Okay, for those unclear on what's going on here:

Fire play is a real thing and a lot of people do it... but you have to know what you're doing. It involves using Isopropyl Alcohol at the right percentage, which can burn on the body for 3-5 seconds without causing any harm. It's a lot of fun, and it's also a kink a lot of people have. But it does require knowing what you're doing, and one of the biggest dangers to look out for is that the fuel should never pool under the person or near any crevice (yes, what you just thought about can happen). The resulting fire is suddenly hard to put out before damage is done.

Enter the guys from Jackass, who evidently had no idea what they were doing. They used WAY too much fuel and let it pool. At least they had the available blanket!

I read once that the type of alcohol you spit is different than what you use against skin; something to do with flash points and how long the fuel burns. Skin you want something really quick, but to spit you want something that goes a little longer, or something to that effect.. anyone else remember seeing a post or website with this? Maybe the ethanol to water ratio? Alcohol that is high proof, over 70% ethanol, will burn much more quicker and release a lot more enegry. While alcohol between 50-60% will burn much slower, anything below 50% will not combust.

You'd still get burned. The trick is to keep the fuel above you so that it burns and evaporates off your skin. But it it gets under you, or you get over it, the heat will get you.
