Is anybody else oddly turned on by the way she says this?
[–]Buff_N_Sexy 80 points81 points82 points 4 months ago
Everything she does turns me on
[–]zombiehive 22 points23 points24 points 4 months ago
Read the Rolling Stone article about her. She really is fantastic.

If I was still in high school I'd find a way to ask her to go to prom with me.

Yes.

I don't understand why people would downvote you. Your making the lives of everyone easier. And I still don't undestand how most of reddit cant link videos with proper time. It's really easy just add #t=(howevermany seconds in you want it)s
[–]goochstabber 23 points24 points25 points 4 months ago
People are probably downvoting because, "It's YOU'RE, GODDAMNIT!"
[–]MarinP 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago
As a non-native English speaker, this attitude kinda bugs me some times. Sure, he could simply be uneducated or not good with languages or whatever, but he could also be a non-native speaker. I often get grammar-raped when I fuck up my English, since the assumption seems to be that all Redditors are USAvians.
That being said, this guy deserved your downvote since he seems to be unable to comperhend that some people aren't as skilled as he is when it comes to link youtube videos. Besides, his formula for describing the time link process is flawed so I better get on the DV-train of glory:)
[–]NoVa1967 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago
Sorry, MarinP. Yes, there's definitely a presumption that most of us here are from the U.S., which leads most of us to think that the person who doesn't get written English down is like this person:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww
Hahaha what in the holiest of fucks was that!? She is not one of our great thinkers I reckon :P
Damn, what you say makes me sad though. It means that the level of native speakers have dropped to the point of being almost indistinguishable from us non-native speakers.
If the price of conserving good English is lashing out at the occasional foreigner every once in a while, then damn it I'm willing to take that pounding...for science! Keep fighting the good fight my friend!
[–]nodefect 2 points3 points4 points 4 months ago
It's really easy just add #t=(howevermany seconds in you want it)s
It's even easier to right click on the video and "Copy video URL at current time".
[–]fizdup 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago
Well then, why didn't you do it?
Oh crap, I should really read the other comment before I post, shouldn't I?
[–]Eupho 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago
Haha, no worries. when I found this guys reply though it had more downvotes than upvotes. People are stupid.

Oscar nominated actress from Winter's Bone. I know she's known for Hunger Games, but damn Winter's Bone was good.
[–]Sirithil 4 points5 points6 points 4 months ago
She also played as the young Mystique/Raven in X-Men, First Class.
[–]NegativeChirality 3 points4 points5 points 4 months ago

[–]Cacafuego 7 points8 points9 points 4 months ago
I told my wife not to watch it. People who enjoy (is that the right word?) Cormac McCarthy novels will like this movie.
Your wife must be so lucky to have you in control.
[–]Cacafuego 9 points10 points11 points 4 months ago
That's funny. Just last week, my 9 year old son asked why mommy is the boss of the house. We tried to convince him that it wasn't like that, but he wouldn't hear it.
[–]meh100 5 points6 points7 points 4 months ago
Because by no means could he be implying a recommendation.
[–]Fyrefly7 2 points3 points4 points 4 months ago
Yikes, reign it in there, buddy. He probably meant something closer to "suggested" than "forbade". I told my wife the same thing about Hunger Games. She would very much not have enjoyed that movie.
[–]goochstabber 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago
I believe he was making a joke at the expense of the wording that Poopfire used in that sentence.

[–]Dinasaur08 14 points15 points16 points 4 months ago
I saw that too. She was absolutely adorable! I found it a bit odd though because I saw another interview on Letterman back when X-Men came out and she didn't seem nearly as nervous or in awe of the fame. I suppose it's because she's getting so much attention now because of the "Hunger Games" trilogy.

That always scares the shit out of me, the idea that people in real life think that the thoughts in their head are coming from.....somewhere else... I hold on to my own sanity by thinking the majority of these people just say it because it is considered acceptable and "Christian" to say it. The people that really think god is talking to them though.......oh crap.
[–]SomeGuyWithABoner 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago
I feel the same way. I have an aunt and uncle who are very intelligent people, IQs are above average. My uncle has a Computer Engineering degree and my aunt has a masters in historical studies. I went to dinner with them and they both brought up how god speaks to them in a quiet voice in their heads when I said there was no proof god exists or doesn't exist -- I'm an agnostic theist. I was completely floored by this statement. I know that voice they are talking about is themselves, or at least that's what I consider it to be. They are pretty liberal and not crazy fundies, so I guess that's better, but damn.
[–]redsox113 -1 points0 points1 point 4 months ago

This is how all my arguments with Christians end. I will beat them from the logical side and then they'll say, "Well God has shown himself to me, so I know he's real." [–]Samurai_light -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 months ago
I've never been spoken to by an aboriginal so they must not be real.
Also, I've never heard or seen George Washington, so I choose not to acknowledge his existence either.
You can laugh and feel smart and play superior now, but after you die and you finally know the truth, I'm guessing your tone will change.
[–]TriMageRyan 4 points5 points6 points 4 months ago
The difference is that there has been proof of aborigines existence as well as George Washington that doesn't come from one singular book that's been written by multiple people who hear of the events from other people.
[–]Samurai_light -2 points-1 points0 points 4 months ago
How do I know they aren't lying? What proof? There is no proof of aboriginals or Washington. Just stories from other people that I have no reason to trust.
I didn't see it for myself, so I don't believe it.
[–]TriMageRyan 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago
Well, you can also just go meet an aborigine, they still have tribes in Australia that are quite fascinating. There is also physical evidence of George Washingtons existence such as bones, signatures, portraits of him in office, etc. But let me guess, using science is cheating because anything not in the bible isn't enough proof for anything.
I thought I met an aborigine once, but I found out later he was just an actor trying to fool me. I have seen pictures, but they were almost certainly Photoshopped, or just other actors to fool everyone into thinking aboriginals are real.
About George Washington, there is no evidence he ever existed. Sure there are bones. There are bones everywhere. That doesn't mean they belonged to Washington. Signatures? Portraits? So if you paint something, it is automatically real? No one has ever faked a signature before? And how would we even know IF George Washington existed, that is what his signature would even look like? Like I said before, there is nothing to prove his existence.
What do you mean using Science is cheating? I am the only one using Science. Science is about measuring empirical evidence. I have seen no empirical evidence that aboriginals or George Washington ever really existed. You are the one who is just taking the word of other people in good faith, because you chose to trust them rather than see for yourself.
[–]TriMageRyan 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago
I would love to know how you are using science when any form of evidence is wrong simply because you say it is. Find me one piece of evidence that's even close to such things I've give that proves anything in the bible happened and maybe you'll have some ground to stand on.
[–]Samurai_light -1 points0 points1 point 4 months ago
It's not wrong because I say it is. It's wrong because it has not been proven to me by any credible form of evidence.
Also, I cannot derive the meaning of your second sentence. Honestly.
How is it difficult to understand? Simply find me one piece of evidence of anything in the bible happening that is equally legitimate as the evidence that George Washington existed and you'll actually have a point to argue. I won't even burden you with the absolute proof like that of an aborigine existing.
[–]Samurai_light -1 points0 points1 point 4 months ago*
What does anything we are talking about have to do with the Bible? The relevance of the Bible to the existence of George Washington is zero. Are you saying that if George Washington existed (in your opinion), besides you having no empirical evidence that he ever did, than you believe things in the Bible did also?
About the supposed aborigine...so you have met one face to face and was able to verify their authenticity? I am skeptical, of course. You expect me to believe you personally have come in contact with one, so they exist? I'm sorry, I don't mean to call you a liar, but one person can make up anything. I would need, probably, at least 10-12 witnesses to begin to believe in their existence. And I promise I won't torture them and kill them to get them to admit to me they are not lying.
10-12 witnesses eh? How about the entire population of Australia? Most everyone there has met an aborigine. I met an aborigine when I went on vacation there back in 2006.
If the existence of George Washington has nothing to do with the bible then why did you bring it up in your first post? And I've given plenty of evidence (something you can't say) of both George Washingtons existence and that of an aborigine yet you seem to just disregard is simply because facts aren't enough proof for you.
All I'm asking for is one piece of evidence of the existence of a god, afterlife, or anything of that nature that is equal to the evidence of George Washington or an aborigine and you can have this sad excuse for a debate.
If somebody told me that aboriginals and George Washington walked on water and died and rose from the dead, or performed any other miracles, I wouldn't believe that either.
Do you honestly not see the clear and obvious difference, or are you just trolling?
There are miracles that happen every day. It was a miracle Washington was able to obtain any victories at all considering all his bad luck. Aboriginals have miracles, from the miracle of childbirth to people waking from the dead. But that doesn't matter because those people do not exist anyway.
People have different opinions as to what constitutes a miracle. Some say miracles are just natural things we cannot yet Scientifically explain, and others say miracles are exceptions to Scientifically known natural laws.
But one thing miracles are not; impossible. It is impossible to create a logical inconsistency, such as making a square a circle, or creating a rock so large even God cannot lift it. Logical paradoxes are impossible. Working within natural laws or the inverse is not impossible.
How big does something have to be, or outside of known natural laws does something have to fall to qualify as a miracle? If God decides to intervene on a small scale in someone's life, maybe by causing a gust of wind at just the right time to help two people meet, he would not just make a gust of wind out of nowhere. That would disrupt the balance of nature and add different atmosperic pressures and matter that was not previously there and before you know it...butterfly effect...we have another Katrina!
If he did it, he would start moving the thousands of pieces that needed to be in motion for that to happen at the right place and time way before it needed to happen. But of course, the Atheist will say it was NOT a miracle, it was just natural processes and a lucky coincidence.
I don't believe in trolls either.
[–]postguy2 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago
Your entire response is one big game of semantics.
If you read that George Washington sprouted wings and flew around, zapping people with lasers from his fingertips, would you believe it?
[–]sidneyc 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago
Yeah. If that happens, someone will have a lot of explaining to do (and it won't be me).

[–]issacwilliamspaul -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 months ago
Today somebody questioned me of why i beliiiieve in god. After that i explained to myself the reasons i belived in god
I always wonder the curious fact that life exists everywhere in many or in strange forms. In deep oceans ,in volcanos, in high thermal vents, extreme saline hot cold situvations it simply exist.SO....
its quit natural to beliiiiiieve that life is going to exist outside earrth too there are billion billion stars in unniverse. There are possibllllly a billion billion universes. and its mere vastness is great enough reason to believe there is life outside earth.many intelligent species too.SO...
Our human body is a vast universe. there are 1013 cells in our body....but the strange thing is the parasetic and symbiotic bacteria and viruses ...simply out number our body cells to a factor of 100. There is a 100 times more bacteria in our body than livin g cells.
Bacteria is a very intelligent species more intelligent in its realms than human.its adaptability, thrive to existence, power of resilence learning powers defending abilities attackinnnnng abilities are much advanced than humans. yet compared to our macro world they are helpless.
A colony of bacteria living inside a trench made by them in the intestine of human is trying to understand its existence how long will it develop the intelligent to understand humans. One day after a few hundred years they may develop helicoptwers and come out of humans mouth. yet they cant understand fully were they exist.
We may be like bacterias living inside the guts of a Supreme Being which we call god. May be living in the inside nail of god
The world is made in a solar sytem model from micro to macro level.even electrons protons to universes blackholes fgollowing the model.so its natural to believe the earth is a part if not a cell of the god itself
god as we fear bacterias may be afraid of us too.Its very difficult for him to wipe us out of him.

Your point in #7 is not actually very accurate. That model of the atom you see in your first chemistry class is not actually anything close to the way atoms look. Organic cells don't really operate similar to atoms or star systems either. I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, I think this is actually a very interesting thought experiment to think about, but after the chemistry courses I took in college I have always disliked this atomic model = solar system model comparison.

my same reaction when an atheist tells me they know there is no God.
[–]postguy2 3 points4 points5 points 4 months ago
Do you have this reaction when somebody tells you they know there are no leprechauns? If not, what's the difference?
Your comment history is filled with this idea, that theism is somehow defensible and atheists are arrogant for not believing it, so I'd really love to hear what the difference is.
[–]mickddp -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 months ago
Saying that theism is not defensible just shows how arrogant atheists are. My point was there is no difference. Theists and atheists each have their own mentality and each think the other is wrong in the beliefs. So when some atheists tell me there is no God, I have the same reaction as they do when a theist would tell them something about God.
Use your "logic and reason" to figure out that people view the world differently and someone believing in God does make them an idiot.
Saying that theism is not defensible just shows how arrogant atheists are.
Let me revisit my leprechaun example. Is somebody's claim that psychic leprechauns exist defensible? Is it arrogant of me to say that person's belief is silly?
[–]mickddp -2 points-1 points0 points 4 months ago
i ignored your leprechaun example because it is retarded. You can say it's "silly" because that's how you view it. A theist could say the same of atheism. That is my point.
[–]JakeLV426 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago
Funny how you say an imaginary made up creature is a retarded example, yet the imaginary made up creature you believe in is perfectly valid. The burden of proof lies on the believers, whether you like it or not. Keep clinging.
[–]mickddp -1 points0 points1 point 4 months ago
No it doesn't because I don't have to prove anything to you.
You're the one making wild claims about imaginary overlords. Don't expect people to take you seriously if you can't back it up.
You are an atheist on an atheism subreddit. Your views are not widespread. So continue the circlejerk with the rest of the know it all neckbeards
[–]postguy2 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago
Your views are not widespread.
First off, atheism is widespread, just not in whatever ignorant bubble you were raised in (and surely still live in).
Even if it weren't, "lots of people believe in leprechauns god" doesn't make it true.
I guess your circlejerk is the more widespread one eh?
[–]heb0 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago
My neckbeard is not a know it all. He's a regular person just like you and me. :(
The reason you're ignoring my leprechaun analogy is that you know it kills your argument.
I knew you couldn't tell me the difference between that and the god claim, because there is none, and you proved my point. Thank you.
