Some of it. TV and stereo were gone, apparently given away to "friends ". She was careful not to have anything that was obviously mine in her place. I got a tip from someone and I got my clothes and bed back, found by a dumpster but lots of shit was gone. Cops were cool about it but in the end wanted nothing to do with the case and considered it a civil matter. Meaning a poor 20 something stoner would have to put effort in to getting a lawyer etc... I said fuck it and considered it the price of admission for sticking my dick in crazy. I slept on a borrowed futon for a year in a nearly empty apartment until I met my new gf and current wife. I'm really lazy sometimes.

A portion of the loss is "real" blood, but only a few tablespoons of the fluid are actual blood. People who get really severely heavy menstruation might want to take iron, or people who have a hard time stopping the bleeding (it's not horribly uncommon for people to have such irregular bleeding that it just keeps up for quite a bit longer than it's supposed to). Since your body does put iron into the blood and lining loss, it wouldn't hurt to take iron, anyway. Some people need it more than others.
But it's not like a gushing wound in your crotch, like some girls make it out to be. If your period is pretty normal, you're not losing that much fluid and certainly not that much blood.
As for the headaches, that is generally due to the hormonal changes associated with menstruation.
