  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

The slices are at different levels. Because of the differences in size, it would be near impossible to get "identical" level slices.

If I had to guess, I'd say the fat person's slice are more towards the front than the skinny person's slice because you can see the cervical spine in the skinny (which is more towards the back of the body) and you can see part of the fat person's clavicle (which is towards the front of the body).

So basically with the tibia (shin bone), you're only seeing the beginning slice of the fat person, and you're seeing a middle slice of the tibia for the skinny person.

The fat in their thighs doesn't allow for their calves to come closer together as does the skinnier person. As for the ankles... I'm not sure. Maybe they are pidgeon toed? I have had that issue apparently since I was little.

They may have flat feet--that is, no arch. That could make the ankles turn that way.

That could be a possibility also, although I couldn't fully agree just because I have never seen someone with flat feet before - or, at least payed attention.

It's gas/feces in the colon. That kinda triangular one in the fat person under the heart is the stomach.

The little dark blobs are poop. I got an MRI recently and as I was scrolling through the images, for a minute or two, I was convinced I had dozens of tiny tumora in my abdomen. Poop. Lots of poop. The fat person has more of it.

I know that an x-ray will show dark areas when there are pockets of air (like in your lungs). I don't know if it's relevant to these scans, but that would be my guess.

yeah, I was thinking as much, but it would be a better comparison if they were scanning the same level above the table in both instances.. and I guess they were so fat that somehow their eyes were on the same plane as the femur>hip and fibula>shoulder sockets.. that's an amazing amount of backfat to put those level with what appears to be the middle of the eyes.

I can't judge too harshly, I would probably almost match the skinny example until you add 40-50lbs of beer belly (without enough ass to hold my pants up even with a belt :/

IANAD, so unable to give a very qualified answer, but since brain tissue is pretty fat, it's not so surprising.

White matter tissue of the freshly cut brain appears pinkish white to the naked eye because myelin is composed largely of lipid tissue veined with capillaries

They do, particularly in the knees. But I also noticed that even if you removed all the fat from the fat person, they would still have a larger body. The innards seem huge.

I believe that's visceral fat (fat of the organs). It makes the organs large and, as far as I know, is the most dangerous and deadly aspect of weight gain.

i dont think they are scans. look like cryo-slices to me. they freeze a body then shave a layer off then take a photo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visible_Human_Project
