This reminds me of my favorite Mr. Wizard episode where he sprinkles this powder on water and then sticks his whole arm in and it doesn't get wet. I have never been able to find a video of that episode.

This is fucked up, that ant was suffering from depression and the day to day repetition that he suffered through at the anthill. His girlfriend left him for a termite and his own mother simply saw him as a drone. This signified his last dignified step, his last hurrah, before he plunged himself into icy cold waters to his death. Don't promote ant suicide.

Fun fact: ants are very hydrophilic, meaning that water is attracted to their bodies making it very hard for a single ant to navigate through water (imagine us trying to swim through some sludge). Certain breeds of ants will form webs to allow a colony to survive through rainstorms.
