    I was originally going to tell you it couldn't happen because your image was way too small, but I realized I could use a challenge. It's still kinda small because any larger and that image would look awful, and I had to recreate 1/3 of it to make it work.

    Also, I'm glad you like them, but they still belong to the photographer. I'm not really doing anything.

        It's when farmers put too much fertilizers, which, because of rain etc goes into bodies of water. Since these fertilizers have potassium + phosphorus + nitrogen etc and other nutrients for plant growth, it promotes algae growth. This blocks the sunlight for the aquatic plants, so no photosynthesis, which limit the oxygen inside the body of water; this kills the plant, the fish, and the whole lot, making the lake or other bodies of water smelly piece of shit.

        I'd like to add that many species of algal bloom produce neurotoxins. When you see signs that say "Don't let your pets swim in or drink the water", it's because of this.

        Duckweed prevents eutrophication because it inhibits the growth of algae. We grow it to feed our chickens and tilapia, to control algae blooms, and to purify our aquaponic water. We've also eaten it. It is high in protein and tastes like lettuce. It is an evasive plant that can take over lakes, but it is great for our little ecosystem.

        Algae does not float on top of the water like duckweed. If that was algae, it would be more soupy and not be dispersed in the wake of the tiger's movement. Duckweed makes ponds look like putting greens. Tiny pieces of duckweed would also stick to you if you wade in a pond with it as happened to the tiger. I grow both algae and duckweed.

            The green stuff is algae so it being green has nothing to do with polution. But the algae is likely caused by fertiliser running off into the water. China had a big issue with it on its coast a few years back.
