It looks like the train arrives right after he trips her. Usually, at least in NYC, the right of way rule is sort of unofficially suspended if there is an approaching train. It is quite common for people to sort of frantically poke through in order to make their train, which is understandable considering they potentially have 10+ minutes to lose vs your 2 seconds of letting them past. I don't think he should have tripped her, but I think she should have been apologetic at least.

Looks to me like they approached at the same time, she put her ticket in the machine (which makes it turn when entering) and then looked up and saw him.

But she had already put her ticket in so she should go through first or lose her money, maybe.
