Well, SOTN was the flagship title on which all subsequent Castlevaniae have been based... He's certainly more important than like, Richter and he made his debut on the NES (C3 Dracula's Curse).

Sorry but Alucard and Soma put every Belmont to shame. Also, for the sake of having a character representing Castlevania, Alucard is pretty much interchangeable. Like I said, SOTN is easily the most popular CV.

The Belmonts represent the level-based platformer style of Castlevania. Only when the Dhampir/reincarnates started showing up did the series hit its magnum opus.

Belmonts are useless anyway; SotN proved that even if a Belmont fails, Adrian T will just come take care of everything.

Alucard/Adrian/Arikado is easily the most popular character in the franchise for a reason.

After explaining the above Judas bit, artist jokingly says that's why Cloud was going to be the only character who hadn't appeared on a Nintendo console, but then he put in the char from monster hunter tri (he calls it "a-i-ru" but the name in JP/ENG are maybe different?) so he messed that up hahah.

Denam is from Tactics Ogre and Ogre Battle, which were both originally SNES titles.

Regarding both of the above characters, in the comments below his original post, the artist says he'd thought about replacing Denam and "Felyne" with characters like Solid Snake, because he wanted overseas people to be able to enjoy the picture too.

Ostensibly the artist thought we might not recognize those characters.

Ha, I totally forgot that Tactics Ogre was on the SNES in Japan. And I didn't play Ogre Battle so I didn't know Denam was in that.

(Also, thanks to Kingdom Hearts, Cloud has appeared on an Nintendo console.)

The blocks are different colors and in Tetris shapes, with each shape having consistant colors (ie the "T" shapes, which appear twice in the ceiling, are both purple). Its just waiting for the long one to come down the center and knock out 4 rows. Obviously Tetris.
