I'm very moral. I just have a different moral code to you.

Read "immortal".

Was very confused.

You are not alone, young Padawan.

If that was the question, his answer should have been "WHO WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANTS TO LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE FOREVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!"

[–]skratakh 2 points3 points ago

how about "are you?"

[–]Demoknight111 1 point2 points ago

Ooh, is this some gameplay from the recent release Star Was for Kinect?

Just kidding.

what's this from?

One word response, then leave. Doesn't matter what you say, yes, no, or taco, if they have nobody to proselytize to, they will have to suffer their own impotent righteous indignation.

I can see it now...

Knock knock

Mormons: Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your lord and saviour?

Me: Taco.

Religion has hijacked morality. The vast majority of religious people have the same sort of morality as most atheists do. (rape, stealing, killing is wrong, etc.) Naturally, morality is supposed to led to a relatively happy population that is able to survive.

Many religions seem to think that morality is saying sorry to a magical man. This leads to people doing morally terrible things, in the name of "morality", or what they parade as such. :/

Or they think morality is just one set of ethical codes, ignoring all the rest:

Obedience, chastity (this is key), not drinking, not swearing, being a 'good', god-fearing boy or girl, etc.

Naturally, morality is supposed to led to a relatively happy population that is able to survive.

If you're trying to say that morals are instinctive then you are making a claim of moral objectiveness, which is sort of counter intuitive for someone who isn't religious.

Unless you're referring to the argument Sam Harris made [as have others] in his book "the moral landscape" which is, quite frankly, a horseshit argument as well.

[–]viiScorp 1 point2 points ago

I was speaking in evolutionary terms.

Sam's Argument makes sense unless you manage to come up with something you can value more than well-being. (religion doesn't count for obvious reason (false))

[–]nnotserPx 1 point2 points ago

All Harris did was [rather poorly] make a few points that were just consequentialist and/or utilitarian.

Two philosophical perspectives I highly doubt you [and most atheists] would align with were it coming from someone who argues it much better. I feel that people who are inexperienced with philosophy in general are quick to hop on because they are familiar with the name.

Why on earth would anyone ask you if you were ok with being immoral?? Either this is another of those 'funny' made up events for the sake of karma or you were dealing with a tard.

[–]TheEvilScotsman -1 points0 points ago

It's amazing you just happened to have this gif to hand! Makes sense enough, I carry a poem I wrote called "The Fucks I Give".

[–]LocalMadman -1 points0 points ago

So you're a Republican?

[–]Colemanimation 0 points1 point ago

It's okay, I got your joke
