There's too much hate in the world. Religion is certainly a major cause for that, but I think the root of the problem isn't religion, or politics, or any one person. I think the root of all evil is rage, hate, and fear. Rage blinds you to reason, hate drives your misguided rage, fear cloaks the real problems like some kind of shadow. We are always uncertain and afraid of what will happen next, it makes us cynical and easy to enrage. We don't ever stop as a group to reason, and as individuals we are too afraid to go against the crowd despite better judgement and so we convince ourselves our ideas of peace are wrong, and the crowd MUST be right. That's when we let the hate of the groups we are involved with flow through us, we are blind and like dogs easily controlled. The almighty mob says "sick em" and we do.

Of course this isn't limited to religion, or politics! That's just human nature really, we feel the need to belong to something because we don't know who we are, and our groups define us. Why is there such a huge following to anonymous? In an ironic but very true way, being part of "anonymous" gives us a feeling of who we are and to abandon that probably takes greater courage than most of us even have. The thing is, as is the case with most large groups, we can't escape doing some very bad things to people eventually all of them end up the same way. We look back and say "oh wow look at how awful those people were treated" as we go off to hate some other strangers we don't even know to the core. Realistically, we're all people and that's it, we think differently but our core motivations are the same and if we could just get to that I think the world would be a far better place. I do believe that you have a choice to do the thing that upsets a person, because you feel you've been wronged, but I also believe the better choice is to try to utilize reason even in the most severe cases.

Sometimes no one, even me, would blame a person for hurting someone else. If someone shot Hitler, I don't think anyone would lose any sleep. If you ask me though if it was the right thing to do, if it was the thing to do that would turn the tide of battle on the darkest parts of humanity...I wouldn't say so. The right thing to do would be to incarcerate the man, as a safety precaution and try to help him and to understand where his problems come from. Try and prevent those problems arising again, and while we might never ever be able to eliminate hate, fear, or rage I think it's worth trying with all we have and maybe that will make the difference in the world that we need.
