well, for one the waterfall area isn't a still picture. looks to me like a long exposure. the lens flare looks to me like it could either be a camera setting or photoshop, not sure which. you'll notice a discrepancy in color saturation from the left side of the picture to the right side of the lens flare. this might be caused as a result of how they did the long exposure, but it's more likely photoshop, since the greens of the left side are so much more vivid than the right side.

I believe you are right, I have done that Hike twice now, by far my favorite hike, and it looks like that is the last spot before ascending to Salamander Glacier at the top

Long exposure does that. In addition, the HDR/exposure bracketing and boosting of colors in post makes everything in that image look incredibly fake.
