So when I eat powdery, flaky, or crusty food, I use two fingers, bring it toward my mouth, exhale (this is key) then inhale as I bite down. Inhale with gusto, so as to vacuum in any flakes or powder that would otherwise break loose and fall on your pants, or steering wheel, or wherever you are.
