Honestly sometimes tests/quizzes aren't worth the time to study for so you come to terms with it. As a mechanical engineering student you need to prioritize and sometimes that means not studying for a test of not doing an assignment.

You don't have to be an ace in engineering to realize that working hard toward something is better than blowing it off with an "I don't give a fuck" attitude.

Noone will improve a skill without stepping out of a comfort zone; a tough teacher should make you strive to better yourself even more than a pushover teacher would.

Who said he blew it off? I've studied for hours on some college tests and as soon as I sat down and saw it, I knew I would still fail. Was I surprised? No cause it was fucking hard. Thus, I didn't give a fuck afterwards cause I did my best. Grow up and stop judging people.

Yes, college tests that were designed to push you and find your limits. A highschool test is not nearly on that level, and I would argue that what you need to learn for a highschool math test is not really worthy of the "well, maybe it's just fucking hard" label.

I actually didn't believe in this until I had my math teacher last quarter, no matter how hard I tried to study, her test questions are significantly more difficult to understand than other math teachers', and 90% of her tests had trick questions. Some teachers are just BAD teachers.

I think that this is a totally different situation and the extreme comparison is inappropriate. Having a breakdown over an exam and being mature enough to understand that it doesn't determine who you are as a person or denote your worth are your only two options, and the former is vastly unhealthy and very small-picture.
