I agree that that specific example is bad reddiquette, but i don't think i should upvote something more in a subreddit for which i'm subscribed. I do because i tend to agree more with the people in said subreddit. My wonders about smoking was because of the stress-reduction aspect and the hive-mind understandings that usually follow.
