CapitalistOverlord only joins us from his work terminal.
I enjoyed your use of the word "terminal." I don't know why.

I feel incredibly bad for that person. A horse can be a dangerous animal, and to have everyone just standing around laughing must have been a nightmare.
[–]jaki_cold 5 points6 points7 points 4 months ago
Yeah, almost like being arrested. No sympathy for pigs.
[–]killthemachines 2 points3 points4 points 4 months ago

I just don't understand. Why do people tag that police officer as a pig? Why do people hate the policemen so much? Policemen are nothing but slaves of their superiors. They sheepishly follow their orders without thinking the ethical parts of their actions. The real guilty (and the real pig) here is the government who gives the orders to harm their brethen (which they blindly follow) and if there's someone to blame; it's the slavemaster, not the slave.
[–]FearlessBuffalo 8 points9 points10 points 4 months ago
FUCK SHEEP
(I do wonder why pig and sheep are used as insults. They're wonderful creatures really. Pigs are pretty smart. Sheep are soft and funny.)
[–]CyberDiablo 7 points8 points9 points 4 months ago*
It's because of George Orwell's book Animal Farm where;
The sheep are the proletariat, they are foolish (because they are uneducated) and they will go wherever you herd them.
The dogs are the police, they aren't very smart either but they are overpowered and are extremely loyal to their owners.
The pigs are the government and business men, they are smart but greedy and selfish. They abuse others' ignorance.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago
It been a while since I read it, but...
I remember two horses, the work horse and the horse with the bow. The bow horse was the bourgeoisie and the old work worse was the proletariat. The sheep were just sheep, in the literal and metaphoric sense.
[–]GhostOfTheRobot 7 points8 points9 points 4 months ago
I used to think like that as well, so I understand where that mindset comes from but you do have to recognize that they are not born policemen, they become policemen by actively trying to become policemen. Don't make excuses, though they are not the ones in charge, they are the soldiers of the ones in charge and they won't hesitate to hurt you or anybody else. Also, please watch this movie.
[–]elemenohpee -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 months ago
What if there is a set of genes that make it more likely for one to become a police officer? What if certain early childhood experiences put this person on a path to doing that? Did you choose your genes, upbringing, environment, etc? We can hate their actions, their mindset, etc., but to hate the actual person instead of feeling compassion makes the mistake of assuming any of us in any real sense chose our own destiny.
[–]GhostOfTheRobot 2 points3 points4 points 4 months ago
Well, I believe that we all have free will so that's where we disagree.
And if youre going to see it that way, then might as well not hate anybody and accept that people that enslave people have just been raised to want money really badly and it's not their fault.
[–]elemenohpee -1 points0 points1 point 4 months ago
Free from what? Your genes? Your neural structure that was shaped in childhood?
You don't have to accept anything, you can and should criticize it and work to change it. But that desire to lay blame somewhere should not blind us to the scientific realities.
[–]IceblinkLuck -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 months ago
There are millions of police officers around the globe each with their own individual story as to how they joined the force. Each one has their own set of beliefs, religion and up-bringing. I'm not having a go at you, but you, like anyone else who isn't a total genius, probably couldn't properly understand more than about ten cases. What makes you think anyone would give you credit when you tell them why police officers become police officers?
"So tell me, why is it you decided to kidnap people and put them in cages? Your answer may excuse you entirely from responsibility for your actions."
NOPE.
[–]IceblinkLuck -2 points-1 points0 points 4 months ago
"Your answer may excuse you entirely from responsibility for your actions"
When did I say people are excused entirely from the responsibility of their actions? Or anything even close to that? I think you probably misunderstood. The person I was responding too was claiming to have insight into why police officers become police officers (and included "they are the soldiers of the ones in charge and they won't hesitate to hurt you or anybody else.". This is true of all police officers, is it?) and I was pointing out how absurd a claim that was. If you actually want to talk about the issue, talk about what I actually said, but considering your just spouting off r/anarchism buzzphrases like "excuse you entirely from all responsibility" completely out of context and, assumably, just because you want to say them I take it you don't want to talk about that issue.
[–]jaki_cold 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago
I don't think you understand. The police force is not your friend.
For example, they come into my place of work. They leave wanted posters with us that they have us read, detailing stories of one-legged pregnant women being attacked by men with guns and robbed (literally a true story). They come in and search the store and question my fellow employees about whether they "saw a guy running through here". These are lies. They are trying to keep us afraid, keep us thinking that we need them to protect us, that we have to obey them to be safe.
Don't. Trust. The. Police.
[–]IceblinkLuck 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago
What about my post insinuated that I was telling you the police were your friend? Please answer this.
For example, they come into my place of work. This is, first of all, irrelevant of course, unless you can show that I was trying to tell people that the police are their friend, but I mean, if you are just going to give one story as an example to justify what you are saying, why not Rodney King?
Again though, you misunderstood what I wrote, unless you can demonstrate otherwise.
[–]bl4ckb4dg3r5 2 points3 points4 points 4 months ago
You say the police have no agency? That's preposterous.
[–]laduke13 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago
I try no to hate policemen, but The Police (department) can go get fucked (by a horse?)
[–]kraxor 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago
Policemen made a choice of "being slaves of their superiors". Is there such a thing as a voluntary slave? No, not really.
[–]CyberDiablo 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago
Is there such a thing as a voluntary slave?
All officers and bureaucrats are voluntary slaves of the government. (Keep in mind that some are rich slaves while others are obliged to do repeated tasks to survive.)
