The reason that they chose this date is because a couple high school studets started getting together at "4:20" everyday to smoke ganja. It stuck and spread. [5]

4:20 pm is the time when all the stoner kids are out of school and can go smoke weed, and it's become the time associated with it, whether or not that's when smoking actually occurs. So when choosing a day to "recognize" pot smoking, 4/20 was the obvious choice.

It's not everywhere. Just in the schools where the loud and obnoxious crowd stupidly giggle in the corner amongst themselves acting like the day's a joke and a free time to just be imbecilic.

Has nothing to do with the actual act of partaking so much as it has to do with the obnoxious and immature fringes of the stoner community coming out to really parade their total lack of motivation to do anything but waste others times with their annoying self-entitled nature for an entire day.

Not everybody's like that, but the few there are come out in droves on this one day and in general make all who partake look like a bunch of idiots.

No, I'm talking about the people who derail the class goofing the fuck off.

Not in the funny or clever way in which a witty remark is made or a brilliant joke is cracked and the whole room shares a laugh. I'm talking about the five idiots scribbling misshapen pot leaves on the desks and thinking that this is the day they can act stoned (note how I say act, as this is mostly the "huh huh I'm Stooooooned!" stoned and not the quietly mellow with a smile stoned) and generally be a bunch of dicks.

It's like how there will be that one dude on St. Partrick's Day who goes around punching the people who aren't wearing green. Except that one dude is everywhere and he's stinking drunk and he's telling everyone he's stinking drunk and he wants everyone to know that he is cool because he's stinking drunk.

There's a difference between people enjoying their own little social day and having fun and people who just run about being obnoxious to everyone. You know, the people who give all others a bad name?

I dunno mate, you seem to be describing events I've never seen before. I also don't understand how someone drawing is disrupting the whole class. When is someone stoned something that disrupts the class? If you have dickheads in your classes then I can't imagine marijuana making them more vocal. People run about acting obnoxious around you? Where do you live?

Believe me, it's more common in rural areas where people like to play big fish in a small pond than anywhere else. What I'm describing is from places like backwoods Maine.

Where the crime is so low that people with pot consider themselves "rebellious" and simply won't shut up about how much they smoke. I'm talking about the people who go about in groups that will just obnoxiously ignore literally everything around them in lieu of talking about how high they were or how high they are or how high they will be.

I'm not really uptight. Again, I'm cool with people just enjoying their own holiday and having fun. In fact, there are several people who handle the day with class and just take it as a toast to a shared past time.

But in high school, it's just annoying. A bunch of kids annoyingly asserting how if pot was legal all the worlds problems will be solved, but couldn't even begin to talk to you about large-scale economics or worldwide trade.

You know, the people who will just parrot some rumor they heard that supports their way of life without actually understanding it or thinking about it. Doesn't have to be drugs. Could be politics, religion, whatever. I just can't stand people who won't think about what they do but will act like they're the ones that know best.

I refrain from anything that has an effect on my judgement and agency. I don't know about you, but when's the last time you've seen a high person doing something completely normally, on purpose? For example, buttoning a shirt or taking out the trash.

I know people who behave perfectly normally while high. The majority just do things slower. And I assure you, I have personally buttoned a shirt, successfully on the first try, while high. It wasn't even a polo, it was a real shirt.

That isn't the point, though. You are entirely free to consume or refrain from consuming whatever you like. You should not disparage others for the way they make those decisions unless they actually end up hurting you. Everyone has a right to pursue happiness in the most effective way for them.

I do not see drugs as happiness. I see them as a temporary form of pleasure. An addiction. A simple object some humans use constantly to give themselves the illusion of happiness. I look down on those who use drugs, because they chose an easy way to make themselves "Happy". Or at least easy to use, not to acquire.

Not to mention reputation. Those who use are generally looked down on by employers, among other people.
