That's really the best part about being an adult. Snack time is anytime I want it to be.

Sometimes I'll go on my nieces' facebook walls and write, "It's midnight on a Wednesday and I'm eating ice cream. How's that 9 p.m. bedtime working out for you?"

Sure, they're asleep when I post it, but then it's the first thing they see when they wake up in the morning.

Edit: No I just remembered! There was a thread of people yelling insults comprable to whore, I commented like "Harlot!" or something and then the next person commented "John!" and I didn't realize that was a word for a brothel owner so I freaked out.

Is your problem with people of a younger age, or the less mature postings of some of the younger Reddit population? I'm sure that some of your favorite posts have been posted by teens, and some of the annoying "teen-like" posts were by adults.

My problem is that as the demographic shifts to teenagers, the discussion on this site - which used to be the main drawcard - devolves into trite and unoriginal back-and-forths. Salient, unpopular positions are downvoted and the most inane bullshit is upvoted. TIL is full of basic facts that anyone with a modicum of education should already be aware of. Conversation is replaced by reaction gifs and pun threads that have all been played out a hundred times.

In short it's the general level of quality going downhill fast. This site gets worse every day. It's not about maturity as such, it's more about a general lack of standards. You can't even flame properly these days, no-one recognises outstanding verbiage if they can just jump on the hate train and downvote something instead.

This site sucks more every day, and there's nowhere else to go, as there usually has been over the last 15 years, when good things turn to shit because the lowest common denominator finds them and destroys them with their mindless exuberance. No common denominator is lower than the standard American teenager - poorly educated, interested in the most shallow of culture and arrogant to the point of total and permanent ignorance. It's sad.

Your main focus, at least in this thread, is to say that teens are the cause for Reddit to be crappy, am I right? I agree, many teens are illogical, repetitive, and uneducated. On the other hand, lumping the whole group together and labeling them as such isn't much better. Remember, you were once a teen yourself. What do stupid, arrogant teens grow up into? They grow into stupid arrogant adults. As a person who has been in college since I was 15 and been working my butt off to be a good and logical person, I know the effects of ageism. Try having professors who ignore you, even though you know more about the subject than most of the adults taking the same class. Try being the one person in the room who is respectful, when your peers are acting like children. Not all of us teens are arrogant and stupid as you say. Teens may be stupid, but adults are guilty of the same thing.

I would say most people on reddit are not college age but instead are college age and below. The thing is that most college age people still live with their parents in one capacity or another and those of us that don't are just gonna have to deal with that. Such is the state of American education and the job market.

PS: I know redditors are from all over the world but the majority are American so suck it up.
