In America, the seniors in high school typically get out a month earlier then everybody else. Most schools start in September and get out in June, do the seniors would get out in May.Some schools Down South and the West Coast start school in August and get out May-ish. So if he is a senior and lives in an area that does this, then his last day if school could be 4/20.

American here, I have NEVER heard of this practice. As a senior we had finals a week early and got the last week for graduation fun stuff like going to an amusement park, senior brunch (where we signed yearbooks), and some other stuff I can't remember now. That week we still had to attend "school" just not the normal classes.

Up in the D we start after labor day and get out first or second week of June. Seniors at my school get out in two weeks, about a month before everyone else.

Don't say "typically," because as an American, I have NEVER heard of that in my life! I don't even think that it is legal for schools to do this! A public school is required by law to run for X number of days a year. (I believe it's something like 180 days, but this is up for states to decide)

Instead of going in for a fourth quarter of schooling, all seniors at my school leave to go off on internships, some located locally, others in NYC and some even farther away. As such, 4/20, the last of third quarter, is also my last day of schooling. On 4/23 I start my internship.

Last year it was a Wed. and I had no classes, so my nucks were hooted the whole day. This year, I get back from a business trip at noon and have the whole afternoon off. Next year, it'll be a Saturday, so that's 3 good 4/20s in a row.

I just found this out on Wednesday and about cried myself to death. It will be my first "official" 4/20... AND IT'S ON THE FRIDAY!!!

A sort of sad part, though, is that my roommate (who is my mentor in the ways of the Ent) had to stop to find a job, and may not have one by 4/20... But I told him we could just have Second 4/20, just like Hobbits have Second Breakfast. We'd be the Hobbits of Herb.

EDIT to the downvoters: Seriously look at a calendar that is how our calendars work. For 2012 4/20 is a Friday, for 2013 it will be Saturday, for 2014 it will be a Sunday. The calendar moves in a cycle each date next year is the next day in the week calender.

420 is basically a term for marijuana. It stated like this and somehow spread throughout the entire country. People try to smoke at 4:20 and 4/20 became something of a holiday. I personally think it's kind of dumb. You don't need a holiday to get high!

I think it will be next year too. If this year is a leap year, that means that every day was pushed one up in its year rotation. This means, if my calculations are correct, that next year it will be another Friday 4/20! Hooray for leap year!
