I want this to be true, therefore it is.

[–]ahaich 683 points684 points ago

At least you're not in de-nye-al

[–]mtdewmarketingrep 287 points288 points ago

7/10, would smile weakly again.

No matter how often i sing this, still no one gets it

[–]thechaserx 7 points8 points ago

Shit eatin' grin.

[–]kessel_run 19 points20 points ago

7/10 seems like a pretty high score for just a weak smile.

[–]slumsquirrel 28 points29 points ago

His 10 is probably a slow chuckle

[–]ContentKeanu 38 points39 points ago

We all know that no redditor actually laughs out loud but rather breaks into a series of nostril blow chuckles.

[–]NiltiacSif 22 points23 points ago

This made me nostril blow chuckle.

[–]me_at_work 15 points16 points ago

this not only made me nostril blow chuckle, but taught me that "nostril blow chuckle" is a thing i do all the time.

[–]AStabToTheEye 3 points4 points ago

this also made me nostril blow chuckle...which caused me to blow hot coffee through my noseholes. that sort of sucked.

You're not that judge who allows stuff, are you?

[–]ReplyJudge 142 points143 points ago

No, but I am. I'll allow it.

I miss Good Eats.

[–]sqwarlock 11 points12 points ago

Wait...wait. Are you saying that Alton Brown is an asshole to his fans? That's incredibly disappointing if true.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]kminator 22 points23 points ago

The fanifesto article is really interesting and reasonable.

[–]Pachuho 9 points10 points ago

Please don’t talk to me in a public restroom. Odds are good I’m there for a specific reason and I need to concentrate on what I’m doing.

While I agree, this made me lol so hard.

Actually had to stop and breathe...

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points ago

Hey, at least Alton Brown laid those rules out. Almost like a......recipe for a good fan experience? Amirite? Guys?

[–]infinite 4 points5 points ago

I don't blame them for becoming jaded. I once lived in a wealthy town full of celebrities and I would make it a case to ignore them, out of respect. However, that didn't stop the hordes of people, some who were locals even, from fawning over said celebrities when they merely wanted to enjoy time in town with their families. I remember when one of them entered a diner, every single 40 year old woman in that place went berzerk, even my ex-wife. That is annoying. There's something to be said for self-control. So with all these people like the girl mentioned by the OP, my ex-wife, I can see where celebs are coming from.

[–]Hiphoppington 2 points3 points ago

Alton spoke plainly there and I respect that. It wasn't offensive and it was reasonable.

[–]NicotineReed 9 points10 points ago

When I was in 6th grade I got to go to the Food Network convention near Cleveland and upon doing so I had the chance to meet Alton Brown and get his autograph. He seemed like a really nice guy and even drew a mustache and horns on the picture I wanted him to sign because he said he didn't like it. So, at least my Alton experience was charming.

[–]Jesburger 3 points4 points ago

He was kind of an ass at a speech in Iowa once, but that's all of it I think.

[–]Zebadiahz 3 points4 points ago

Well, I had a short meeting with him recently over a public outreach program. I thought he was clearly intelligent, with an incredible passion for reaching kids. He was very humble about his fame, claiming he's "just a guy". His sense of humor is quirky, yet very entertaining.

[–]SarahBJones 6 points7 points ago

My dad worked in children's television...met him a few times in meetings...he was an a-hole and wouldn't even sign a picture for me when I was a kiddo. He's a meanie who hates kids.

[–]dmsheldon87 30 points31 points ago

children want to bask in his glory

SAP Bill Nye

runs the fuck into an elevator

[–]grammar_connoisseur 13 points14 points ago

Someone's sapping mah Nye!

[–]JBHUTT09 57 points58 points ago

I met Bill Nye this fall at Cornell. He was very nice to me. Then again I wasn't drooling all over him. I walked up to him and said "Mr. Nye?" He turned around and said "Yes" so I shook his hand and said "I want to thank you for sparking my interest in science as a kid. Your show had a major impact on who I am today. Thank you." He smiled and thanked me and I walked away. One of the happiest moments of my life.

[–]Marmaladez 40 points41 points ago

It probably helped that you were respectful and not drooling.

[–]Dustinm16 10 points11 points ago

You ever wash that hand?

[–]JBHUTT09 8 points9 points ago

Yes.

[–]gilbertsmith 7 points8 points ago

I don't think rubbing it all over your body counts as washing, you need to add soap and water.

[–]verdatum 14 points15 points ago

Thanks for the link. Relevant quote from it: "Occasionally he'll have a good day, but it's usually when he's at a place he respects, like a University, but when he goes out for coffee or what have you, he looks at the employees as beneath him."

Sounds like a case of "a place he respects"

[–]cyberslick188 24 points25 points ago

I know it's just another in a long line of anecdotes, but Bill Nye did a presentation thing at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) 2 or 3 years ago while one of my roommates was still a student there.

My roommate also worked in the catering services, and after the presentation Bill Nye had a dinner with our school president and other "dignitaries", and my friend did the personal catering for them, and apparently Bill Nye was always rude with the servers, and even suggested out loud that our president should fire them and hire high school dropouts because they'd do a better job, and probably need it more.

[–]slumsquirrel 13 points14 points ago

Has anyone tried tried talking back to him? I mean, I guess in a professional setting you have to keep your mouth shut but if you approach him on the street and he's a dick then just be a dick back. Sounds like a guy who enjoys some banter, or maybe I'm just holding on to the last childhood hero i have left.

[–]J_Pinehurst 5 points6 points ago

NO, BILL NYE. FUCK YOUUUU.

[–]holdinicedteas 5 points6 points ago

I met him and he was very nice- talked to us for quite awhile about his "new" show (in 2008) http://imgur.com/3ZfOg

[–]Patmick 5 points6 points ago

Bill is probably as much an ass hole as Neil Degrasse Tyson or Michio Kaku. All three of them are pissed because we're not advancing the frontier of space.

And you know what.. I'm pissed too!

[–]Zebadiahz 1 point2 points ago

He definitely seemed to have a low opinion of his fans, but I didn't think he dislikes them.

[–]hxcn00b666 1 point2 points ago

Bill Nye came to my camp one time to make a cloud in a bottle. The second he was done with the show he basically ran to his stretch limo and got the fuck out. I was sad because I didn't get to say hi and would have preferred not to see him at all since he acted like that.

[–]empw 3 points4 points ago

I like your logic.

[–]Eat_Your_Whitman 1 point2 points ago

"There shall be love between the poet and the man of demonstrable science. In the beauty of poems are the tuft and final applause of science."

[–]jackie_treehorn 456 points457 points ago

Bill Nye is currently in my office filming for his new DVD. He is actually here quite regularly.

[–]logicalnoise 415 points416 points ago

Hello fellow NBK UL worker. YOU SHOULD BE WORKING!

[–]jackie_treehorn 320 points321 points ago

Wow...small world. And in 7 minutes you found me. YOU SHOULD ALSO BE WORKING. I won't tell if you don't. :)

[–]DrDragun 315 points316 points ago

I, however, don't work at NBK UL and you two bastards better upvote everything in my history unless you're the ones who answer the Contact Us email.

[–][deleted] 85 points86 points ago

You sir get some kind of award for coercing celebrity henchmen into doing your bidding. Personally I would have asked for some coke and whores but if karma means that much to you... I am now voting up your history.

[–]DrDragun 40 points41 points ago

GOOD... then our business is concluded. Plus a man can only needs so much coke and whores.

[–]DELTATKG 34 points35 points ago

You can never have too much coke and whores.

[–]ToffeeDave 15 points16 points ago

tell that to Whitney Houston

[–]MuttonTheChops 4 points5 points ago

I prefer cherry or vanilla coke over the original. The added flavor ADDS SO MUCH FLAVOR. Man good to see so many Coca-Cola fans on Reddit!

[–]Gredelston 39 points40 points ago

I smell some RES tags with an actual purpose.

[–]Metacurious 11 points12 points ago

Don't be silly! Nobody uses RES tags for anything but jokes.

[–]play3393 2 points3 points ago

Too bad upvotes / downvotes don't count if you do it from the user's profile page.

[–]logicalnoise 2 points3 points ago

Of course I meant it in jest. Good to know smart reddit users are amongst us here.

[–]sgtsaughter 19 points20 points ago

What is NBK UL?

[–]beefybear 18 points19 points ago

Ha, that feel when you realize that whenever you're on reddit at work, someone else will know.

[–]KJTP 31 points32 points ago

GET HIM TO DO AN IAMA :D

[–]ipokemonkeys 32 points33 points ago

I definitely - for a second - thought this said "GET HIM TO DO ANAL" and I found that I was profoundly scandalized by this suggestion.

[–]ArecBardwin 38 points39 points ago

Bill Nye is filming a DVD at Jackie Treehorn's office? I don't think that's a movie I want to see.

[–]Bennessy 4 points5 points ago*

Yeah, yeah, oh yeah, what condition my condition was in.

[–]q00u 3 points4 points ago

I dunno, if he throws his hands out and screams SCIENCE! at the right time, I... might watch that.

[–]P4ngurB4n 25 points26 points ago

Okay, it's time to debunk this myth! Is he a nice guy or not?

[–]reddownthere 1 point2 points ago

You treat objects like women...man.

[–]reddell 1 point2 points ago

Ask him if this story is true.

[–]KennyLovesYou 165 points166 points ago

My uncle described an eerily similar encounter with Bill Nye: This uncle lives in Seattle and ran into him while they were both jogging on a trail. My uncle stops and says, "BILL NYE! You rock! Bill! Bill! Bill! Bill! Bill!" Bill Nye responds with a giddy smile "Sci! Sci! Sci! Sci! SCIENCE!" as he ran off in the opposite direction.

[–]seattleque 65 points66 points ago*

But that was a perfect time for your uncle to reference Speed Walker!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6-SJLlneLc

[Edit: This is from "Almost Live!", a locally produced SNL knock-off that was usually a lot more funny. Helped launch Bill Nye's career; Joel McHale got his start there as well.]

[–]JimmahTD 13 points14 points ago

Heel, toe, heel, toe.

[–]jamesnealallstar 7 points8 points ago

Came for the Speed walker reference. Was not disappointed.

[–]pimpdawg2010 21 points22 points ago

What. The. Actual. Fuck?

[–]seattleque 12 points13 points ago

Check out "Almost Live!" for more Bill Nye awesomeness.

[–]BoredRec 4 points5 points ago

Upvoting because this was the thing I looked forward to most on Saturday nights growing up.

[–]Krustoff 1 point2 points ago

[–]cdollas250 9 points10 points ago

Youtube comment summed it up perfectly : WHAT IS THIS WITCHCRAFT?

[–]Lupicia 6 points7 points ago

BEHOLD, SCIENCE!

Speech perception allows your brain to effectively "back-translate" to an intended word when given context. If you think about it, it's really cool that our brains are smart enough to hear the same word from many different sources, even though people have different pitched voices, people have accents, there might be background noise, and a lot of word parts can sound similar.

B, P, and M are bilabial consonants, you put both lips together to make the sound. The difference is that B is voiced, P is voiceless, and M is nasal... but the distinction isn't really strong on this recording.

The middle AI sound in "mayo" and "pail" is a diphthong, but said quickly (and in some dialects), can sound like one short "i" sound. Your brain is backwards-generating the vowels.

The final L sound in in "bill" and "pail", when said fast, is made without touching your tongue anywhere (this is called a "dark l"). It can sound like a vowel O.

Basically, the pictures give your brain just enough context for an INTENDED word. The backwards-translating speech perception in your mind does the rest.

Also see the McGurk effect for similar trickery.

[–]MythOfLight 5 points6 points ago

[–]ajgator7 1 point2 points ago

It melts my brain every fucking time.

[–]andyfrank 52 points53 points ago

in high school we would spam messages to the noisy printers in other classrooms in the middle of class. one day i printed 49 pages with the word BILL right in the center of the page to one of the science labs and the 50th said SCIENCE RULES

[–]Sharrakor 24 points25 points ago

Wow. That sounds incredibly wasteful.

[–]andyfrank 10 points11 points ago

oh it was. the best part was how we would print from a computer logged in as the admin, so they could only narrow it down to the room it was printed from. watching a teacher show up with the stack of papers was priceless.

[–]sprklmotion 1 point2 points ago

My friends and I have created a rule at parties where when this theme song comes on (and someone always puts it on the party mix) we have to chug whatever we're drinking between shouts of 'science rules!' Surprisingly, this is an excellent drinking song!

[–]those_draculas 114 points115 points ago*

At Cornell 3 years(maybe 4 now?) Bill Nye was invited to speak. They put him up in the dorm my friend lived in. That night when my friend was coming back to his dorm around 3 in the morning, he was accosted by a seemingly drunk bill nye who was doing yoga in the common room. He presented an inchorrent rant about congress to my friend for 20 minutes before my friend was able to break off the conversation. The surreality of the situation I cannot even percieve

I don't really care if you believe me or not, but I feel I must share this anecdote.

[–]Anal_Justice_League 23 points24 points ago

Who gives a shit how mean he was. I would create a false identity for myself, pay a shit ton to get into Cornell and pay someone off to live in their dorm to get accosted by a drunk Bill Nye.

[–]those_draculas 13 points14 points ago

I know!!! I don't think my friend was mad, he called me a few days later, starting with the line "there's no way you're going to believe this but guess how cool my weekend was!?"

[–]CUNTALOO_VAN_FUCK 6 points7 points ago

Pay me 500 bucks and you can sleep on my dorm's floor for the rest of the semester. Bill Nye comes here all the time, he was at Cornell earlier this year too, and sometimes he guest lectures. He graduated from Cornell so he spends a lot of time here.

[–]elmertlee 3 points4 points ago

I believe it! My anecdote is below (elmertlee) when I held a trash can for a hungover Bill Nye to throw up in. Also, a very true story.

[–]slotcarderby 58 points59 points ago

I remember at a science convention several years ago I was really tired but we didn't have a room so I crawled under this table to go to sleep. From what I heard later Bill came out of this room with a gaggle of fans and sits at the very same table to start signing autographs. When he stuck his feet under the table he kicked me hard in the side and woke me up. I guess he realized someone was under there but when I tried to crawl out he casually stuck his hand under the table and in motions that to this day confound me at their clarity in sign he told me to lay back down and continue my nap. Something in my mind told me I should listen to this friendly stranger and to my surprise he removed his boots and began to give me a back massage to rival all back massages with his very skilled feet. I slept for god knows how long and I woke up feeling more rested and alive than ever before. When it was all over I dropped a fiver in his boot and he disappeared into the crowd. I'll never forget his kindness.

[–]Sgore 33 points34 points ago

I don't even care if this is true, I choose to believe we live in a world where such things can happen.

[–]i_am_mango 8 points9 points ago

This doesn't worry me at all. I've heard and believed stranger things about Bill Murray.

[–]amazinnn 6 points7 points ago

My mind tells me not to believe this story, but my heart tells me to keep trying. So try I will.

[–]VogeGandire 3 points4 points ago

This happened. I refuse to even believe the possibility that it didn't.

I want a Bill Nye foot back massage.

[–]firstcity_thirdcoast 16 points17 points ago

In 2007 I lived right behind the John Hancock building in Chicago. I went outside to walk to the store one afternoon, and who do I see walking by the Hancock? Bill Motherfucking Nye strolling arm-in-arm with a scorching blonde beauty who wasn't any older than me.

I threw him a thumbs up but he was, understandably, paying his attention elsewhere.

Science rules.

[–]eldy_ 15 points16 points ago

At first, I read that as Bill Nye telling a story about his sister.

[–]jeffarei 26 points27 points ago

that's how i would handle dealing with my (hypothetical) fans, without having to personally interact with them... and still have them think i'm awesome, if not twice as awesome as they had originally thought.

[–]jwestbury 3 points4 points ago

Bruce Campbell's MO is, when someone says to him, "You're Bruce Campbell," to respond, "Someone's gotta be." He then immediately walks away.

[–]popsiclestand 9 points10 points ago

I agree you would be cool and still gtfo. maybe through down a flashbang first blind them bitches then scream out SCIENCE RULES

[–]Cualax23 13 points14 points ago

Bill lives around the corner from me in Arlington, VA and I see him every now and then at the local garden bar. I always want to ask him if we can make a paper mache volcano together because you know that thing would be awesome!

[–]Mitchellonfire 22 points23 points ago

I now have a new method of elevator entry.

[–]holdinicedteas 10 points11 points ago

I met Bill Nye at a swing dance club in New York... He is a professional, apparently. His bow tie had planets on it: http://imgur.com/3ZfOg

Can you just disprove it?

[–]RugerRedhawk 6 points7 points ago

I was always more of a Mr. Wizard guy myself.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points ago

"No one's ever going to believe you."

Bill Nye is not the only Bill who delivers.

[–]AKneelingOx 12 points13 points ago

i really wish i'd grown up with bill nye.

you fuckers all still seem to love the balls off him, and he seems to deserve it.

[–]auntie_eggma 2 points3 points ago

Same. In my day we had Mr. Wizard, though. He was cool, too.

[–]OhMyWhatIsThat 5 points6 points ago

Sort of on topic: but he will be coming to my University in May, and there will more than likely be a Q&A at the end, I NEED to ask him something, but have no ideas. Anyone got a good question for him/something they'd like answered?

[–]elmertlee 8 points9 points ago

My Bill Nye story can top that!

I worked at a coffee shop in a shopping mall in Indiana. Bill Nye was having a special brunch at our coffee shop before he did a live show in the mall. As the brunch progressed Bill Nye starting to feel a little unwell, which lead to me helping him to our back room where we had a couch. I went and got him Gatorade. Then on my return held the trash can Bill Nye spewed into! I am still uncertain if it was food poisoning (what his PR people said) or morning still too drunk hang over!

[–]nkmetcalfe 15 points16 points ago

Its true that its a story.

[–]gmale9000 4 points5 points ago

BILL! BILL! BILL! BILL! BILL! BILL! BILL! BILL!

[–][deleted] 50 points51 points ago

sigh

The end of my childhood was finding out that Bill Nye is an asshole. okayface

[–]Cualax23 46 points47 points ago

Actually not a bad dude. I've talked with him about baseball and other things. My childhood ended a little bit when I found out he hated my favorite team (Phillies).

[–]crownstreet 29 points30 points ago

That's it, I'm done with him. Fuck science!

[–]Cualax23 15 points16 points ago

He hates the Yankees too...

[–]crownstreet 15 points16 points ago

Well, that makes it slightly more palatable I guess... Who's his team?

[–]Cualax23 15 points16 points ago

I assume he's a Nats fan but he was kind of mum on the topic. Which probably confirms he's a Nats fan.

[–]JMaboard 3 points4 points ago

[–]ndw10325 2 points3 points ago

He's from Seattle, I'd guess the Mariners?

[–]YGBSM 3 points4 points ago

Who doesn't.

[–]croman653 17 points18 points ago

He's actually not at all, he's awesome.

He gave a lecture at my school, but due to exhaustion couldn't stick around for the Q and A session that was supposed to happen after. He made sure to come back a few weeks later just to do the Q and A session, and friends who went said he was cool.

[–]eatmyshorts5 14 points15 points ago

Uh just curious, but why is Bill now an asshole?

[–]Scurry 10 points11 points ago

Because some people on the Internet said he was.

And we all know Internet stories are never false, and the entire character of a person can be defined by one chance encounter.

[–]DrSmoke 56 points57 points ago

Even if its true, I don't care, I'm an asshole. What I do know, is that Bill Nye did a guest spot on Stargate Atlantis, with Neil D. Tyson, and that makes him fucking awesome, no matter how big an asshole he is.

[–]McLargepants 5 points6 points ago

I met him once, and he seemed like a pretty cool dude.

[–]IZ3820 3 points4 points ago

How did you find that out? Did you actually meet him or were you just told that he was? I ask because, when I met him, he seemed really level-headed. He's opinionated, but I've never been given any reason to believe he wasn't nice.

[–]zumpiez 3 points4 points ago

He's actually not, he's just not really good at making smalltalk.

[–]CochMaestro 2 points3 points ago

Out of curiosity...why is he an asshole?

[–]dizzy_lizzy 5 points6 points ago

My older brother met him once at a book signing when he (my brother!) was about 10 years old. Apparently Mr. Nye is not really a very big fan of children...

[–]FartingBob 43 points44 points ago

Most people arent a fan of 10 year olds. Annoying little shits.

[–]velocious 8 points9 points ago

makes sense people from bluegartr are on reddit

[–]Digglesbee 2 points3 points ago

This may be true, but reddit is still active since the "BG" crowd has not driven everyone away with their false sense of entitlement...yet.

[–]Bigbrass[S] 2 points3 points ago

I haven't played FFXI in years. Still visit BG regularly.

[–]Synanon 2 points3 points ago

Spam is now taking credit for this making the front page

[–]Bigbrass[S] 2 points3 points ago

Tell spam they've got Chreman to thank. I'm the guy who kicked off some pretty solid Wabo vs Fortune Unicorn drama back in the day. Good times.

[–]Kraz226 2 points3 points ago

I have no idea what you are currently saying.

[–]travio 3 points4 points ago

I bet he was not actually running, but speed walking.

BlueGartr on Reddit frontpage, wow

[–]Bigbrass[S] 6 points7 points ago

The way the world should be.

[–]born2pwn25 2 points3 points ago

I met Bill Nye once when he was with his family at the Franklin Institute. He was awkward as all hell. Therefore I am replacing said memory with this event. Merci.

SHE'S BLINDED! WITH SCIENCE!

SCIENCE!

[–]Ontopourmama 2 points3 points ago

But were you blinded with science?

[–]Dissonancesc2 2 points3 points ago

Never though I'd see BG on the frontpage.

[–]nefthep 2 points3 points ago

Consider the following...

[–]KyroDCK 1 point2 points ago

i always wanted to visit his lab from the show. everyone looked so happy all the time doing all these kick ass experiments. its just not fair...

[–]earwigy1990 1 point2 points ago

I remember my first beer, bill.

[–]RonaldFuckingPaul 1 point2 points ago

he secretly hates you for being a loser and not fulfilling your potential as he (just another ordinary guy) did

[–]hamsterwheel 1 point2 points ago

science rullleeess

[–]heyitsjazzy 1 point2 points ago

Bill Nye out. Science!

[–]BCouto 1 point2 points ago

I wonder if he had glitter in his hands when he did that.

[–]commodore_kierkepwn 1 point2 points ago

My dad's friend interned at some studio Bill Nye was filming in. Apparently he has the "Woody Harrelson complex." I was sad to hear that.

[–]btnheazy03 1 point2 points ago

That would have been an awkward 5 seconds if the elevator didn't close.

[–]boltup85 1 point2 points ago

I need to thank Bill for the hours of entertainment and learning during my childhood!

[–]depotres 1 point2 points ago

i saw bill nye when my dad took me with him to an environmental conference (i was like 8 so years ago) and he wouldnt even speak to me. he seemed viscerally angry that a child would want to interact with him.

[–]tapeworm53 1 point2 points ago

my mom dated bill nye. he's a douche.

[–]esmooth 1 point2 points ago

Ok everyone loves to circlejerk about Bill Nye whenever he comes up on reddit. Well I'm going to shit on the parade. When I was a young lad my sister and I saw Bill Nye in the airport. We got so excited and went up to him to see if we could get a picture or autograph. He was very cold and simply said "I don't do pictures" and left.

[–]rathum2323 1 point2 points ago

That's one way to avoid pesky fans.

[–]mg440 1 point2 points ago

In Seattle Bill Nye has a reputation for being a bit of an asshole to his fans. Not sure how much truth to it there is, or if he's been jerks to people who deserved it. The only thing I can say definitively, is he has the reputation.

[–]Mr_Shhh 1 point2 points ago

Sadly, I was expecting this post to be about this guy. I have no idea who Bill Nye is.

[–]noIinTeamocil 1 point2 points ago

Top notch actor.

I love him in Shaun of the Dead... AND Hot Fuzz for that matter.

[–]ItchyLemon 1 point2 points ago

Bill Nye, the Science Guy

Bill Nye, the Science Guy

Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill

Bill Nye, the Science Guy

(Science RULES)

Bill Nye, the Science Guy

(Inertia is a property of matter)

Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill

Bill Nye, the Science Guy

Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill

(T-minus seven seconds)

Bill Nye, the Science Guy

This song brings back good memories...

[–]moomooland 1 point2 points ago

confused because i thought we were talking about Bill Nighy

[–]ceri23 1 point2 points ago

GGBill Nye:

Doesn't have time to converse with a fan.

Still makes the fan's day.

[–]Bison14 1 point2 points ago

I am Chelsea, the girl from the story. It is 100% true. Couldn't make this stuff up. Also, I was a junior in high school at the time. I can't believe I pointed and shouted at him, but it was literally a knee-jerk reaction (that he obviously hated). But, I mean, in my defense, you never go on a field trip to the natural history museum and expect Bill Nye the Science guy to walk past you in the dinosaur hall. Just sayin'. He did say hi to my nice calm mother! haha Anyway, thanks people!
