Good surfing scene in Arizona.

Always gotta be prepared for Cali falling off

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I live in Arizona, and there is a ranch where I live called Ocean Front Ranch. Hes prepared.

[–]seriously-akward10 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Haha Where is that? I have never heard of that ranch.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Not revealing mah city, but its not a real ranch with horses and such. Its more of a few acres of land they own and their land is just named that and has a large decorated wooden wall at the front of their driveway with the name on.

[–]seriously-akward10 0 points1 point ago

Further north. Though I wouldnt be surprised if there were more places in AZ named such things that imply California breaking off into the ocean.

I also reside in az, Goodyear, where's this ranch?

Would you believe me if I told you I surf ever summer in Arizona?... Behind a boat on the lake..

[–]Larrea_tridentata 6 points7 points ago

Lake Pleasant? Roosevelt Lake is pretty awesome as well.

[–]seriously-akward10 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

We usually go to Saguaro and Canyon because its closer to us in the valley. I have been up to Roosevelt and Pleasant but they are a little far away and I dont like the marina at those lakes as much. Powell is really good too. But that is more in Utah I think haha.

I was curious. Looks pretty awesome

[–]seriously-akward10 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It is. The problem with that video is that is that they are going WAY to fast and dont have enough wait in the back. We have extra ballists on our boat and we can get a sick curl on a wave. My dad is like 200 lbs and can ride it for 15-20 minutes straight. Its fun too if you get a REAL surf board and try it that way. Way more buoyant and lot easier to stay in the way. Its just too big to have on the boat racks.

We have super laxed concealed carry laws here. This on top of insane amounts of sun for the tan line.

[–]dokydoky 7 points8 points ago

I would consider this to be open carry.

[–]SirRipo 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Which is perfectly legal in most states.

[–]Fagel88 -2 points-1 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Sort of...I grew up in California just outside San Francisco. I was shocked to find out after a bit of research that open carry was perfectly legal, however I would thoroughly enjoy watching someone try to exercise this right in an open public place. I would give them 5 to 10 mins max before they were face down on the pavement surrounded by every officer in the city with guns drawn. Eventually they would need to release you as long as everything was in order but unless you want to be detained at gunpoint everyday before you can even get your coffee open carry is completely impossible.

[–]Couchpatator 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

California is a complex state, sure it may be legal on the books but to say it's "perfectly legal" is a misnomer.

[–]Kamon2011 3 points4 points ago

[–]seriously-akward10 2 points3 points ago

Yah we usually just go out into the desert and shoot. The amount of ammo we go through sometimes is kind of ridiculous.

[–]msaz87 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It's not like we're the only ones. Case in point: Florida. In Arizona we actually have a duty to retreat, whereas in Florida (as exemplified by the Trayvon Martin case) they don't. Plenty of sun there too and an actual surf scene.

[–]piottofdoom 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

No, no duty to retreat. We're a stand-your-ground state, meaning there is not duty to retreat and that self-defense is permissible without retreat, even outside of the home.

[–]msaz87 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

My mistake, I took a concealed weapons class a month or two ago and could have sworn the instructor said we weren't a stand your ground state.

Concealed carry into bars got me to stop going to bars.

[–]john_was_here 8 points9 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Bars can, and mostly do, prohibit firearms. I have yet to see a bar in Arizona that doesn't have a sign saying "Firearms prohibited".

[–]yesukai -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Are you retarded? How does a non-drinking person legally carrying a weapon they are licensed to carry make any damn difference in going out to a bar? The people going to start shit guns in a bar are the people who were already carrying regardless of the law.

[–]sqwarlock 6 points7 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

While I agree with the point of your comment, I'd like to point out that here in AZ you no longer need a license to carry. Concealed or otherwise.

[–]yesukai 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

But you do need a permit to carry concealed in a bar.

[–]Metriste -3 points-2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

This was a bill that was proposed a few times, but always shot down. CCW license requirements are still in effect; I just got my renewal application in the mail.

[–]piottofdoom 6 points7 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

No, it passed. You do not need a permit to carry in AZ...if you're on foot, not in a bar, not in a car, not within 1000ft of a school, etc. It is technically legal to carry permitless here but there are still a ton of restrictions, which is why we still offer permits.

[–]crumblybutgood 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Otherwise-unrestricted states issue permits to facilitate residents' carrying in other states. CCW-with-permit states often honor out-of-state permits.

[–]yesukai 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

No, you do not need a license to carry concealed in Arizona.

[–]dezman2011 15 points16 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

My brain hurts trying to read your comment. Please edit it so us "retarded" folk can parse it.

[–]yesukai 23 points24 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

How does a person who is:

  • Not-drinking
  • Legally carrying
  • Trained to legally carry

effect:

  • your decision to attend bars

when:

  • people who would cause a problem in a bar
  • with a gun

are:

  • not following the law in the first place
  • probably carried in the bars before the law.

?

[–]dezman2011 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Much appreciated. Where did the comment you replied to say "not-drinking"?

[–]yesukai 19 points20 points ago

[–]fall0ut -1 points0 points ago

i got it. the guy taking the responsibility to get a concealed license is not the guy you have to worry about shooting the place up. it's the guy in the hoodie who doesnt have the concealed license.

[–]yesukai 4 points5 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

So how did a law allowing people to conceal carry in bars when properly license change AZRugger's bar attending habits? (that's the point)

[–]dezman2011 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Kinda of an interesting topic. The hoodie hangs out with people all day who would probably murder him if he got drunk and aggressive. The concealed licence guy...not so much. I don't know who I'd rather be around honestly the drunk hoodie or the drunk cowboy.

[–]pandalin 4 points5 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

She could be left-handed.

[–]kibble 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I thought of that, but my own reaching suggests that the gun would be further around to the right side. When I put my hand behind my back, my knuckles seem to comfortably align with my spine, which would suggest to me that the gun, if I was left-handed, would be to the right of my spine with the handle pointing left. Never having done this, I'm open to correction.

[–]pandalin 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I think it could work the way it is. Holster placement is really dependent on what the wearer finds most comfortable.

[–]DobermanCavalry 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Yes, the gun would only point the way it shows in this picture if the person bought a right handed holster and tried to put it on their left side.

*Citation needed.

[–]Athegon 1 point2 points ago*

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Florida was one of the first states to pass a shall-issue concealed carry statute back in the 80s that started the nationwide trend of support for 2A and concealed carry. They were also the first states to pass stand your ground laws. They recently passed a law prohibiting medical professionals from asking about firearms in the home.

AZ's gun laws are still better in general (full constitutional carry, full NFA ownership, full state preemption), however.

[–]drunk_flying 1 point2 points ago
