I agree that Optimus Prime is epic, but the entire reason that jesus was supposed to be epic was because he was so simple. The author tried to glorify him by showing how simple he was, but then the surprise was... "He is god."

Old stories are really lame compared to today's stories, but I think you are missing the point the author was trying to convey.
