I suppose if OP really wanted to argue his case he could suggest that according to Einstein's theory of relativity motion is only relative to your frame of reference. So it would be correct to say that the shuttle is moving relative to the earth, but it would be equally correct to say that it is the earth moving relative to the shuttle. In which case the shuttle could be thought of as sort of "hovering" or remaining stationary relative to the earth.
