This is such a reminder to put petty things aside and focus on the things which truly matter.

Reddit.

I have that reading saved under my favorites as "Cheer Up". Every time I watch it I feel myself slowly sinking backwards into my chair. It is truly amazing the beauty and terror that can exist on something so small.

Jesus Christ, it's crazy how fucking small we are.

You have no idea.

400 billion stars in our galaxy, and there are over 100 billion galaxies.

That is truly incredible. I wish I could be conscious as the mote of matter that I am and remain that way for the duration of the universe. Just to see what happens with it and humanity in the end.

Full quote (Wikipedia).

Earth is nearly 4 billion miles away in this image.

goosebumps.

That picture was taken 22 years ago, and the Voyager 1 is still traveling deeper into space. It's hard to even grasp four billion miles.

Forget bickering - this is what ought to be on the front page of /r/atheism, ad infinitum.

"on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam"

That's the kicker.

Awesome

Good quote...I'm not trying to sound like a dick but unfortunately there is one error. It says that Voyager 1 left the solar system in 1990 when actually Voyager 1 has not left the solar system yet. It is currently in the heliosheath which is the outer layer of the heliosphere. It is currently unknown when Voyager 1 will leave the solar system since we have never had a spacecraft leave the solar system, but it is projected that it will happen soon.

i’ve got a tattoo of, “-on a mote of dust suspended on a sunbeam.” on my ribs. best tattoo decision I’ve made yet.
