man, I'm in the UK and coasted all my life but ended up with jobs (not my scientist field but still jobs, recently in a scientific role). I just harrased companies till they gave me one. How come it's been 2 years without ANY job? have you tried voluntry work?

Not beng judgemental but I consider myself boader line unemployable yet very lucky so I get jobs. so just want to know what your situation is.

started 2 businesses, one the bank killed due to withdrawing the businesses overdraft facility and replacing it with a loan that if i drew against i was so heavily penalised that it made it unecomical to continue. retail whether online or on the high street is a fucking bitch for cashflow. Second businesses consultancy died a death when 2 of my clients went bankrupt(not thru my advice realised they were fucked soon as i started working with them). studied prince2 lot of other stuff as well, starting my third business. Still applying for jobs.

I was unemployed two years. Once I gave up looking for a job I loved it! When the unemployment insurance ran out I applied for every business in a 1 mile radius, even if they weren't hiring. It was a stupid waste of time.

Once I expanded my search to "everywhere" I had a job offer in about a month. I was lucky it was only 100 miles away. I lived out of hotels during the week and was home on the weekends. This was stressful though and ultimately was a contributing factor to the end of my 2 year relationship with a woman I had hoped to marry.

There are challenges but it is possible to get a job.

"Pyrrhic victory" is a better term for that. Sorry for your loss.
