Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Looks like he switched to timeline.

[–]Big_Shot_Jack 14 points15 points ago

and everybody's celebrating?

[–]GreenGiraffe89 247 points248 points ago

I'd be his friend.

[–]REj3cTioN 47 points48 points ago

I bet all the people from his high school wants to be his friend now

[–]shadynastys 191 points192 points ago

Stephen was being sarcastic.

[–]Measly 43 points44 points ago

He's quite good at that.

[–]Zoccihedron 26 points27 points ago

My relatives from Texas seem very convinced he is sincere on air.

[–]MGStan 13 points14 points ago

Hey now, I'm from Texas and take offense to that.

He is very sincere.

[–]MStoli 6 points7 points ago

He really wasn't though, him and I share the same high school and it's common knowledge around here that he didn't like it. He didn't have any friends, maybe because he was years ahead of everyone.

[–]DIDNT_GET_SARCASM 2 points3 points ago

Oh. :(

[–]moose_man 2 points3 points ago

I'd friend him so hard

[–]Whenthenighthascome 2 points3 points ago

In a fucking second.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points ago

if the outside of that robot was fitted to look like this, you'd sure want to be his friend!

Just a warning, NSFW.

"Tyrone"... Glee club... Obviously a black gay-loving liberal!

[–]OneRomaines 50 points51 points ago

I just realized the only Tyrone that I know is white.

Could someone explain what the 3's and 4's mean?

[–]BigJerd886 3 points4 points ago

I think it has something to do with electron orbitals...oh wait, uuhhhhhhhhhh (slows steps out of coversation)

[–]DrChadKroegerMD 12 points13 points ago

How many years he was in said club or group activity.

[–]lafayette0508 31 points32 points ago

I think it's which years he was in them. 1 - Freshman year, 2 - sophomore year, 3 - junior year, 4 - senior year. That's why there is more than one number listed next to some of the activities. Also, we can see that he didn't do anything is first few years, then said "oh shit, better get some activities for my college applications!"

[–]agissilver 4 points5 points ago

Then what is "Entered 6" and on the next page "Entered 9"?

[–]lbr218 8 points9 points ago

It is the grade in school that he entered the Porter-Gaud School. So its saying he entered in 6th grade, while the guy on the next page entered in 9th grade.

[–]lafayette0508 3 points4 points ago

I don't know. What would "Debating Club 3, 4," mean if they meant the number of years you are in the club? He was in the club for 3 years, and also 4 years?

[–]Bananavice 2 points3 points ago

That he was in it year 3 and year 4

[–]lafayette0508 0 points1 point ago

Yes, that's exactly what I said above.

[–]Bananavice 0 points1 point ago

Ah yes, I misconstrued your comment.

[–]agissilver 0 points1 point ago

Good point. My guess is it might be the number of nicknames they submitted?

[–]lafayette0508 0 points1 point ago

Or maybe the year they entered the school. It's a private school, so it could be middle school and high school combined.

[–]Kilidiscope 47 points48 points ago

since when do you put your address in a year book?

[–]Space_Masters 136 points137 points ago

Back when people wrote letters?

[–]CraineTwo 52 points53 points ago

I don't understand why anyone would want to write a letter to someone. Wouldn't it make more sense to write words and sentences instead?

[–]k2cougar 28 points29 points ago

[–]SUBLIME4EVER 7 points8 points ago

god damn i love spongebob

[–]Protocol_Fenrir 0 points1 point ago

Makes sense, now a days you as long as you have someone's name or email address you can basically find them on any social media network. Back then the only way to get in touch with an old class mate was through letters, and usually people moved, etc., so your only shot was hoping their parents still owned the house address listed in your yearbook and could update you on their new address if you wanted to contact them.

[–]irishelcid 22 points23 points ago

He went to Porter-Gaud in Charleston,SC (same as my sisters). It's a very high end private school and in Charleston being from the battery (where his address was) is a big deal. Doesn't surprise me that the school would flaunt that.

[–]mi6gonzo 7 points8 points ago

TIL Stephen Colbert came from a wealthy family, and lived right on the ocean: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/39-E-Battery-St-Charleston-SC-29401/10905441_zpid/

[–]Caladriel 1 point2 points ago

Not technically on the ocean. It's the confluence of the Ashley and Cooper Rivers before they meet the ocean.

[–]wowshamwow 1 point2 points ago

Well I imagine the large house (6000+ square feet) was a necessity considering he had 10 siblings

[–]irishelcid 0 points1 point ago

Good find, that's the place.

Edit: it's actually right on the harbor looking towards Ft. Sumter. The battery in Charleston is where the confederate troops fired from when they laid siege to the fort in 1861.

[–]ideawolff 1 point2 points ago

not true.. they fired from James Island

[–]irishelcid 0 points1 point ago

You're right. Mortars from James Island. As a former resident of Charleston, I'm ashamed I messed that up.

[–]Pseudophobic 1 point2 points ago

Are you an alum as well?

[–]irishelcid 1 point2 points ago

I'm not. We moved to Charleston my senior year of high school and Porter Gaud wouldn't accept people who tried to transfer in for just their last year. I didn't want to repeat my junior year so I went to a different school closer to where we lived outside of Charleston.

[–]Pseudophobic 1 point2 points ago

Yes, I understand. I was trying to gage if I might have known you while I was a student there.

[–]17_irons 0 points1 point ago

What year did you graduate?

[–]Pseudophobic 0 points1 point ago

A couple of years ago. You?

[–]DogPencil 1 point2 points ago

[–]Valdair 25 points26 points ago

[–]SexySorcerer 2 points3 points ago

I... I guess you're the second Craine or something.

[–]HungryTacoMonster -1 points0 points ago

and you, my friend, are a sorcerer who some apparently consider sexy. I, unfortunately, am not one of those people. I don't swing that way. Sucks, dude.

[–]AJM77 24 points25 points ago

[–]alekbalazs 7 points8 points ago

I thought it was interesting that "Debate Team" and "National Forensics League" were 2 entries

[–]PixyFreakingSticks 14 points15 points ago

I would like to know what a Rowdy Club is.

[–]HatesFacts 16 points17 points ago

In our high school, the debate team was a separate entity than the speech team. Speech team comprised of different categories - I was in impromptu (not musical) and extemporaneous. Impromptu honed my bullshitting ability quite dramatically and has saved my ass on more than a few occasions. If you are unfamiliar, this is where you are given 3 words and have 30 seconds to formulate a 5 minute speech on one of them.

[–]alekbalazs 2 points3 points ago

For us, it was all one team. All events had both speech and debate events, (with the exception of some state and national qualifiers for the sake of speed) but we had to do point reports for both that all went to the NFL.

[–]potterHead1121 2 points3 points ago

It was the same for us but there were definitely two different teams within the larger team. The debate team and then the speech team. Also, along with Impromptu and extemporaneous speaking there were drama events as well. Dramatic Interpretation, Improvisational Duo, Dup Interpretation, ect.

[–]djicebergus 1 point2 points ago

I also thought that this was interesting since the NFL counts point for debate, speech, congress, service, state, and nationals for your aggregate points, which would suggest that "debate" would be included in his NFL membership. But whatever.

[–]ProjectD13X 6 points7 points ago

Fucking NFL tournaments man.... so disorganized....

[–]bobosaurs 2 points3 points ago

goddamn, I know right? I swear, the tab room could only publish results after the proper goat sacrifice ritual.

[–]ProjectD13X 1 point2 points ago

I once got to a tournament at 7:30 AM, didn't get my first debate until around 3:00 PM

[–]meaintrussell 0 points1 point ago

Woo-hoo! LD! :D

[–]WorldLeader 0 points1 point ago

DX and Policy Debate is how I ROLL mothafucka! None of this LD or PFD bullshit.

[–]sj2011 -1 points0 points ago

Yeah buddy!! Great memories from that in HS - an bear with the bragging, but my best accomplishment in HS was going to nationals in Atlanta in 2003!

[–]jemappellesarah 58 points59 points ago*

He is seriously attractive. Still is for someone twice my age, but damn.

HUNH?

[–]PricklyPricklyPear 18 points19 points ago

I want to be in the Rowdy Club...

[–]SaltyBabe 2 points3 points ago

Or Vestry... what even is that?

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points ago

Vestry is the group of selected Upper School students most directly involved with the campus ministry. It's an Episcopal school, and the kids on Vestry work directly with the Chaplain to help with Bible studies, planning for chapel, etc.

[–]SaltyBabe 0 points1 point ago

I looked it up on Wikipedia and all I got was it was a room in a church or something, so this is a much better explanation.

[–]GreatCornolio -1 points0 points ago

What is that?

RTAWFY

[–]WheelsOfConfusion 12 points13 points ago

I am actually really surprised that politics was listed. I've read/seen several interviews where he said that he was never really interested in politics until he got the job at The Daily Show.

[–]mackmgg 1 point2 points ago

Regardless of how into politics he was at that age, that would be a hard debate club to win in.

[–]St-Moustache 5 points6 points ago

After reading that list of clubs I'm pretty sure Stephen Colbert is the real world version of Max Fischer from Rushmore.

[–]At0Low 0 points1 point ago

That movie was great

[–]alpacapaca 4 points5 points ago

Is that is home address? Did they use to do that in yearbooks? Weird

[–]HatesFacts 12 points13 points ago

If it is, his house was torn down according to google street view (empty lot where it states the address is located).

[–]elise993tt 4 points5 points ago

I don't think it was torn down. It appears to just be set back in the lot.

Here is a Panoramio picture that shows the house a little better.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

sad

[–]smred 1 point2 points ago

But geez there are some nice houses around there.

[–]SaltyBabe 4 points5 points ago

People used to write letters...

[–]Pr0cedure 0 points1 point ago

So... It was like e-mail, but slower?

[–]SaltyBabe 0 points1 point ago

Yes, with out the "E" mostly.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

It is. We still put the address on the senior page. I'm really not sure why either.

[–]Alsta 5 points6 points ago

Good God it is like Max Fischer from Rushmore in the flesh.

[–]TrebeksUpperLIp 6 points7 points ago

I saved Latin. What have you ever done.

[–]diardiar 3 points4 points ago

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oASYa-Wkroc This will forever be my favorite Stephen Colbert thing.

[–]jifwu 5 points6 points ago

This made me sadface, but laugh at the same time.

[–]MStoli 3 points4 points ago

Unfortunately, the page isn't entirely tongue and cheek. He was horribly teased in high school, and there's a level of truth and validity to his lamenting.

[–]Peachalicious 5 points6 points ago

Charleston!

[–]Worldsbestboss 12 points13 points ago

Michael Scott's the poor man's Stephen Colbert.

[–]silvamagic 4 points5 points ago

[–]flava-slave 2 points3 points ago

[–]BurningMelon 2 points3 points ago

[–]gym_lone 2 points3 points ago

[–]xCorruptedxDatax 2 points3 points ago

[–]downward_dogma 2 points3 points ago

Was anyone else's inner monologue using Stephen's voice to read that yearbook page?

[–]WISCOrear 2 points3 points ago

My god Stephen, take me. In a non gay way.

[–]BonerBoy 2 points3 points ago

[–]vvvvvvvvvvirtualhead 2 points3 points ago

[–]pradeepkanchan 2 points3 points ago

Did he make it regionals with his glee club?

[–]donde_esta_el_bano 7 points8 points ago

Tyrone? Obviously his parents can't see color either.

[–]ShallowBasketcase 2 points3 points ago

They only saw the content of his character.

[–]dermballs 2 points3 points ago

His family originated from County Tyrone in Ireland.

[–]burritosmane 4 points5 points ago

don't downvote me, but i seriously can't tell- was he being a smart ass and goofing around, or was he seriously picked on? cant tell if sarcasm...

[–]DaJoW 30 points31 points ago

Pretty sure he was being a smart-ass, I don't think someone who got picked on would have made themselves an even bigger target by saying stuff like that. Plus, he's Stephen Colbert.

[–]TrebeksUpperLIp 19 points20 points ago

Also he's clearly hanging out with his homies in that picture...

[–]plateoshrimp 7 points8 points ago

He would have made a perfect Redditor.

[–]razihk 3 points4 points ago

He was the chosen one.

[–]PedroElOzo 6 points7 points ago

He IS a Redittor :)

[–]plateoshrimp 0 points1 point ago

I meant in his youth, assuming the internet and Reddit were around.

[–]JeMLea -4 points-3 points ago

Yeah he's not the perfect Redditor anymore because he's OLD!

[–]windsostrange 9 points10 points ago

Psst... We're redditors, we're twice your age, and we're all around you.

[–]JeMLea 0 points1 point ago

This is funny because I'm 47! No actually im 33 but I was really making a joke about people thinking redditors can't be older than 19..... Oh well gotta work on my phrasing next time.

[–]ShallowBasketcase 4 points5 points ago

I read this as sarcastic, I'm sorry you're being downvoted for that.

[–]sirWillard 1 point2 points ago

Do you think hes finally achieved his ambitions?

[–]Space_Masters 1 point2 points ago

Are you forgetting his black friend Alan?

[–]koolaidman123 1 point2 points ago

But on the bright side, he has an ice cream flavor. I would gladly trade all of my friends for my own ice cream flavor.

[–]MoonJive 1 point2 points ago

Damn, he lived on Battery? I knew his parents were well off, but damn. That is some old money Charleston right there.

[–]EcclesCake 2 points3 points ago

Nicely set up with those interests! Debating, film, singing, languages, leadership, politics, and "rowdy".

[–]whirliscope 2 points3 points ago

If you're wondering how he can be in a picture with six other people yet have no friends it's that those are probably all his siblings.

[–]unionjackattack 1 point2 points ago

Is that Josh Brolin on the bottom right?

[–]7zark77 0 points1 point ago

Not remotely! You have seen The Goonies, right?

[–]sergeantsergeant 1 point2 points ago

I had no idea Stephen Colbert was in the NFL.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points ago

I am actually a member of the same NFL. We have fake points too!

[–]El_Rista1993 1 point2 points ago

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

who would have thought that Stephen Colbert was a Forever Alone guy?

[–]Pravusmentis 0 points1 point ago

That is kind of sad, reminds me of the Nikes guy, he has no friends. That said, I know a better place for this

[–]Devywhop 0 points1 point ago

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Yep. It's down to half a page now, but you still get the Spanish Inquisition thrown at you (all of that information + predictions for the future, fondest memories, favorite quotes, etc.).

[–]Dadentum 0 points1 point ago

seniors at my school only got a photo slightly larger than the non-seniors'

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, it's probably because we have so few students. My graduating class only consisted of 82 (which I'd say is fairly average-to-large here), so it's nice to be able to have room to do a big senior page.

[–]Matt1726 0 points1 point ago
