Actually, slavery in the Bible was more akin to indentured servitude.

Only if the enslaved were fellow Jews.

Leviticus 25:44-46 44 ‘As for your male and your female slaves, whom you may have; of the nations that are around you, from them you may buy male and female slaves. 45 Moreover of the children of the aliens who live among you, of them you may buy, and of their families who are with you, which they have conceived in your land; and they will be your property. 46 You may make them an inheritance for your children after you, to hold for a possession; of them may you take your slaves forever; but over your brothers the children of Israel you shall not rule, one over another, with harshness.

Exodus 21 teaches that it's ok to beat slaves to death so long as they take a while to die.

Deuteronomy 20:10-14 gives instructions on taking slaves during wars of aggression; 10 When you draw near to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it. 11 It shall be, if it makes you answer of peace, and opens to you, then it shall be, that all the people who are found therein shall become tributary to you, and shall serve you. 12 If it will make no peace with you, but will make war against you, then you shall besiege it: 13 and when Yahweh your God delivers it into your hand, you shall strike every male of it with the edge of the sword: 14 but the women, and the little ones, and the livestock, and all that is in the city, even all its plunder, you shall take for plunder for yourself; and you shall eat the plunder of your enemies, which Yahweh your God has given you.

Deut 21 explicitly gives conquering soldiers the right to take women as sex slaves, "indentured servitude" indeed.
