Congrats, mate! I got an interview for a job in my field and I'm super psyched!

ZING! I'm a psych major! Get it? Psyched...for psych? Hahaha...I wish I had friends....

[–]Noxrazi 23 points24 points ago

Psych majors unite! Except when I'm trying to get into a graduate program...The rest of you can just hang back for a bit. I'll let you know when I get in, and then you too can start applying.

-sigh-

Such a competitive field.

[–]redgroupclan 11 points12 points ago

All people ever seem to get anymore is psych majors.

[–]Noxrazi 11 points12 points ago

It's one of the most popular majors in America right now (number 2 on this list). =/ Which is why it's such a competitive market for jobs and graduate program positions. Many people going into psychology believe it to be an easy major, and it is, for the first year or two, but once you graduate with your BA, you'll find getting a job nearly impossible since most psychology jobs require licensure, which you can't get until at least the master's level.

[–]redgroupclan 11 points12 points ago

Hehe. Suckers.

[–]DontCareWhatYouThink 6 points7 points ago

No offense to psych majors, but at my undergraduate school, psych was basically known as the default major and was considered a cakewalk.

[–]ipoopmypantsonpurpos 15 points16 points ago

No offense to psych majors, but I'm going to offend you.

FTFY

[–]derpentiner 1 point2 points ago

still true

[–]CannibalAnn 1 point2 points ago*

Phd programs are worse! I passed the NCE in January, I have 69 graduate hours, 4.0 gpa, and I still can't get into a phd program :/ I finished my masters in 2007!

Edit: using alien blue on an iPhone :/

[–]Noxrazi 5 points6 points ago

Yeah. I just completed my BA-Psych in March, and I keep getting rejection letters. Granted, I didn't have time to acquire any research experience outside of my Research Methods class. So I know exactly why I'm getting rejected, even though I graduated Magna Cum Laude, scored fairly decent on the GRE, and am a member of Psi Chi, Sigma Alpha Lambda, and the APA (student affiliate). It really sucks. I'm about ready to crawl back to my professors and beg for a research assistant job/volunteer work. :[ Good luck to you!

[–]CannibalAnn 4 points5 points ago

Go to the same university you graduated from, get admitted to the graduate college as a provisional student. Most state universities will allow up to 12 graduate hours as undeclared and just take research classes. Or most states have a position of rehab specialists, depending on what you want to do.

[–]tophermeyer 2 points3 points ago

I'm about ready to crawl back to my professors and beg for a research assistant job/volunteer work.

This. Do this. Really, really do this.

Even if they don't have jobs in their lab they might know someone who does. People generally know what others in their field are working on. Express an interest in some field of study and you should at least be able to score some contacts.

Source: Worked for a number of years in a non-University Human Subjects Research Lab. Almost all of our employees were hired right out of undergrad based on referral from a professor we trusted.

[–]Noxrazi 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, it's exactly what I'm going to do as soon as all the schools I applied to reject me or whatever. I've got three professors providing recommendations for me, so I'm going straight back to them when the time comes. Thanks for your comment. :)

[–]tophermeyer 0 points1 point ago

Another thing, and I don't know why I didn't think of this before. One thing you can do is just start writing grant proposals. One of my former colleagues got her start by winning a small grant from the NIMH to study something. With funding in hand, she approached a lab she wanted to work in and got a job.

Professors and researchers love people who can win them funding. Asking for work when you already have money is really huge.

[–]faradayscoil 0 points1 point ago

Okay here's the deal. Those credentials are nothing without research ecperience. What do you mean you didn't have time?

[–]Noxrazi 0 points1 point ago

I was working 40+ hours a week as well as attending school full-time. It was too difficult for me to do volunteer work/internships/research while having to pay the bills. Anyway, that's exactly what I was saying, I know my credentials don't mean anything without research experience and I screwed myself over by not finding a way to get research experience in. Which is why I'll be crawling back to my professors soon enough.

[–]blackkatlv 0 points1 point ago

And that's why I stopped after bachelors...

[–]Noxrazi 0 points1 point ago

Well, unfortunately there's not much you can do with just a BA in psychology, and I actually love psychology and wish to have a fantastic career in it. So, I have to spend time and effort to get into a graduate program. I need at least a master's before I can start practicing.

[–]keysofmusic 8 points9 points ago

Good luck! Hope you get it!!! I'm a psych major as well. I have been working at a residential treatment center for kids/adolescents who meet the criteria for severe emotional disturbance for a year and a half now, and I absolutely love it. :) I get horrified looks from most people I tell...it's definitely not the right job for everyone. lol

[–]solabayaje 3 points4 points ago

What degree do you have? Also what's it like working with young people, I assume it's frustrating at times but rewarding?

[–]keysofmusic 1 point2 points ago

I actually don't have a degree yet. I'm working on my BS in psychology. All the things we need for the job are taught during the month of orientation, and we receive refresher courses for different things each year. I'm a "psychiatric technician." Basically, we're the ones who work the closest with the kids and make sure they're meeting their goals. Some of them have the issues they have due to the circumstances they grew up in. We help teach them skills to deal with their anger, fear, etc appropriately. I really enjoy working with the kids. It definitely can be frustrating at times (like when they throw tantrums over seemingly silly things), but the trick is to not let it show. They pick up on that and will use it against you. It's also important to build rapport with the kids. That helps a lot when they're upset, and usually makes it easier to calm them down if they're escalated.

Like I said, the job isn't for everyone. I've been bit, scratched, pinched, punched, and kicked. Had to go to the er for my first bite bc it broke skin and for one of the punches because I thought the kid (teenage boy) had broke my nose. Even after all that, I still love my job. I care for the kids and do my best to help them succeed so when they leave they never have to return. :)

[–]Almith_88 3 points4 points ago

[–]bacon_boner 1 point2 points ago*

Are you going to be a psychologist? Because then everything would go full circle! ZING!

Edit: Not using zing correctly; it's just too much fun to say. ZING!

[–]lol_imahuman 2 points3 points ago

I'm a psych major too! While I like psychology puns, you need some better ones.

http://boomsblog.blogspot.com/2007/10/psychology-puns.html

[–]Cognitive_Dissonant 6 points7 points ago

My name is kind of a psychology pun

[–]Nurger 3 points4 points ago

Not you, naanbread.

[–]the_walrus_was_ringo 1 point2 points ago

Not you, fire.

[–]omgimonfire 0 points1 point ago

That's awesome--congratulations! What kind of work are you gonna be doing? I have my psych degree hanging on my wall in a frame I bought at the dollar store for all the good it did me.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

I'll be doing clinical research, which is damn exciting to me.

[–]krisfade 0 points1 point ago

what kind of work can you get with a minor in psych?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

It depends on what you're interested in, really, and on what you're major is.

What I've learned is that you shouldn't think in terms of "I'm studying A, so I'll get a job doing A." If you've got the right mindset (and the right networking), you can do whatever you want, regardless of major.

[–]420simmons 30 points31 points ago

Oh my god, this actually just happened to my girlfriend.

After nearly a year of volunteering, constant job searching, and disappointment. She just got a call back literally 30 minutes ago.

This is such a related post, she laughed and cried simultaneously.

We hope you are just as happy as she is.

Best wishes to you, good sir/madam!

So happy for you! Good luck with everything!

you're a fucking boss, thats what you are.

[–]CuntBagFaceJerk 0 points1 point ago

Maybe he will be someday

[–]workthr_owaway 1 point2 points ago

When this happened to me a few months ago, after some 15 months of searching, it was probably the most ecstatic I've ever been. Just a HUGE weight lifted, the long term depression palpably just sloughing off slowly.

[–]fmlfml1 22 points23 points ago

Protip - major in comp sci

[–]Beznia 3 points4 points ago

:D Finally another one of my people!

[–]crow-bait 8 points9 points ago

It's a good major, from my experience.

Brother majored in Aerospace Engineering, minored in Computer Science. He didn't get an internship until after he graduated, and the internship he got was for Computer Science.

I'm a Computer Science Major with a minor in Art (yes, I know it's a weird combination). Learned from my brother's mistakes and started the job search early. Talked to ~15 companies, received 8 interview requests. Out of those, I was declined two offers due to petty reasons, got two job offers, and declined 4 interviews because one of the offers I got worked out perfectly for me.

DO COMP SCI. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

JOBS. JOBS EVERYWHERE.

[–]WhyGuy21 6 points7 points ago

BUT I AM NOT GOOD AT COMPUTER.

[–]Beznia 1 point2 points ago

Ah, back in highschool, I volunteered for LOTS of companies, went to lots of conventions, and met LOTS of CEOs. Greatest choices in life right there. Now I'm not actually looking for a job, I'm trying to choose which job offer to take from my choices, like someone who walks into McDonald's with $5 or more.

[–]DarkSyrinx 1 point2 points ago

Computer engineering is also pretty awesome. It's part EE, part CS, and part hardware design. I loved getting my degree and I start a job in my field in two weeks!

[–]nukeleearr 1 point2 points ago

Comp Sci + Finance double major is like looking for a job on easy mode

[–]downriver69 3 points4 points ago

Congratulations! I see a lot of people having trouble with this, and I'm worried about it myself as well, but it's good to see someone else who gets this opportunity during these rough times.

Best of luck :)

[–]phish92129 5 points6 points ago

Depending on your major it's not as hard as people make it out to be...it just requires some sacrifice. I work in marine biology and there are plenty of jobs...not necessarily six figure career out of college type jobs...but jobs that pay enough and help you gain experience.

The question is are you willing to do what it takes? Willing to relocate across the country? Work a second night job to help make ends meet while you gain experience? Maybe even start volunteering part time while working a job outside of your field if that is what is required.

A little google work will find a number of sites that can help you in a job search and usually there are jobs all over the country in a given field. Pretty much any marine biologist can be guaranteed a job out of college observing in Alaska paying $50k a year, yet only 4 of my friends in marine biology chose to do it. The rest, got jobs at banks, restaurants, or went to other things outside their field despite having the opportunity.

But don't be discouraged, it's amazing how things can come together at the end of a college career. You'll get top know your professors better, start looking around, and if you're lucky there will be an opportunity but for a lot you'll have to decide if the sacrifice is really worth working in your field just like every other college graduate does.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

I think, and this is just unbased thoughts, that the people who don't do it, really didn't want it. I see a lot of people going to university to study something just to prove they are smart or whatever other stupid reasons. In fact, I almost did it myself.

I don't know if I will end up going to study, but I'm not going to do it just to appease some egotistical desire. I'll do it if I find something I am really interested in and would study it even just to learn about it.

I think a lot of people don't think about it enough, and they therefore don't have the drive to sacrifice some things to get a job out of their degree. It's quite sad.

There's obviously also the problem of universities taking in too many people for the amount of jobs there are in a given field.

[–]downriver69 1 point2 points ago

Interesting. I'm actually trying to pursue a career as a marine biologist. Good to know. Thanks my friend.

[–]Pravusmentis 0 points1 point ago

If you worked marine biology, or any kind of biology for that matter, I would hope you know that night shift jobs and swing shift jobs are carcinogenic, and that swing shift jobs can cause lasting sleep pattern changes on a fetus during pregnancy

[–]phish92129 1 point2 points ago

No...no a marine biologist probably wouldn't be expected to know something like that...also it says probable carcinogenic, not that they are carcinogenic. Wording like that means they've found a correlation but it could be that people who work nights smoke more, or that a certain person who is more likely to work nights is also a higher risk for cancer. It would be very difficult to prove that a night shift job is directly carcinogenic.

And in the end, lots of people work nights, lots of people work swing shifts because they have to...working a strange schedule following a path you love might even be worth a little carcinogens considering pretty much everyone seems to be getting cancer these days. If I worked my dream job on a beach in Palau I'd probably get skin cancer anyways. Besides, out here we focus more on the here and now, like sinking and fires.

But if it's too much, no shame in applying as a bank teller, 9-5 probably carcinogen free shifts and all. But in my field, you gotta put in a little work before you get to watch great whites polaris jump out of the water in South Africa.

[–]Pravusmentis 0 points1 point ago

From my studies I can remember that mice who were irradiated during the transition form their perspective day>perspective night showed a much higher level or tumor formation, and abnormal levels of mPer2 a messenger RNA of Period 2 as well as c-myc a DNA regulator. I also vaguely remember something about melatonin levels and their effect of tissue but I can't be quoted on that

[–]Kodiack 0 points1 point ago

I remember reading up on how night shift workers had lower levels of melatonin. Since melatonin is generated when there's a lack of light (it is, after all, the "hormone of the dark") this is to be expected. Melatonin - outside of promoting sleep - is also a natural antioxidant, helping potentially explain the correlation between graveyard shifts and increased cancer rates.

[–]theviewfrom5Terre 0 points1 point ago

Do you mind if I ask you a few questions? I'm persuing marine biology this fall and I'm under the impression there are hardly any jobs.

[–]raylime 4 points5 points ago

major in something super specific. i got my undergrad in elementary education... now the only thing i can do is be an overpaid nanny! (unless i pair it with a teaching credential)

[–]1pt21gigatwats 2 points3 points ago

Early Childhood Education FTW! says the never-employed-in-her-field-certified-teacher Now I'm going back to school to get my BSN.

[–]ramate 2 points3 points ago

Isn't getting a degree in education and not getting your teaching credentials kind of like buying a car and then not buying gas for it?

[–]raylime 0 points1 point ago

yes, and that's why i'm in the program right now :)

[–]TheHatman9 2 points3 points ago

WOOOOOO its awesome isnt it?

its like stuff you did will actually affect your life in the future

[–]cloudnyne 3 points4 points ago

You throw confetti professionally now?

[–]bodiez 3 points4 points ago

[–]gm4 2 points3 points ago

This is how I felt, then I wondered wtf else I would do with computer science besides.... computers.. lol

[–]aracthedragon 2 points3 points ago

[–]DarkRyoushii 2 points3 points ago

Bachelor of IT majoring in Systems Administration - what are my chances?

[–]hikemhigh 2 points3 points ago

[–]archaeauto 7 points8 points ago

Me too! We are very lucky, but it was probably also due to hard work.

[–]buoybuoy 1 point2 points ago

Ah, I see you got a bachelors in campsite confetti. Great job!

[–]sheeponfire 1 point2 points ago

What, nursing?

[–]big_diesel 1 point2 points ago

Way to go! You beat me. I majored in kinesiology and worked as a strength coach for 3 years in undergrad. One year later and now I handle car insurance claims. I think I missed a step somewhere...

[–]323K13L 1 point2 points ago

Where do all of these jobs exist?

[–]cannotlogon 1 point2 points ago

You majored in Confetti Arts?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Now you can start posting in r/jobs about how apathetic and lazy everyone else is. Just kidding, good work.

[–]redelephant08 1 point2 points ago

Same Here!!

[–]mlsweeney 1 point2 points ago

I feel bad for people that can't get a job or even an interview relevant to their major. I have the opposite of that problem, I've been on two phone interviews, three office interviews resulting from on-campus interviews, and seven on-campus interviews that didn't result in office interviews. Still can't snag a job...

[–]crazst 1 point2 points ago

As someone who will almost certainly not get a relevant job... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AS669AzO8bw

[–]TerribleButcher 1 point2 points ago

Congratulations from a proofreader with an English degree.

[–]mcotostl 1 point2 points ago

Congrats! I'm in the same boat. I start at the end of the month.

P.S. I majored in accounting

[–]janitor42 1 point2 points ago

Congrats madam! Hope it's everything you imagine!

[–]ziggybiggnutts 1 point2 points ago

i think it really depends on what your major is.

[–]h8rsgonh8 1 point2 points ago

Just graduated from Bsc in Chemistry with a minor in Math yesterday! And I'm going back to school for four more years! Yaaaaaaaanot.

[–]crunkjuicer 1 point2 points ago

"The object of the educational system, taken as a whole, is not to produce hands for industry or to teach the young how to make a living. It is to produce responsible citizens...It seems unlikely that any form of vocational or technical training can help give significance to life on the assembly line. such significance could be achieved only by understanding the processes through which the worker was going, through understanding the relation of those processes to to the processes in which other workers were engaged, through understanding the significance of the product in the economic and social situation. The man on the assembly line, if he is to be a man, must have something in his head. No society that made any claim to be enlightened could contemplate the possibility that any section of its population could be reduced to subhuman status." -Robert M. Hutchins

[–]beefybear 1 point2 points ago

Quick, what's your major so I can change mine to something with possibility!

[–]micoleslaw 1 point2 points ago

How many cocks did you have to suck?

[–]thisdadisCRAZY 0 points1 point ago

I'VE TOLD ALL MY CHILDREN THAT IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU GET YOUR DEGREE IN, IF YOU'RE A HARD WORKER AND STRIVE TO GET AHEAD YOU'LL SUCCEED IN LIFE. THEY ALL HAD BAs, AND NOW THEY'RE ASTRONAUTS.

[–]just_hating 0 points1 point ago

Well good for you. And for the rest of us out there that can't even get scraps, hella jelly.

[–]eclmc6 0 points1 point ago

CONGRATS!

[–]anzl 0 points1 point ago

I wish I could share the feeling D:

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

As a Physics student in the UK, this is unlikely for me unless I make it academia. Congrats!

[–]malenkylizards 0 points1 point ago

What level of schooling? Why is this unlikely? Do they not have research labs in the UK?

I'm a CS/physics student on the other side of the pond. There are plenty of research jobs for people in my boat, but I live within 40 minutes of a NASA facility and two fairly well-funded research universities.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Early undergrad right now. We have a few research labs.. and an influx of Physics majors due to Brian Cox. My grades from high school are also a problem.

I'd love to hold a research position for a career, but the first obstacle is getting funding for a PhD, then postdoc, then a faculty position.

For all the advantages we have with our system of government over here, there is still a critical shortage of science funding.

[–]The_Law_of_Pizza 0 points1 point ago

My grades from high school are also a problem.

I don't know if things are that radically different across the pond, but your high school grades shouldn't matter at all unless you're trying to get an internship during your freshman year...

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

For many research positions (direct from undergrad), grades seem to be a factor, since many are listed through agencies who filter out many applicants, and are pretty brutal about it.

It just makes it all the more important that I network while I have the chance, attend all the conferences, and try my best to get summer internships or at the very least lab assistant positions over the summer.

[–]The_Law_of_Pizza 1 point2 points ago

For many research positions (direct from undergrad), grades seem to be a factor

Yes, grades, but your college grades...

I don't know anything about the UK's research system, but it just sounds weird. In the US, nobody would ever ask about your high school grades after you've had a few semesters of college already. They're done and over with forever.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

It's very different here. For most graduate schemes people are filtered by high school grades, regardless of degree classification. Someone could have a Physics degree at 95% from a top uni yet fall a little short in high school and therefore would be automatically filtered out, while the person with a Drama degree at 60% and high school grades above the filter mark would be considered.

Now, it can be a little different for some research facilities, but it is similar in many too.

It's a ridiculous system, but there are far too many graduates.

[–]peck8326 0 points1 point ago

Are you a wizard? Tell me your secrets, Gypsy

[–]mgpo222 0 points1 point ago

I'd love to say "congratulations" but I'm so jealous that I just can't do it, sorry.

[–]FedsAgainstGunS 0 points1 point ago

[–]NoctGent 0 points1 point ago

I haven't yet.. and I decided that if I don't get one by the end of the month, I give up. it's been a year and a half, time to movie4 on.

[–]osheasf 0 points1 point ago

You are living every persons dream, ever. Congrats. Ps, I hate you...

Good for you! Job experience in your field is one of the best things you can do for your career. Also great for networking. :) good luck!

[–]t_dub 0 points1 point ago

I, too, call bullshit.

[–]DrasticFantastic 0 points1 point ago

Congrats! I'm getting my degree in anthropology, but I should really have gotten a minor in "Interior Decorating for Cardboard Boxes." Maybe there will be jobs galore once I get my MA...

[–]cgee 0 points1 point ago

Awesome! Now you get to find out that your years of education in that field has almost no application to the job.

[–]VeryProudhonOfYa 0 points1 point ago

Nice! Took me two and a half years to get an actual fulltime job with my BS in Physics. THis is exactly how i felt, after getting hit on my bike and drinking to numb the pain

[–]mattmcinnis 0 points1 point ago

[–]StanDinfamy 0 points1 point ago

From somebody who was recently in a similar situation, Congratulations. And for people who haven't yet made the leap from their major to a relevant job, keep at it and don't give up.

[–]omnomnomnomnomnomn0m 0 points1 point ago

Are you by chance some type if engineer? Or maby your just one lucky son of a bitch.

[–]ashy88 0 points1 point ago

I'm a psych major too. Biggest mistake I ever made..... Paying the price for it now.

[–]bananabpineapple 0 points1 point ago

You're living the dream. I salute you.

[–]SucksAtFormatting 0 points1 point ago*

I unintentionally did. I'm getting a pool operation certification before the summer starts (I'm currently a lifeguard but the old pool operator left the company). When I skimmed through the pool operator handbook I saw a bunch of stuff I learned in fluid mechanics this year as well as stuff I'll probably learn in future years (cheme). Finally, something useful I can put on my resume!

[–]maguiar1024 0 points1 point ago

I had one of those! Then I lost it to the market crash of 2009. about half way to the same kind of work .

[–]escapeartist02 0 points1 point ago

So how did you manage to land it?

[–]sparton192 0 points1 point ago

Reddit will miss you :( Unless you are fortunate enough to be able to browse and "work"

[–]Pravusmentis 0 points1 point ago

Are they hiring? Seriously? Really, I'm not kidding. Help me please.

[–]meatwad75892 0 points1 point ago

Congrats! It's a good feeling. I graduated with a BS from the ITS department, got hired by the school to do IT work.

[–]kyledouglas521 0 points1 point ago

Congratulations, but, on a strictly Gif-related note, I would have so much sex with Chris Pratt.

[–]Dimples_R_Us 0 points1 point ago

Also a psych major in undergrad, which lead me to my psych-related grad degree and A JOB THAT IS RELEVANT TO MY MAJOR! So I actually like what I do (Instructional Design). Feels pretty damn good, doesn't it? Congrats!

[–]oconnorda 0 points1 point ago

[–]mrsticknote 0 points1 point ago

DAMN RIGHT HE DOES! edit: Read the topic as "This guy wins at parenting". Browsing too fast, my bad...

[–]Decon 0 points1 point ago

Luckily, with a degree in urban planing, everything seems relevant to my field... for some reason, that made me sad.

[–]LoveAndDoubt 0 points1 point ago

Congrats. I went into health policy mere months before the Affordable Care Act was passed. Lucky me, now health policy is hot, right? I've been looking for a job since last May.

[–]Retaliatronic 0 points1 point ago

Civil engineer in a similar position, reporting in!

[–]mistachill 0 points1 point ago

[–]mbchris6 0 points1 point ago

I am loving the rise of PnR gifs on the front page :)

[–]Gramma42ton 0 points1 point ago

You became an English literature teacher?

[–]MisterTibbs212 0 points1 point ago

you also got a little taste of that confetti!

[–]Des56 0 points1 point ago

I felt pretty confident that I would discover what your major was by sifting through these comments, alas I was wrong. Please put my mind at ease and say its English.

[–]endverse 0 points1 point ago

One course in Women's Studies and you've got a job already, eh?

[–]dezerez 0 points1 point ago

Sandwich 'artist'?

[–]Tangent2020 -2 points-1 points ago*

I have had a job relevant to my major for a while now... Too lazy to post link to gif of Arrested Development "I've made a huge mistake" on my phone.

Edit: I may be too lazy to post the link but I'm never too lazy to correct my mistakenly typed "to"s in place of "too"s

[–]pinkygonzales 4 points5 points ago

[–]Tangent2020 1 point2 points ago

I'll just donate that karma to those who took the energy to deserve it. Enjoy an up vote, sir.

[–]ronan007 2 points3 points ago

Why a mistake, if you don't mind me asking?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

Because he majored in philosophy.

[–]Tangent2020 0 points1 point ago

Was a mistake. Corrected it and made edit note.

[–]ronan007 0 points1 point ago

I meant why do you think you made a huge mistake getting a job relevant to your major :)

[–]njoung 0 points1 point ago

CONGRATULATIONS!

[–]Coffeepillow 0 points1 point ago

I landed one last month after 3 years of searching. Way to go!

[–]UnknownUser404 0 points1 point ago

This just happened to me the other day! I'd been working at a luxury watch shop for a year and a half, then I e-mailed I guy I met last year but hadn't spoken to in months. The next day he tells me he's sending my resume to another location in the company and that Friday I had my interview. I was hired several hours later. It was the best feeling in the world. That was 2 weeks ago now.

Good for you OP!
