Well if we've learned anything from pokemon, a creature deemed too unintelligent for speech can get there eventually. Meowth was never granted the gift of speech from God but after months listening in on a speech class and practice learned to speak. I assume this fox took a similar route, and should probably give itself more credit. I can't even imagine how hard it must have been for an animal to understand speech.
