I love the St. Elsewhere reference that every TV show is linked.

http://home.vicnet.net.au/~kwgow/crossovers.html

[–]Darkblitz9 35 points36 points ago

that's... kind of creepy awesome.

[–]Enlarged2ShowTexture 82 points83 points ago

What is this I don't even...

My mind is blown.

[–]ToastmahGhost 131 points132 points ago

I once heard something that this reminded me of. Remember when ash fell off his bike in pokemon? he didn't start seeing pokemon until after. When he fell off the bike he had to be taken to the hospital and was in a comatose state, imagining the entire world.

[–]hulksmash7 103 points104 points ago

If you ruin this for me i will find you and feed you to yourself. Now everyone just calm down and leave the last vestibules of my childhood alone.

[–]KorbenD2263 85 points86 points ago*

[–]Salva_Veritate 44 points45 points ago

Gary Oak is what Ash wants to be.

No, Gary Oak is what everyone wants to be.

[–]rmhawesome 16 points17 points ago

YOU CAN'T IGNORE HIS GIRTH

[–]rokr41 1 point2 points ago

HE'S GARY MOTHERFUCKING OAK!

Also, you people just ruined tv for me. I'm oddly fascinated.

[–]DaBigCheese 15 points16 points ago

Why did you do this to me??

[–]gazow 12 points13 points ago

giovanni is ash's father? WHAT THE FUCK MAN

[–]Vexing 14 points15 points ago*

that's actually not such a big leap. They show a silhouette of Ash's father somewhere in the show and I swear to god it looks EXACTLY like Giovanni. I may have also just made that up, but I'm 90% sure.

I might rewatch the series to confirm this.

[–]KindredBear 12 points13 points ago

if youre going to post something like that, at least post the source, not an inane repost on a forum... Actual link...

[–]KorbenD2263 12 points13 points ago

Considering that the very beginning of the article attributes the source to 4chan, there is no 'actual link', only reposts of reposts. That being said, your link is much more readable, and I thank you.

[–]MasterSprtn117 2 points3 points ago

ಠ_ಠ

That was....interesting.

[–]callmedabau5 29 points30 points ago

That reminds me of something I read about 'The Rugrats'. I don't remember where I got it from because I saved it as a text file on my computer because I thought it was so interesting. Here's what it was:

The babies in Rugrats don't exist and are products of Angelica's imagination because her mother ignores her and her relationship with her father is shallow and parasitic. In reality, Chuckie died along with his mother, which is why Chaz is such a nervous wreck. Tommy was a stillborn, which causes Stu to sit in the basement making toys for his son that never had a chance to live, and the DeVilles had an abortion. Angelica couldn't decide whether the unborn child would be male or female and thus simply invented the same character in her head twice with different genders.

As for "All Grown Up" Angelica was a bipolar schizophrenic who, as a teenager became addicted to various Narcotics, bringing her back to her childhood and thus her creations she obsessed over, because of time lapse between the present and the last time she interacted with her creations, she made them older, Angelica was constantally taking hits of acid, so she would never have to live without her creations who were her only company, in a judgemental world

Angelica's mom actually died of a heroine overdose, Angelica was schizophrenic/bipolar because she was a crack baby, additionaly Drew in his depression married a gold digging whore, that Angelica idolized because she fooled herself into thinking it was her real mom, but always had a concept of her mom, Cynthia, and took a barbie doll, and made it after her mom's image, wearing an unwashed oranged dress, and having jacked up hair, which is why she was so attached to it, later in life she followed in her mom footsteps w/ drugs and everything, dieing of overdose at age 13 when All Grown Up! was "canceled"

The only rugrat not to be fictional however, was unborn Tommy's brother Dil, however Angelica didnt know the differace between Dil and her creations, Dil didnt follow her commands, after endless crying and a refusal to disapear like the others did when angelica was angry with them, she hit him. And she hit him, screaming a screaching tune, Stu ran in and pulled his neice off of his only child, but it was too late, he had a brain hemerage, which resulted in a deformation, as he grew up his damage only became more evident, by the time he was 9 in All Grown Up! He lived as an outcast, being ridiculed for his weirdness, and retardation, the immense guilt over this is what led to her drug use and is what led Angelica to un-create the rugrats breifly, until her expericance w/ hallucinogenics.

On a trip to Paris to find love, Chaz married a hooker named Kira (He was actually going to marry a differant hooker, but she just wanted him for his money), who had a daughter named Kimi that was torn from her because she was a cocaine addict (Angelica imagined her from Kira's stories), he lost his mind after the death of his wife and was in denial that she was ever prostitue, upon return to America, Chaz and Kira married and she got her greencard, it was actually a really happy/romantic story, Kira continually stuggled with addiction, but was relatively happy w/ her life, and Chaz

Suzie was actually Angelica's only friend, who entertained the thought of Angelica's creations, for her, She later became a phycologist and teamed up w/ Nickelodeon to make the Rugrats! When Angelica died of drug overdose, she helped arrange her funeral, Angelica's death was sad, because of her addiction, she was expelled from society, which lead to a break with reality, and her eventual death, she spent the last days of her life in the back of the school cafeteria, imagining friends around her, and playing with the lives of her creations.

She died March 5, 1994.

[–]BIRDDUDE830 12 points13 points ago

I'm actually a little depressed now.

[–]FourteenHatch 23 points24 points ago

lik dis if u cry everytim

[–]Jewbilation 8 points9 points ago

I think you mean vestiges.

[–]hulksmash7 4 points5 points ago

I think you're right.

[–]KindredBear 2 points3 points ago

i think he said vestibule in reference to "the apparently sacred nature of childhood"

[–]Diabro3 1 point2 points ago

Welcome to the real world; how have you lasted this long with your bubble of innocence intact?

[–]brindle891 20 points21 points ago

Except the Pikachu, Pidgey, Spearow, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Dodrio seen before he fell off his bike...

[–]TheCrowing2113 19 points20 points ago

Adventure Time is set in a post apocalyptic world, in case you guys didn't know.

[–]TheBigElectron 2 points3 points ago

After the great mushroom war, if I'm not mistaken.

[–]TheCrowing2113 1 point2 points ago

Yeesir. Evidence is strewn throughout multiple episodes. It was a nuclear war.

[–]UpTheIron 1 point2 points ago

but that show is just full of childhood murdering shit

[–]TheCrowing2113 1 point2 points ago

Yea but I would do something like this if I wrote a children's show. I think these kinda theories are really cool. My favorite is the Ed, Edd, and Eddy alien and dead theories

[–]iplaygaem 27 points28 points ago

Didn't he fall off the bike after being chased by Sparrows?

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points ago

the first episode starts IMMEDIATELY with a.) ash watching a battle on TV, b.) his room cluttered with all sorts of pokemon paraphernalia, and c.) ash and his mom discussing his becoming a trainer.

[–]Hakoten 11 points12 points ago

In the real world Pokemon could've just been a game/TV show.

[–]ben345 7 points8 points ago

thank you... for saving my childhood. That article nearly killed me

[–]unladenswallow 15 points16 points ago

that thing is complete and utter bullshit

woah, the pacing of the show changes AFTER THE PILOT EPISODE? NO FUCKING WAY!

the whole world was pokemon-centric even before that, 10 year olds all got their pokemon and went off to become trainers

[–]Gecko99 3 points4 points ago

Was that in the first season somewhere? It's been a long time, but I seem to remember an episode where Pikachu was lost, and Ash thought he saw Pikachu for a split second, but it turned out to be a cat. Or am I just imagining things?

[–]Middens 5 points6 points ago

That was like the first episode, when he stole Misty's bike to get Pikachu to the hospital.

Maybe second.

[–]PurpleNoodles 1 point2 points ago

It's called the Pokemon Coma Theory. Google it, it'll be one of the first results.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points ago

this is... one of the stupider things i've ever heard.

if anyone would care to... watch the show, the first episode starts IMMEDIATELY with a.) ash watching a battle on TV, b.) his room cluttered with all sorts of pokemon paraphernalia, and c.) ash and his mom discussing his becoming a trainer.

[–]PurpleNoodles 2 points3 points ago

Yeah. I read it, and as incredibly interesting as it was to read, and had some good points, there is no way it could be true. The flaws in the series are just that - Flaws you aren't really supposed to think about. It's a kids show, it's not going to be perfect.

[–]ToastmahGhost 1 point2 points ago

after starting this shit storm, I feel need to say that this is all speculation. Of course it isn't all some big metaphor. It's a kid's show. It's just interesting to think of it a different way.

[–]Sonic_Dah_Hedgehog 1 point2 points ago

He got pickachu before that along with trying to catch a pidgey and fight the spearows.

[–]yudnvoteallmyshitnow 1 point2 points ago*

Uh, except for the Pikachu he got from Oak earlier. And the fact that Gary bragged about being a better trainer while Ash was still in his PJs on his way to get said Pikachu from Oak. And the fact that when he woke up in episode 1 before even all that, he was dreaming about being a Pokemon master, under Pokemon sheets, clutching a Poke Ball alarm clock. And the fact that there are no birds, only the Pokemon Pidgey and Spearow. Your logic = swiss cheese.

And yeah, he did fall off a bike, for like two seconds... While carrying Pikachu in the basket, running from a flock of Spearow. So pretty much no part of that is true.

According to later games, your (or Ash's) dad ain't Giovanni either, he's the first Gym leader, but really, who takes Diamond & Pearl as canon, let alone the really new stuff?

[–]Rawbauer 8 points9 points ago

My mom was soooo mad when they aired the last episode.

[–]Justjonhenry 11 points12 points ago

While it is entertaining, I always felt the reason St. Elsewhere made so many references to other shows was the fact that it was in a child's mind. As a result he incorporated into his fantasy everything he had seen on TV, like the other night when I had a dream about having a duel to the death with Kermit the Frog. That doesn't mean I invented the character, i just reused him.

[–]FuckYoureShit 6 points7 points ago

Or the kid could have been using real life examples in his St. Elsewhere fantasy.

I'm not sure I properly read that website, but from my understanding they have some seriously faulty logic.

[–]Kratoyd 7 points8 points ago

A major flaw in this: what if the guy just watches a lot of TV, and his imaginary world was interconnected with all of the shows he watched?

[–]zeekar 2 points3 points ago

I'm a bit skeptical of some of those links. I mean, really, the John Larroquette Show had a crossover indicating it's in the same universe as Star Trek? Did they reveal that he was really a time-travelling, human-disguised Maltz doing research on late-20th-century Earth?

[–]PsychoticMormon 18 points19 points ago

It's small things that make a cross over apparently.

Galactica and firefly crossed over because a Firefly model starship was seen outside a window.

Malcolm in the middle with xfiles because of a brand of cigarettes.

It's companies and other junk like that I guess.

Think it's a 7 degrees of separation for tv shows.

[–]quinncuatro 10 points11 points ago

It's Firefly in the same universe as Alien, too? They have the same tool company.

[–]Heroshade 7 points8 points ago

I like the idea that while Mulder and Scully are out investigating aliens and super-natural phenomenon, Malcom and his brothers are up to their normal antics, none the wiser.

Meanwhile their dad is cooking meth in an RV.

[–]FortunePaw 1 point2 points ago

That firefly ship is more like an easter egg from the CGI people. There's also a ship named Kodiak which is from the Command & Conquer universe showed up in the the last episode, Daybreak.

[–]Malgas 11 points12 points ago

From the key:

John Larroquette Show referenced Yoyodyne. Many years in the future the same Yoyodyne built starships for Starfleet in the 24th century, including the U.S.S. Brattain and the U.S.S. Phoenix on Star Trek: The Next Generation, which features the adventures of the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise-D.

[–]zeekar 11 points12 points ago

Oh, hey, look! There's a key! Excuse me while I go hit myself in the head to knock some of the dumb loose.

Yoyodyne, huh? So they're all in the same universe as Pynchon's novels, too? "We Await Star Trek Enterprise"?

[–]DocFantastico 4 points5 points ago

Then the Adventures of Buckaroo Bansai also takes place in the Star Treck universe. The whole plot revolves around trans-dimensional aliens attempting to launch an invasion via a company called Yoyodyne.

[–]AnotherBoredAHole 3 points4 points ago

Honestly, that's all I can think of when I hear Yoyodyne even when I hear it mentioned in Star Trek.

[–]_Rand_ 1 point2 points ago

As grand list of how tv/movies/books reference each other, this is brilliant, but as I you point out, if you take it seriously it's rather silly.

In addition to yoyodyne the key also has references for weyland-yutani. So by the Buckaroo Banzai logic, The Alien/Predator series also happen in the Star Trek universe.

I can virtually guarantee that none the references in the list were trying to imply they were part of an elaborate fantasy of a kid from Sr. Elsewhere.

[–]ChuckEye 1 point2 points ago

On an episode of the John Larroquette show they mention a company called Yoyodyne.

Yoyodyne built starships for the federation in TNG.

[–]ever_more_serious 1 point2 points ago

"K9 and Company" is specifically selected. The first step in deciphering the code...

[–]moothemagiccow 1 point2 points ago

urgh i see xfiles but not the simpsons?

[–]TacosForMe 350 points351 points ago

The artist could have done without the three piercings in the "real" Frankie's ears. I just have a hard time believing that someone so far autistic that all they do is stare at a snow globe all day will go out to the mall to get three piercings in their ears.

[–]MyRelevantHaiku 41 points42 points ago

Have done a lot of work with autistic kids I don't think that an obsession of ear piercings is far off. I know one severally autistic girl who goes nuts at the thought of getting a tattoo.

[–]snowlion13 1 point2 points ago

the thing is, i dont know if they mentallly can understand how painful it is and the fact they would have to stay extremely still for a couple hours consecutively. thats what Id be worried about

[–]MyRelevantHaiku 1 point2 points ago

Oh I agree. Tattoos would definitely be out in my opinion, but I would understand allowing an autistic child to get an ear piercing because it doesn't have the long wait time or even the same pain a tattoo does. I simply mentioned the tattoo to explain the possibility of an autistic kid being concerned with something like an ear piercing.

[–]topsecreteltee 78 points79 points ago

That is a very adept observation. Good job and enjoy an upvote.

[–]DominantWalrus 142 points143 points ago

I kinda find this interpretation er explanation of the show almost beautiful the way it can connect something like autism to an upbeat cartoon like Foster's Home. Not sure if this makes sense

[–]Silence_Dobad 69 points70 points ago

I got goosebumps when I read it. It was brilliant.

[–]RAPT0RJESUS 38 points39 points ago*

does anyone have a link to that video? some of the hardcore redditors will know what i'm talking about.

NSFW JESUS

[–]TheMagicJesus 14 points15 points ago

Thanks for telling me

[–]Metadragon 7 points8 points ago

Wish I had been warned as well before I watched that without headphones with my roommates around

[–]mgpo222 26 points27 points ago

That escalated really quickly. Oddly enough, that was really well done.

[–]Mahuloq 11 points12 points ago

All of Zones stuff is really well done. Not sure if your into it but he has a bunch of Teen Titans stuff that looks great.

[–]mgpo222 3 points4 points ago

Oh they did the Teen Titans stuff? I was impressed with the quality on those. sigh the internet has ruined me.

[–]Mahuloq 2 points3 points ago

Ya there is a part 1 and 2 of like a Starfire, Raven one. Then a Raven Slade one. Then there is a Jinx-Cyborg one. He incorporates the shows voices and scenes into his which make them really well done. Yes, yes the internet has ruined us. Teen Titans was a great show, it really ended at a weird point. Like what happened to Terra, what WAS in the box they did the race for, who was the Red X?! The world may never know.

[–]NonnagLava 20 points21 points ago

What the FUCK did I just watch... I was speechless... And confused... For atleast two minutes.

[–]invaderkrag 9 points10 points ago

Is it sad that I've already seen this? And not on Reddit?

[–]MuggyFuzzball 69 points70 points ago

This show made its debut in 2004. You still have your childhood.

[–]probably-maybe 28 points29 points ago

My thoughts exactly. I'm 24 and don't really remember seeing much of this show when it first came out. That comment made me feel old.

[–]Pavlovs_Bell 3 points4 points ago

I know that feel bro.

[–]probably-maybe 12 points13 points ago

Sis* ;)

Edit: Either way, let us rejoice in remembrance of shows such as The Fairly Odd Parents and Animaniacs.

I know that feel sis.

[–]Smartio 1 point2 points ago

How young am I? I remember FOP clear as day but what is animaniacs? Sweet lord I am confused.

[–]slackermax 4 points5 points ago

This is based of the ending of saint elsewhere. In the series finale its reveled that an autistic kid dreamed up the entire series in his head. The best part about that is that through series tie ins, basically every show in the last 30 years or so are existing in an autistic child's head.

[–]themangosteve 4 points5 points ago

I hope everyone knows that this wasn't actually in the show.... The real final episode was about an imaginary friend living in a toy box.

[–]theLightOfTheBattle 1 point2 points ago

I commend you for your correction; however, your correction is incorrect. While this wasn't how the series ended, it didn't involve a toy box either.

[–]jsullivan1331 0 points1 point ago

While you guys are arguing about how an autistic girl would of pierced her ears, I'm having my childhood ruined.

[–]ralphlizard 0 points1 point ago

Only somewhat relevant, but look up the godhead theory if you want Skyrim (or TES in general) to similarly blow your mind.
