Depends on the purpose. If you're making a picture for the web and you know you're going to save it once and once only, or if you have a lossless work file and save from that every time, then 60-70 quality JPG is still often the best choice, as it's smaller than 24 bit PNG and you won't be able to see the artifacts or loss in quality, but the size is a lot smaller. Modern bandwidth notwidthstanding, there's still no reason to use more than necessary.

When not dealing with web/streaming 24 bit PNG is usually the better choice as it's lossless and can be opened and saved as many times as you want without any loss of quality. 8 bit PNG is always better than GIF because the compression is simply better, resulting in the same image with less size.

I'd generally take Coke over Pepsi, however if Pepsi was available then sure id take some Pepsi. Fanta is an occasional thing, having too much of it doesn't feel too great. Big Cola I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole.
