The bots are taking over!

[–]John_Truckasaurus 34 points35 points ago

I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a user of reddit™ I can be useful in rounding up others to toil in their underground karma caves.

[–]uneekfreek 5 points6 points ago

Underground? Karma? Caves?! Do lead the way good sir!

[–]MagnusTheGreat 1 point2 points ago

Seems like this has something to do with hipsters...

[–]usedmuffin 0 points1 point ago

Jazz rocking the drums

[–]Vexing 0 points1 point ago

You just got this song from middle school stuck in my head. Thanks.

[–]zack10house 0 points1 point ago

You were way cooler than I was in middle school

[–]Vexing 1 point2 points ago

Only in 8th grade. 6th grade I knew nothing about any modern music with the exception of smash mouth. 7th grade was all linkin park and slipknot. 8th grade was sum41, nofx, and a few other bands like them. Then in highschool I got into jack johnson and started not caring about genre. Now I like everything.

I still love punk, though. Anti-flag, Pulley and the descendants are great work music for me.

[–]zack10house 0 points1 point ago

How do you feel about this? I thought it was a pretty cool and interesting take, personally, but I don't know anyone else who's into the Descendents so I haven't gotten to share :p

[–]Vexing 1 point2 points ago

That's pretty good. I'm not really big into most metal, but that's pretty good. I would've gone crazy over it back when I my slipknot and punk phases overlapped. :P

[–]pl4yswithsquirrels 0 points1 point ago

weird, you were in the exact same place I was in middle school. Love NOFX. I was talking to a friend the other day about how great the Decline is.

[–]EagleEyeInTheSky 0 points1 point ago

This is a good thing.

[–]m4xm4n 2 points3 points ago

I saw that episode recently. That show was funny as hell.

Anybody notice the girl in the white dress sneezing?

[–]doclev 24 points25 points ago

[–]_pagan_poetry_ 6 points7 points ago

As good as this song is, it's a bit of a shame that this is what everyone automatically thinks of when Chumbawamba is mentioned.

Back in their early days, they put out some really sweet anarcho-pop songs.

[–]HyzerFlip 3 points4 points ago

I would love to hear some. Links? Titles?

[–]_pagan_poetry_ 4 points5 points ago

Admittedly, it's been a while since I've listened but I remember enjoying the albums: "Pictures of Starving Children Sell Records" and "Shhh!".

[–]evansawred 4 points5 points ago

I like this one, it's about Bod Dylan. "Give The Anarchist a Cigarette"

[–]yamatoshi -1 points0 points ago

[–]poisomike87 3 points4 points ago

[–]neverendingninja 5 points6 points ago

I think this works with just about any song with a drum beat. Especially if you're white. ಠ_ಠ

[–]milz4897 4 points5 points ago

This .gif with this music

[–]yamatoshi 0 points1 point ago

As a general rule to my life, I can and will dance to the awesomeness of any JSRF music

Also, given the subject of the post, I think this one works great lol

[–]phantomjm 6 points7 points ago

Now I feel old. Actually, my junior high music was more like this.

[–]ANeilan 7 points8 points ago

dammit

[–]Salva_Veritate 7 points8 points ago

[–]SamK2323 1 point2 points ago

I see what you did there

[–]ImSeeingRed 0 points1 point ago

This song is fun as fuck to play on acoustic though

[–]ANeilan 0 points1 point ago

good song. pretty easy to FC

[–]Heelincal 0 points1 point ago

This is the only correct answer.

[–]someredditorguy 2 points3 points ago

Remix'd and you thought this was dead forever

[–]BelugaTaquito 3 points4 points ago

I'm almost 30 and I still non-ironically like all the music I liked in middle school. Should I be concerned?

[–]FilipinoGuy 10 points11 points ago

Well, you just had good taste in music all your life; you should be proud.

[–]BelugaTaquito 1 point2 points ago

I just wish I'd been able to feign an interest in Green Day so I could have had something to talk about with girls. For some reason I was really into Elton John, Steely Dan and David Bowie in the mid 90's.

[–]zack10house 2 points3 points ago

pre-2004 Green Day's a'ight. Post-2004 Green Day's actually pretty cool too, they just sound TOTALLY different. You had awesome taste though

[–]Heelincal 1 point2 points ago

Yeah Green Day isn't bad at all, they just are basically two different bands.

[–]FISH_MASTER -3 points-2 points ago

You....I like you...

[–]Beerblebrox 1 point2 points ago

Not at all, man. I'd be more concerned if you didn't still like it. My best friend and I used to listen to all the same bands when we were in middle school, but I recently found out that he doesn't like those bands anymore. I felt betrayed, almost. You can't just change your mind like that, bro - who am I supposed to listen to horrible ska-punk with now?

[–]buffcat 11 points12 points ago

first album i bought, in middle school

[–]bjornkrage 8 points9 points ago

no regrets, hm?

[–]th3shark 1 point2 points ago

Same here, except I sold my drum set a week ago.

[–]seafood10 1 point2 points ago

I just cannot stop staring at this......

[–]33andaturd 1 point2 points ago

Was listening to this when I saw that.

Fucking perfect.

[–]ahawks 0 points1 point ago

Wow that does fit really well

[–]pip_pip_cheerio 1 point2 points ago

And then the words magically come back to you...

[–]Ipanman92 1 point2 points ago

[–]wintremute 1 point2 points ago

TIL all these redditors were in middle school after I was out of college.

[–]kommando1 1 point2 points ago

Looking back at the billboard top 100 for when I was in eight grade, I'm gratified to see Waterfalls, Colors of the Wind, No Diggity, Gangsta's Paradise, Tha Crossroads, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Run Around, Only Wanna be With You, and Just a Girl were on it. 95/96 was a hot time for some definitive 90s songs.

[–]iamtheliquor86 1 point2 points ago

Please explain this to me. Where i Live we have elementary school(jk-gr.8) and high school (gr.9-gr.12) I keep hearing about a Middle school. I assume its an american thing. What grades are they?

[–]Bluaaah 0 points1 point ago

where i went to school, middle school was grade 5 - 8. But now there is something called intermediate school along with the other three schools and i have no idea what the hell that is

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Grades 3-5

[–]FattyMcPatty 4 points5 points ago

One of the things I love about music. I never outgrow it. No matter how much amazing music I discover, there will always be a special place in my heart for old school linkin park.

[–]zack10house 2 points3 points ago

Hybrid Theory is the first CD I ever owned (and the first album I bought with my own cash). All cassettes before that...

[–]FattyMcPatty 0 points1 point ago

I wish I could say the same. Mine was minutes to midnight. I was hoping it would be more of the same LP I liked, but it wasn't. I was sad. It's not terrible, but it's not what I was expecting.

[–]zack10house 0 points1 point ago

I have every Linkin Park album and think they are all fantastic (even A Thousand Suns! although it took time to grow on me...) the new single though...ugh

[–]FattyMcPatty 0 points1 point ago

yeah. I don't hate the new stuff, it just didn't strike me the same way hybrid theory and meteora did.

[–]zack10house 0 points1 point ago

agreed on all counts

[–]FISH_MASTER -1 points0 points ago

Hybrid theory will ALWAYS be epic

[–]FattyMcPatty -1 points0 points ago

Amen!

[–]nsk08001 3 points4 points ago

This is what I was expecting when I clicked the original thread

[–]Bilibond 5 points6 points ago

Don't downvote. It's just a bot that doesn't take contest into account. It's information, not a judge.

[–]p8ssword 8 points9 points ago

In this case it's irrelevant information, so downvoting would help suppress the post in this one instance. The bot doesn't mean anything by it, but it's a bot and won't have its feelings hurt by a downvote.

But you're a human expressing a constructive opinion. I don't know why people are downvoting you.

[–]NimbusBP1729 5 points6 points ago

I'm not sure if the opinion is constructive at all. It seems misinformed. Bilibond is ignoring the purpose of downvoting.

[–]p8ssword 1 point2 points ago

Reddit would be pretty boring if we disallowed opinions that while misinformed are still respectful and relevant. In those cases, it seems better to explain why the opinion is wrong than to downvote.

But that's just my opinion. Feel free to downvote me if you disagree. :-)

[–]NimbusBP1729 1 point2 points ago

I haven't downvoted you at all(in fact I upvoted you), but it was because you said something constructive. Reddit doesn't "disallow" opinions either, it just creates a sieve where quality can go to the top and misinformation settles at the bottom. Telling people not to downvote something that is irrelevant(the bot in this case) is not constructive. The system exists so we can decide what is relevant on a case by case basis.

[–]p8ssword 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, I was just joking on the downvote bit. I save my downvotes for intentional trolls and in extreme cases, unintentional trolls. But downvoting misinformation certainly falls within the realm of acceptable reddiquette.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points ago

I'm going to downvote you for being a dumbass and commenting to defend a bot

[–]bobatbills 0 points1 point ago

This is swell

[–]InMSWeAntitrust 0 points1 point ago

I opened this link while listening to DnB. I had to watch it for the rest of the song.

[–]desmopressin 0 points1 point ago

Damn Will Smith was hilarious in this show.

[–]nick041 0 points1 point ago

So I clicked that while listening to this in the background.

[–]hostergaard 0 points1 point ago

I saw the gif while listening to this.

[–]Bjidgel 0 points1 point ago

I tried this for some reason.

[–]Dahey 0 points1 point ago

Reminds me of the punch line of an old joke ...stop dicking around or I'll nail your other foot the the ground....

[–]saustintaylor1014 0 points1 point ago

Is it just me or does Dj Jazzy Jeff look like Sid from Maniac Mansion?

[–]zack10house 1 point2 points ago

...did you un-upvote yourself?

[–]saustintaylor1014 1 point2 points ago

.....I am new and too scared to admit it.....be gentle. There's lube on the dresser.

[–]jerk-o 0 points1 point ago

That made me think of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhRZpOaigQQ

[–]WestonP 0 points1 point ago

This is pretty much the whole reason for the 80's and 90's channels on XM radio. Finally, I can hear Ice Ice Baby in my car (with the windows up) without getting fooled by that damn Under Pressure song by David Bowie. Turns out that Vanilla Ice is far more terrible than I had remembered.

[–]JessMidian 0 points1 point ago

Offspring, Weezer, and Foo Fighters.

[–]Freakazette 0 points1 point ago

I totally do! But I was in middle school from 1994 - 1997, so that's cheating. That's when at least half of all awesome 90s music came out.

[–]lokystx 0 points1 point ago

[–]patsfan94 0 points1 point ago

I like when I listen to the words in a new way too. Like in Semi-Charmed life.

[–]wrinklesaresexy 0 points1 point ago

This made me laugh so hard because I was listening to "Technologic" by daft punk. I highly recommend that.

[–]Captainpatch 0 points1 point ago

Shit, I was super into Queen, Michael Jackson, and The Doors at that age. I think I might have dodged a bullet.

[–]KevinMichaelMichael 0 points1 point ago

Bush-Greedy Fly

[–]ITS540PM 0 points1 point ago

Synced perfectly with the song I'm listening to right now. Awesome

[–]G-pissy 0 points1 point ago

this song was playing when i opened the gif. needless to say, i partied by myself for about 5 seconds.

[–]skippy4pres 0 points1 point ago

I'm kinda surprised that no one has posted this yet. It's awesome.

[–]LoveSexDeath 0 points1 point ago

As it so happens, I was listening to the music i loved in middle school when i scrolled by this... and the dancing/drumming were to the beat of my music perfectly.

[–]the_dying_punk 0 points1 point ago

Unless of course you took your mothers surname

Had that blasting when this gif came on. Was no disappoint.

[–]abravefight 0 points1 point ago

ugh

[–]philqw -5 points-4 points ago*

Video: http://youtu.be/a9CcotpUrB0

(oops. no love for goregrind here, obviously :-)

[–]kurazy 2 points3 points ago

I don't know why I watched that through to the end.

[–]zack10house 1 point2 points ago

I like to think I'm fairly open-minded when it comes to music. I don't like mainstream rap or country, but I understand the appeal. I can do metal just fine, even the heavier borderline-unintelligible shit (Necrophagist, anyone?), but Grindcore and its several offshoots (goregrind, pornogrind, etc.) totally baffle me. Do people actually sit alone and listen to this shit for enjoyment?

Take this for example...that might be someone's favorite song, and that's fucking weird to me.

[–]philqw 1 point2 points ago

Good point. I'd post an AMA Request if I could only come up with five questions...

[–]gekk00 0 points1 point ago

My word, that was fucking awful

[–]shadowmask -2 points-1 points ago

This .gif synchronizes well with Arcade Fire - Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out)

[–]seeteethree -1 points0 points ago

HELLZ yeah!

[–]OneSingleMonad -1 points0 points ago

Oh man, I lol'd so hard.

[–]Ellencia -1 points0 points ago

Well, for me 8th grade was about 8 years ago, but I still think Good Charlotte is the bomb... xD

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]Vorpal_Hammer 11 points12 points ago

That's Jazzy Jeff.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points ago

I like good music, not that shit out today.

[–]zack10house 0 points1 point ago

Good music's out there. Look harder.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

My god, show some respect for your ears.

No. That sucked balls. Unless you were trying to give an example of the terrible music out today.

Better

[–]zack10house 1 point2 points ago

the 80's are not exactly my idea of what's "out today", but I can dig on some Cheap Trick

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

I know. I was making a comparison.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

But really, how can you actually like puscifer? He is terrible!

[–]zack10house 0 points1 point ago

That's Maynard James Keenan, also of Tool and A Perfect Circle. He's far from terrible

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

No, he's rather close to it.

Never heard of them.

The words are a big pile of vulgar.

[–]zack10house 0 points1 point ago

Alright, I failed to notice your username. Here's something less profane

EDIT: shared the wrong track, fixed it

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Nah, not like I can't handle swearing, just that is too much.

Eh... I really don't like it. Rabbit heart isn't like that one by Maynard, but... it still kind of sucks.

[–]zack10house 0 points1 point ago

fair enough. My point is, ALL KINDS of music is still being made. Maybe I can't find something for you at the moment, but it's out there. You can't just write off all music after a certain date. I mean, you CAN, you're just missing out on a lot of cool stuff.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Some, not a lot. Rarely do I ever see anything catching my eye. So no, its probably not out there.

[–]zack10house 0 points1 point ago

Fair enough, I tried :) Nothing wrong with enjoying the same stuff you've always enjoyed either. I'm just all about music, so I'm constantly finding new stuff, and it's a fantastic experience.

[–]bigmeech -3 points-2 points ago

lmao

you are le epic child at heart!!!!

so epic random XFD
