Cute cat... But I'm sorry you don't understand the genius of Shakespeare

[–]syphonfilter989[S] -1 points0 points ago

I never said he wasn't a genius, and how do you know I don't realize his use of literary elements to grasp our very own human nature. I recognize his brilliance sir, as do I Leanardo, Galileo, Socrates, Einstein and many of the great minds this universe has produced. However that does not mean I can't be bored listening to the old English version of Romeo and Juliet read by an 80 year old women. I dont want to pick a fight; but just because i make fun of a literary genius, doesnt mean i dont have respect, wouldn't you agree?

So you nitpicked one section of my statement that was falsely skewed and felt the need to exploit it? I think everyone knows what I mean when I say old english

Forgive me, but when you are talking about literature (especially literature that is as influential as Shakespeare) this is not a nitpick. Not by a long shot. Your mileage may vary, naturally, but (and again, forgive me) but your post came off a bit like something that Shlubb and Klump might have said.

Finally, I must respectfully take exception with the "I think everyone knows what I meant" sentiment. Words mean something and they are important.

I love Shakespeare, but I have to sympathize with your situation. Romeo and Juliet is decent (has some good lines, but the overall story is meh, though it's still a better love story than Twilight) and a boring teacher can make any subject boring. My heart goes out to you sir.

Really? Shakespeare is what first sparked my interest in literature.
