Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), weight loss photos, posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. Weight loss photos go in /r/loseit, DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

The liquid is tea, not coffee. This sculpture is part of an exhibition called "From Clay to Teapot: Tea Ware by Hong Kong Potters 1986 – 2010," currently on display in the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware in Hong Kong.

ceramic/sculpture major here.

That's a VERY well-made piece. By that, I mean difficult to sculpt, fire, and glaze without having it break.

my guess is that the cups are epoxied to the "coffee" as a last step, since they would weigh too much to fire in that position.

And in case anyone was wondering how it was made to look like liquid... it's because it was carved and sculpted that way. No other way to do it.

There would be no way to make a replica of this. making a plaster mold would require... uncountable pieces, because of the complex geometry of the splashes.

replicas of pottery and simple sculptures with low relief are easy... this is not.

It's the price people must pay for original hand-made artwork.

Hey OP, you should check out this website called Karma Decay when you are about to submit something. It's a pretty useful reverse image search for reddit that will help you determine if what you are posting has been submitted several times in the past. It can also help prevent people screaming "REPOST!" at you.

Hey enigmatticus you should check out the reddiquette guide specifically the part about:

Complain about a story being old. Reddit is about interesting stuff, not new stuff only. Just hide the story.

Complain when a duplicate story finds more success than the original. Posting a link to the original is okay, since earlier comments may be of interest.

Yeah but its still a complaint about reposts despite what language you used. Who cares anyway about the amount of karma it receives anyway as they are just fake internet points. Not everyone has been a redditor for a very long time and no one looks months/years back in time for every picture. Its very easy for us old timers to just hide the post or even just downvote and move on. Many other people are seeing it for the first time and its a pretty cool sculpture, I've seen it in real life.
