This is old, guy has already been arrested. A joke taken too far. Catch up with the times
[–]billgarmsarmy 8 points9 points10 points 6 months ago
Info about arrest? Link to a news site of some kind, perhaps?

I hate to see shit like this. I don't agree with child abuse, but I don't know enough about the circumstances surrounding this picture to assume that there's actual abuse going on. I see a picture like this and I think 'This either child abuse or a prank.' But I don't immediately see red because there's just no way of knowing if there's an actual reason to. All these knee jerkers need to calm down.
[–]Kaceymack 8 points9 points10 points 6 months ago
A 22 month old doesn't know that you are joking when you do something like that. Must have been terrifying for that poor child, even if everyone was laughing and it was joke. That tape had to hurt like shit when they toolkit off her face.
Edit: spelling
[–]skypnd -1 points0 points1 point 6 months ago
It appears to be 3m painters tape, if it is, it most assuredly didn't hurt when it was taken off.
[–]Kaceymack 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago
It doesn't matter what type of tape was used on this poor kid. Terrifying. If that happened to me know by someone I knew I would be freaking out. Are you saying that because it's painters tape it makes this ok? I read the article and did not research what specific type of tape was used, but in my mind, the type of tape does not lessen the inappropriate action by the father.
[–]skypnd 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago
You;
That tape had to hurt like shit when they toolkit off her face.
Me;
Now that we have that cleared up, know that me pointing out what kind of tape it might be and that if it is said tape doesn't hurt when being removed from skin doesn't imply by any measure that I condone such behavior.

Do you have children? If yes, can you imagine to do this to your child? i dont think so. I cant imagine to do this to my child. This is no joke. The child doesnt seem to be old, the comment speaks for itself. If it is a joke, its not funny and could hunt the child for years. This has nothing to do with being over reactive or too serious, its just common sense. Just treat people and especially your family like you want to be treated. It isnt too hard.

This something my own father could of done to me, and I would have loved every minute of it. In fact he did stuff like that, and I remember trying to tie his hands too, and he would escape every time, I thought he was like Houdini.
My father also used to get a kick out of wet-willies, ice-cubes down the back of the shirts, tying peoples shoelaces together, and sneaking up behind me and scaring me for no reason.
Perhaps my father should of been jailed for this? Did this haunt me for years? Fuck no!
My old man has been dead for almost 20 years, and I'd be happy as fuck, no, honored to be tied up like that again. From later conversations with my mother, I learned that he was very insecure and unsure how to communicate with his kids, and that he tried his best playing it by ear, something I can relate to as a father myself.
However, I think usually this sort of reckless pranking on children is usually reserved for uncles, like one's who shot-put their nieces and nephews into swimming pools.
[–]envirosani 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago
22 months. This child was 22 months old. I wanna see the child which want to play houdini when it is that young. I dont say fathers shouldnt play with their children. Its about the right age to do so.

Who the fuck are you? You happen to know this will cause lifelong trauma on the kid? In general, as long as your not screaming at them or causing them pain, kids are happy as anything just to spend some time with you.
You happen to have a chart with all these activities, with their appropriate ages in them?
But then again, I'm an irresponsible father. I bought all sort of toys for my 22 month-old, that were actually recommended for the 4-5 year-old range. Those ages on the box we used mostly as a very loose guideline, good thing the cashiers didn't ask to see my daughter's ID that she was, in fact, old enough for the toy.

I just got the chart which says:"DONT TAPE THE MOUTH OF YOUR 22 MONTHS YEAR OLD!"
Seriously dude, what are you arguing about? Do you want to defend the actions of the father? If not, what do you want from me? You just want to discuss some stuff you made up in your mind? I didnt said anything about toys. Read what i write and dont put some shit in my mouth.
[–]heylookitscaps -4 points-3 points-2 points 6 months ago
you sound like one of those bubble boy parent whack jobs. my dad used to throw me 25 feet in the air at 22 months and catch me. what if i had asthma?! what if i vomited at the peak of my ascent?! shut the fuck up.
[–]ahaltingmachine -1 points0 points1 point 6 months ago
I don't think being bound and duct taped is recommended for any age range.
Sidenote: Are you like actually retarded or something?
[–]ZenaLundgren -5 points-4 points-3 points 6 months ago
This is no joke.
How exactly can you prove that? That is my point.
Yes, I do have kids. And no, I would never tape them up like that. But I would also never take a picture of my children when they were babies if they were naked or even half naked no matter how cute they were at the moment out of the fear that some kneejerker would report me to the police for being a child molester.
I didnt say it wasnt intended as a joke by the father, but it is no joke to tape the mouth of your 22 moth old child. Why it isnt no joke? You know it it has asthma? No you dont, cause the child is too young to know. It could vomit and get some serious trouble breathing. All sorts of stuff could happen, especially because it is so young. If you want to play cowboy and indian with your 10 year old son, i dont care, but the stuff on the picture got out of hand.

Yeah, but they smell like shit once you win the auction and have to unwrap them.
[–]_Novanox_ 6 points7 points8 points 6 months ago
Too far?
[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 months ago
No, California (where I live) is not too far to ship a slave from Africa. You just need to give it a little extra water and food for the long boat ride around the southern tip of South America.
[–]_Novanox_ 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago
Not sure if serious...
[–]fervoli 1 point2 points3 points 6 months ago
Agreed. My sister's daughter (who is beautiful, btw) had very crooked teeth for most of her short life, and because kids can be cruel, this caused her embarrassment and low self-esteem. After a few years of braces, however, her teeth are now perfect, and she is developing into a more confident young woman as a result. Occasionally, my niece forgets to wear her retainer. On one such occasion recently, rather than reprimanding her privately, my sister decided to publicly humiliate my niece by posting a "before" photo of her on Facebook and asking, "Do you want to go back to looking like this?" I feel bad for that kid.
[–]Schroedingers_gif -2 points-1 points0 points 6 months ago
(who is beautiful, btw)
That's meaningless now. everyone is beautiful and you get downvoted for saying otherwise.
