No noise from a deer cam? What then? I was looking on google to see how deer cams work. Some were able to take quick multiple pictures. Could these deer be reacting to something other than the first flash? Maybe the hunter was behind the tree, calling out "Say cheese"?

It's a camera set up outside a house/ near a good hunting spot that is triggered by motion, it could be used to get good candid shots of deer, keep track of how large/small a population is in a particular area, or find the best times of day/night to hunt.

Also known as a game camera or trail camera they are cameras you set out in weatherproof containers set to take pictures either periodically or triggered by something such as motion. They are often used by hunters to determine the suitability of a particular area for hunting, naturalists and other scientists to track various animals that tend to avoid people (wolves, wolverines, what have you), and bird watchers cause they are cool as fuck (I fall into that category). Source: my memory, didn't bother looking it up, apologies for any errors.

Was thinking the same thing. I've also never seen so many in one photo or any of my friends' photos either. Originally thought it had to be fake. If it isn't, I'm buying a ticket to where ever this guy is.

I wish it was still deer season. Down here in Texas even turkey season has been stopped in a lot of counties because of the drought and low numbers these days. I suppose we always have our wild boar.

Deer on the left, the one whose shadow is on the tree. For some reason its shadow is being cast in the direction that the light source is coming from. Somebody messed their perspective shadow up. Also, camera flash shadows are much sharper and darker than that, not to mention it's not going to be much closer to the deer's body because the camera and light source are so close.

Not to mention that the camera goes off shortly and silently after it detects significant motion, so there wouldn't have been enough time for all the deer to move into frame, much less all look up and directly at the camera at once.

I know that it's a pretty obvious shop, but some people are gullible, an I have time on my hands.

It may not be a picture from an automatically triggered camera. However both shadows, the left one that you mentioned and the one on the right go in the same direction, which is up and to the right, indicating that the light source is to the left of the camera and a bit below the height of the deer's heads. The deer on the right has a sharper shadow than the one on the left since it is closer to the tree on which the shadow is cast.

So... shop or not, I don't know, but I don't think the shadows betray it.

Except on tree-cams, the flash comes from the same place the camera is, which is why. The reason the one on the left is more blurred isn't because it's further away, because when there is only one light source, and it is a bright one (such as a camera flash), shadows will be be very sharp with more blurring at the edge of the reach of the light. It is blurred because the 'shadow fade' setting can't match tat shadow.

Not like there aren't other tells, such as 50+ deer in frame...

Yes, that's a widely known fake, as is the one where the deer appears to be looking directly at the little ghost girl. Seems for a while people were taking the SD cards out of trail cams and photoshopping mysterious/spooky stuff onto the real pics from the trail cams and leaving the images to freak out the hunters or land owners.

I just liked the album because of the Bobcat images! Who knew there were so many Bobcats wandering around!
