sad.

[–]thesundeity 8 points9 points ago

the first time i heard it i thought "why the fuck is sting on the alternative rock station?"

[–]RangerAhab 7 points8 points ago

Hearing my music die is one thing I can deal with.

Knowing I'm getting old and my "classic rock" station went from playing Steely Dan and is now playing Pearl Jam and Soundgarden is another.

[–]DarkyHelmety 1 point2 points ago

Totally, in my case add to that coworkers who will pun / repeat / scream obscenities about that song every day for the next month and a half every time it comes on or someone mentions something that may be in relation to a topic of that song and you have my personal hell. It's funny the first few times but eventually it just needs to be put to rest.

[–]Boycubpiglet 1 point2 points ago

Happened to the song 'Walk' by the Foo Fighters for me. Bought their album day 1, loved the song, then radio got its hands on it.

[–]Psythik 4 points5 points ago

I still don't understand why FM radio does this. It's like they expect people to tune in once for a couple of hours and never listen again.

[–]notsurewhatiam 5 points6 points ago

Up vote because similar work experience. Also ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS NOW STOP .

[–]bolm 1 point2 points ago

Collaborate and listen

[–]oyofmidworld 1 point2 points ago

FUCK. I forgot that one. I always just imagine 8 dudes in a writing room high fiving each other after they finished that masterpiece.

[–]UhCrunch 3 points4 points ago

But then you get off work on payday and you're like.

[–]walrusman0 2 points3 points ago

Gold's Gym?

[–]Inquisitor1 1 point2 points ago

Malls.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]HugoWeaver 1 point2 points ago

The worst part is after driving for an hour listening to that song a minimum of 5 times on the stupid radio, to get to the closest club to you because you live in a goddamn country town, only for the first song you hear to be a remixed version of that?

Fuck, that just ruins my night right there.

[–]Mr_Bog 5 points6 points ago

I would love to hear that mashup.

[–]nessinn 21 points22 points ago

Isn't that a Calvin Harris song though?

I like his music, i am not listening to it for the lyrics. It's dance music, especially that song

[–]xCruise 9 points10 points ago

Yup. Awesome track. Totally banging. It's really intresting how Calvin Harris, Avicii, and Jack Back/David Guetta all have top hits in the states right now and people don't really know who they are (maybe less so Avicii and even less Guetta). It's like you can see what is at the top of the EDM charts in the rest of the world, wait a month, and hear the songs under some pop artist's name (Flo Rida, Rihanna).

It's actually really great and being an EDM fan/hobby DJ it's great. Hopefully they will start getting to the top of the charts without a frivolous verse from Flo Rida. Also, the vocals on original mix of "Wild One Two" (without Flo Rida), sound so much better.

[–]GreatGrate 4 points5 points ago

When Calvin Harris reached the top 100, I almost shat myself in joy. My hope in popular music was restored. Feel So Close is in the top 10 right now, and that makes me so happy.

[–]BenRT 1 point2 points ago

Feel So Close is sick, unfortunately it's never really played at clubs

[–]606031 12 points13 points ago

What bothers me is that the actual innovators don't get mentioned. It appears to Americans with Rihanna as the artist, it should be labeled as Calvin Harris (feat. Rihanna). She's a repeat offender too, also took Jamie xx's "I'll Take Care Of You" remix of Gil-Scott Heron with no mention of the source.

[–]runasone 3 points4 points ago

That's probably Drake's fault though, the track was on his album.

[–]UpwardFall 1 point2 points ago

The first time I heard the Drake/Rihanna "I'll Take Care of You", I almost shit myself thinking Jamie xx was actually on the radio. Turns out he was, but with a shitty rap/cover over it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

yes. this.

[–]Boycubpiglet 1 point2 points ago

To be fair we also can't ever pick out when a sample is used in a song. I get pissed at all my friends when I hear a sample of a classic used in a modern song and they all give credit to the guy who remixed it.

[–]jmad202 3 points4 points ago

So deep...

[–]cameron432 1 point2 points ago

FUCK YOU YOU SON OF A BITCH THAT SONG IS STUCK IN MY HEAD!!

[–]latecraigy 6 points7 points ago

NEVER MIND I'LL FIND SOMEONE LIKE YOU

You're welcome!

[–]Sven2774 3 points4 points ago

I heard the local pop station play One More Time years ago, and more recently they played Pumped Up Kicks a few months back. Aside from some Lupe Fiasco, that is the only good music they have ever played.

edit: Radio station is B96 for those familiar with it. Mainly, everyone in Chicago.

[–]p0diabl0 1 point2 points ago

What irks me about that song is that it could be so much better if it just had a goddamn proper chorus.

[–]melake14 1 point2 points ago

California King Bed is actually deeper however, and i dont mean its a tempurpedic trolls

[–]Grand_Theft_Audio 1 point2 points ago

the 'repeat' made this.

[–]AllDizzle 1 point2 points ago

Hey at least she didn't spend a greater part of the song repeating syllables...took her like what 6 years to stop remixing the lyrics of umbrella?

[–]rfbandit 255 points256 points ago

Sounds like she's talking about dicks.

[–]donpapillon 155 points156 points ago

Going too deep.

[–]leet_hacksaw 120 points121 points ago

...And making her cry...

[–]RubeusShagrid 62 points63 points ago

By beating her

[–]kmingle 39 points40 points ago

...vagina...

[–]AngryJozh 11 points12 points ago

By Chris Branches.

[–]CerpinTaxes 130 points131 points ago

"Come here rude boy boy is you big enough? Come on rude boy boy can you get it up?"

I can't believe she's still holding the charade that this song isn't about cocks and fucking.

[–]superchill 41 points42 points ago

I'm pretty sure it was always about dicks. Wikipedia seems to agree.

[–]CerpinTaxes 29 points30 points ago

I'm pretty sure in an interview she said it wasn't just about dicks.

[–]cloudxen 54 points55 points ago

Just like how masturbation isn't about my dick.

[–]Seanjohn2800 18 points19 points ago

It's about the passion between a man and...his wiener, No, his hand.

[–]ReflectiveResistance 6 points7 points ago

Maybe she meant the lyrics reminded her of a time when a guy went too deep into her ass.

[–]ragechildkk 136 points137 points ago

You're just looking at the wrong song.
Umbrella, ella, ella, ella, ay, ay ay

[–]cynicalMIND 49 points50 points ago

hey that song is pretty good HATERS GONNA HATE

[–]JHallComics 36 points37 points ago

She didn't write it.

[–]mangarooboo 16 points17 points ago

All s/he said was it's pretty good. S/He didn't say she did a good job writing it.

ninja edit: multi-sex pronouns?

[–]jdawggey 3 points4 points ago

they. stupid english.

[–]beefJeRKy-LB 1 point2 points ago

At least that song was fun and had decent music.

[–]yakusokuN8 1 point2 points ago

I don't care about how "deep" that song is. I want to know how she made "ever" rhyme with "umbrella".

[–]Love_Soup 50 points51 points ago

Sooo relevant

[–]Jamielynn80 5 points6 points ago

Awesome article.

[–]Zamusu 12 points13 points ago

Wrote the song "Man Down" in twelve minutes, so deeeep.

[–]Seanjohn2800 2 points3 points ago

I couldn't pay attention to it once it started using the name Riddick

[–]fuckyoubarry 2 points3 points ago

rollout is payola

[–]RabidBatRat 10 points11 points ago

That article makes me wish people pirated more music.

[–]-shut-the-fuck-up- 43 points44 points ago

WHOA NAH NAH, whats my name???

[–]Pawpsiclez 18 points19 points ago

Apparently its -shut-the-fuck-up. So probably willis.

[–]mrafaeldie12 2 points3 points ago

Wuchu talkin bout willis?

[–]brwilliams 6 points7 points ago

That is not even her name! It makes no sense!

[–]1niquity 1 point2 points ago

Ba-na-nas, are on the way!

[–]Ron_Mahogany 71 points72 points ago

She does like deep dick.

[–]fuckpiss 13 points14 points ago

Your alliteration made me piss a little.

[–]webdevguy2 18 points19 points ago

she definitely does get the deep dick delivered, unless deciding to devour the delicious dish...

[–]fuckpiss 17 points18 points ago

Welp, i came

[–]courierblue 6 points7 points ago

Watching that one scene in V for Vendetta must be tough for you.

[–]TankorSmash 4 points5 points ago

Does this damsel deserve the dick, despite different dubious debaucheries depicted in her 'deep' descants?

[–]jody_dee 13 points14 points ago

this reminds me of how Paris Hilton said her own album was so good, it moved her to tears.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points ago

"There's sex in the air but that's OK, I like the smell of it"

What the fuck. How nasty.

[–]brussels4breakfast 10 points11 points ago

Well, she did say, "deep".

[–]chekkers 3 points4 points ago

The flashbacks brought tears.

[–]Deznok 42 points43 points ago

"Birthday cake cake cake cake cake cake cake cake" That's really deep, i know that feel bro.

[–]eneutrality 25 points26 points ago

Cried my eyes out, so deep

[–]kolm 6 points7 points ago

This kinda makes me wanna cry, too.

[–]graci556 20 points21 points ago

Russian Roulette doesn't have awful lyrics, truthfully.

[–]Oo0o8o0oO 3 points4 points ago

Theyre more dark than deep, really.

[–]RhiannonRae 5 points6 points ago

My boyfriend's younger sisters run around the house singing that song. They're 9 and 7. This shocks and appalls me.

[–]scassett 37 points38 points ago

I find posts like this too be too simplistic. Why can't she write songs with no meaning and then write some with meaning? You just quoted one song and everyone else is quoting a couple songs from her. I haven't listened to her a lot, but if she says she had some songs that meant a lot to her I believe her.

[–]SicilianEggplant 14 points15 points ago

Because like most current stars, she doesn't write shit:

http://m.npr.org/story/137530847?url=/blogs/money/2011/07/05/137530847/how-much-does-it-cost-to-make-a-hit-song

(sorry for mobile version, couldn't spot the full link)

[–]DystopiaX 4 points5 points ago

While the guy you're responding to says write, notice in the original image she didn't say that she wrote deep lyrics, just that she performed lyrics that made her cry.

[–]scassett 6 points7 points ago

I'm not saying that she writes her own songs. I'm saying that maybe some of the songs she sings have deep meaning to her whether she wrote them or not.

[–]scrott 17 points18 points ago

She was probably talking about a song that meant something to her, not the stuff she puts out to make money (which is the majority, I admit, but people are stupid, why not take advantage of that?) Leave her alone.

[–]OpticalData 62 points63 points ago

i crid 5eva

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points ago

I uploaded that same picture just yesterday :'(

[–]jcmence1488 20 points21 points ago

I forgot what Rihanna ex boyfriend name was...then it hit me.

[–]thearmadillo 6 points7 points ago

Or you know, maybe she was talking about one of her songs about domestic abuse.

[–]Careblair3 27 points28 points ago

Repost from yesterday..

[–]repostsFromYesterday 34 points35 points ago

You called for me?

[–]lancerevo98 5 points6 points ago

i was astonished when i saw that you've been a redditor for 1 month. I couldn't believe it when i saw that this was your first comment and that you have posted nothing else. And so i ask you, how fulfilling is this moment?

[–]repostsFromYesterday 1 point2 points ago

This moment feels incredible. The idea all along was to take stuff from the front page and repost it to see how many redditors would blindly upvote, but then I never got around to it. To finally be useful is one of the greatest moments of my life

[–]abbeycrombie 4 points5 points ago

Hmm, I wonder why she gets emotional?

About tree fiddy

[–]strivingforever 43 points44 points ago

Story of my life Searching for the right But it keeps avoiding me Sorrow in my soul Cause it seems that wrong Really loves my company

He's more than a man And this is more than love The reason that the sky is blue The clouds are rolling in Because I'm gone again And to him I just can't be true

And I know that he knows I'm unfaithful And it kills him inside To know that I am happy with some other guy I can see him dying

I don't wanna do this anymore I don't wanna be the reason why Everytime I walk out the door I see him die a little more inside I don't wanna hurt him anymore I don't wanna take away his life I don't wanna be... A murderer

I feel it in the air As I'm doing my hair Preparing for another date A kiss upon my cheek As he reluctantly Asks if I'm gonna be out late I say I won't be long Just hanging with the girls A lie I didn't have to tell Because we both know Where I'm about to go And we know it very well

Cause I know that he knows I'm unfaithful And it kills him inside To know that I am happy with some other guy I can see him dying

I don't wanna do this anymore I don't wanna be the reason why Everytime I walk out the door I see him die a little more inside I don't wanna hurt him anymore I don't wanna take away his life I don't wanna be... A murderer

Our love, his trust I might as well take a gun and put it to his head Get it over with I don't wanna do this Anymore Uh Anymore (anymore)

I don't wanna do this anymore I don't wanna be the reason why And everytime I walk out the door I see him die a little more inside And I don't wanna hurt him anymore I don't wanna take away his life I don't wanna be... A murderer (a murderer)

RESULTS: Pretty deep

[–]confusedben 48 points49 points ago

:/ the lyrics to this song (Unfaithful) were written by Ne-yo and some other guy, and originally performed by Ne-yo and other guy as the duo "Stargate". It was originally called "murderer".

I don't think strivingforever or Rihanna was making the claim that she wrote the lyrics. I think he, and she are making the claim that the lyrics she sang can provoke an emotional reaction.

This song was good, but it annoyed me. Okay, you hate that you are hurting him, you don't want to do it anymore. And you know that he knows.

So fucking stop cheating on him and break up. Fuck.

I believe the top answers the bottom.

You mean the bottom answers the top - if you get my drift.

A fucking MEN

[–]RandyMachoManSavage 2 points3 points ago

I'm crying right now. Those lyrics are awful.

I put as much effort into that sweet chop as Rihanna puts into her music.

What is this cake song? This is the third comment referencing it, and I don't think I've ever heard it.

[–]courtesy-flush 1 point2 points ago

Well, I took one for the team and Googled it: Birthday Cake

According to YouTube comments 'Cake = Vagina'

Well if we're going to play that game, The Beatles were crap at writing lyrics. I mean, "she loves you yeah yeah yeah, she loves you yeah yeah yeah, she loves you yeah yeah yeah yeah."

[–]Jamisloan 2 points3 points ago

But then they have some amazing, thought provoking songs also. Which I think is what a lot of people are trying to say... Some songs aren't going to be "deep", some will be.
I personally love most of the Beatles songs, but I don't like any of Rihanna's songs. Doesn't mean someone else feels the opposite.

[–]jmad202 2 points3 points ago

"I may be bad, but I'm perfectly good at it"

Well at least she got that one right. She's fucking terrible, which I guess makes her good at being bad.

Rude boy? Try Evil Boy.

[–]BigBadMrBitches 1 point2 points ago

For all of you coming to defend rihanna's deeper lyrics, you might want to check if she's the one who actually wrote them. 9/10 times she wasn't

[–]pipii 0 points1 point ago

I laughed out loud. In class.

[–]bones_tle 1 point2 points ago

It must be strange going into a recording booth and start singing lyrics you've never seen before

[–]scandal2ny 1 point2 points ago

Can't stand this trashy whore. She needs to stop making noise into the microphone with her irritating voice.
