Yup. A website with ads that's crashed because it got too many hits is a very good thing.

I made a little tool for r/Minecraft a few months back, and my baby server almost keeled over from the traffic, but I made like $20 in one day. For a small, rarely visited website, that's pretty darn good.
Totally worth the condescending email from my host telling me my traffic is too unpredictable.

The other way around is better. Link to the source, and provide a mirror in the comments. Comic creators want traffic. Getting so much the website fails is actually a good thing (albeit with a mildly-unfortunate consequence), and a lot of them have sites that won't fail.

The only problem with that, is since June of last year, this site has maybe a dozen comics. I just read through all of them in 5 minutes. And sadly, they reused the oldest video game joke ever. Link smashing people's property for rupees. I want to like this site more than I do... But come on...

I really wish people would stop giving him shit for not updating. I've actually met Scott (he's a really, really nice dude!) and had the opportunity to talk to him about his comics.

VG Cats is basically done; he's almost out of ideas for story arcs and he doesn't want to just churn out a cat-themed version of Penny Arcade. Super Effective could have gone for a while, but it's still just the story of Pokemon, and everyone knows how that ends. He does have some ideas for future comics, but nothing concrete yet.
