Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

173 people died ;( I lost a friend and his family in this disaster. Still makes me happy to see our ses and fireys out there doing a great job.

[–]HertzaHaeon 79 points80 points ago

This photoshopped version I made back then might cheer you up.

Or it might piss you off, in which case I'd like to apologize in advance.

[–]chongssuck 103 points104 points ago

Aussies (and certainly not koalas) do not drink Fosters. Give 'im a VB ya cunt

[–][deleted] ago*

[deleted]

[–]Squirrellicious 13 points14 points ago

I know how you feel. The most popular Dutch beer abroad is Heineken, while in The Netherlands it's perceived as piss.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]Squirrellicious 3 points4 points ago

Excellent.

[–]4rch 1 point2 points ago

Gotta try Pabts Blue Robot. Great stuff

[–]zumu 2 points3 points ago

I thought the people in North Holland (as in the province) liked Heineken?

[–]Squirrellicious 4 points5 points ago

No.

[–]homeboy5925 1 point2 points ago

American here. Heineken is shit. Pass me that Carlsberg.

[–]bythebeardofchabal 1 point2 points ago

Carlsberg is awful, it's marginally better than Carling and Fosters which are tied for the most piss poor lager here (UK).

Carlsberg Export however, is decent.

edit: typo's.

[–]dessert_racer 0 points1 point ago

too bad carlsberg won't import tuborg to the us...

[–]spankleton 0 points1 point ago

Heineken abroad doesn't taste exactly the same as in Holland. Water quality greatly effects the quality of the beer, so it might taste quite different depending on the brewery and local water.

[–]Squirrellicious 0 points1 point ago

But in The Netherlands we have the highest quality water in the world! Does bad quality water make beer taste better?

This is fascinating,

[–]PurpleSfinx 3 points4 points ago

A mate of mine who works at Woolies liquor

I'm probably not your mate but I do too. We recently stopped even selling stubbies of it because it just doesn't sell. The odd person still comes in every few weeks and buys the large bottles, but they're usually foreigners. It's just an incredibly unpopular beer.

[–]shewhofaps-wins 0 points1 point ago

I've never even seen it on sale in WA, but we seem to drink a lot of boutique and imported beers...

[–]battleshits 2 points3 points ago

Nothing wrong with a vomit bomb tinnie. I was my drink of choice and living in north america now still buy it at $22 CAD a sixer when it's a hot one in the summer.

[–]PseudoFake 1 point2 points ago

Like most people think America's beer is like Bud or some shit

[–]rpaggio 4 points5 points ago

Except it is America's beer. Bud Light and Budweiser are the two most popular beers in America

[–]shastapete 0 points1 point ago

except Anheuser-Busch is a Belgium company

[–]rpaggio 0 points1 point ago

OK that's true technically but we're talking about cultural views on beer and whatnot. Americans often don't know that the most popular import beers are not popular in their home countries. While I agree that bud and its many varieties are terrible, it's not fair to say that Budweiser is the same to Americans as Fosters is to Australians

[–]gnome_chomsky 0 points1 point ago

To be fair, a SABMiller, a South African company, owns both VB and Foster's: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAB_Miller#Australia

[–]PseudoFake 0 points1 point ago

Oh... Yeah, I guess so.

[–]HertzaHaeon 1 point2 points ago

First, I'm not a beer drinker, so I just picked the first thing that came up.

Second, every country has stereotypical products that aren't necessarily accurate of actual mainstream tastes there. If I'd be upset every time someone thinks I drink Absolut vodka because I'm Swedish or some such, I'd be upset fairly often.

There's a lot of IKEA furniture in my apartment though, which kind of blunts my point and I'm not sure exactly why I'm mentioning it.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]HertzaHaeon 0 points1 point ago

It's cool, I didn't think you were. :)

[–]protege_no1 0 points1 point ago

just like how people think Aussies say "throw a shrimp on the barbie," I don't know any one who has ever said this in my whole life living in Australia, except for foreigners on TV. Its interesting how things come about, but hey having 'false' icons/stereotypes brings tourists and sells products. Its all meant to be a bit of fun, nothing to be upset about :)

[–]HertzaHaeon 0 points1 point ago

Yes, I think it's fairly silly and harmless most of the time.

With stereotypes such as Swedish women being easy, blonde sluts, it's not so fun anymore.

[–]protege_no1 0 points1 point ago

Swedish women are easy? never heard that before or blonde sluts, mostly just 'dumb blondes', and there is even one for my hair colour, but who cares, its stupid. I don't think people take stereotypes too seriously, but if they do then its a bit scary.

[–]NobilityScooter 0 points1 point ago

It always gets me that most foreigners think Fosters is the flagship Australian beer

If you watched the Fosters' adverts in the UK, you would have a sound understanding as to why this is the case.

[–]protege_no1 0 points1 point ago

VB is owned by Fosters which was sold to Ango-South African brewing company SABMiller, it is a shame its not Aussie owned any more. :(

[–]HertzaHaeon 7 points8 points ago

And here I thought people would be upset over me making light of 173 deaths and the suffering of cute animals, but no, it's the choice of beer.

[–]3206 3 points4 points ago

Clearly not Australian, photoshops in Fosters then is surprised when beer is our number one priority.

[–]HertzaHaeon 1 point2 points ago

This is true. I'm about as far away as you can go from Australia.

[–]hryelle 9 points10 points ago

make it a little creatures pale ale ya bogan cunt.

[–]shewhofaps-wins 0 points1 point ago

Hell yeah!

[–]kilbert66 8 points9 points ago

but..it's Australian for beer!

[–]Silently_Judges_You 24 points25 points ago

[–]Churba 1 point2 points ago

Not at all, you've cut off half the line - It's Australian for Cheap, shitty beer that we sell to foreigners.

[–]evilbob 9 points10 points ago

Fuck vb. Almost as bad as fosters. Bloody fucking horrible stuff.

[–]handsome_manson 0 points1 point ago

emu export!

[–]DBFPunch 0 points1 point ago

that is not to be mentioned.

So you're in wa then?

[–]handsome_manson 0 points1 point ago

obviously, east coast have vb we have export or red cans as we call them

[–]ShmoopyGuy 0 points1 point ago

HAHA EMU is Shit. VB is shit. Fosters is not worth mentioning. I've been drinking some local Kolsh recently. Love it mate

[–]handsome_manson 1 point2 points ago

local kolsh? where from

edit: and yes i agree they are all crap i was merely being patriotic

[–]ShmoopyGuy 1 point2 points ago

Haha yeah i know! Sorry Kolsch! not Kolsh.. http://www.colonialbrewingco.com.au/ this was probably my favourite. The Custard, Pink lady apple cider is pretty mind blowing aswell

[–]handsome_manson 1 point2 points ago

these guys are awesome too, especially the kolsch eagle bay brewing company

[–]wildzero777 10 points11 points ago

Photoshop is accurate. If you'd just drank Fosters you'd want to be put down too..

[–]Dennmic 5 points6 points ago

A lot of people in my area lost houses. As I recall the sky looked surreal that afternoon.

[–]PurpleSfinx 3 points4 points ago

The sky was purple. Not just kinda bluish red in areas at sunset, fucking purple. I might still have some photos somewhere...

Scariest fucking thing ever. I'm sorry for your loss.

[–]gregd 0 points1 point ago

Black Saturday?

[–]Brettuss 0 points1 point ago

I am sorry about your friend. I am asking this question because I really have no clue. How does someone die from this? It seems this is something you can see coming from a ways away. Did it surround them? Were they sleeping?

[–]shewhofaps-wins 1 point2 points ago

Bush fires move fast - picture this - its 40C and the wind is blowing a gale. The ground is covered in the most flammable shit you can imagine and these things can jump roads and make trees explode. Literally.

Tl;dr in australia we have fiendfyre

[–]Three_Headed_Monkey 100 points101 points ago*

Unfortunately, Sam the koala had to be put down just a few months afterwards due to being diagnosed with clamydia.

Last year a memorial for the koala was unveiled.

EDIT: There is a video of this event too.

[–]karabeckian 37 points38 points ago

So how did koalas get clamydia?

[–]drunk_otter 99 points100 points ago

From kissing girls with infected gums.

[–]Cookindinner 14 points15 points ago

10/10

[–]Tron-Gorf 32 points33 points ago

Drinking from infected water bottles.

[–]The_Fiddler1979 16 points17 points ago

It's actually eye clamidia in Koalas, it's a massive problem and they are very close to being wiped out.

[–]Akeii 21 points22 points ago

Due to being diagnosed with clamydia

How did koalas get clamydia?

It's actually eye clamidia

AGGGGH it's CHLAMYDIA, people...

[–]The_Fiddler1979 16 points17 points ago

You should see a doctor about that...

[–]TheLastBadger 2 points3 points ago

Knowing is half the battle.

[–]sunjaegoo 12 points13 points ago

Koalas are least concern, at least as far as native population goes.

[–]Probablythefirst 5 points6 points ago

What?

[–]Martel732 18 points19 points ago

He means that their conservation status is listed as least concern, at least according to the IUCN, as of 2011. Source.

[–]The_Fiddler1979 4 points5 points ago

How so?

[–]Martel732 19 points20 points ago

He means that their conservation status is listed as least concern, at least according to the IUCN, as of 2011. Source.

[–]The_Fiddler1979 1 point2 points ago

Thanks :)

[–]jonuggs 1 point2 points ago

I hear the indigenous Drop Bear is quite worrisome.

[–]DBFPunch 0 points1 point ago

With the hoop snakes

[–]23_47 1 point2 points ago

Damn those Koalas are kinky

[–]Three_Headed_Monkey 1 point2 points ago

Apparently it's a bit of an epidemic. About 50% of the wild population have it, unfortunately.

[–]a_can_of_solo 0 points1 point ago

I am not sure but it's a problem in the koala population.

[–]shutupjoey -2 points-1 points ago

Jolly ranchers.

[–]SnowPro1986 1 point2 points ago

Shut up shutupjoey.

[–]majibob 14 points15 points ago

...captain buzzkill

[–]SplurgyA 5 points6 points ago

What a bizarre roller-coaster of emotions you just took me on. In the last 60 seconds I discovered this photo, was heart warmed, read this comment, was momentarily devastated by his untimely death and am now pacified by the bronze sculpture.

I just don't know what to think any more.

[–]Three_Headed_Monkey 1 point2 points ago*

It is a bit sad. But at least the poor creature was made more comfortable in its final few months that it would other wise have been. It's burns were treated and it had medical care until the end.

Also, there is a video of this event too.

Sam also made a real difference to us as well.

[–]jpdyno 10 points11 points ago

Now she forever lives at Melbourne museum. Saw her a few weeks ago, poor little thing. Became a symbol for Australian resiliance and friendship overnight.

[–]SociableSociopath 2 points3 points ago

I believe you mean is forever remembered or memorialized seeing as she lives no more.

[–]Churba 1 point2 points ago

Where's Chuck Testa when you need him?

[–]SnowPro1986 3 points4 points ago

Seen the cute picture and then read this disappointing comment. It's like if Marley And Me was filmed in Compton.

[–]syuk 1 point2 points ago

And some bastards vandalised it? :(

[–]WarPhalange 60 points61 points ago

I always wonder what animals like that think. They see a strange being in weird colors they've never seen before just run up to them, help them, and then run away again.

[–]Three_Headed_Monkey 31 points32 points ago

I imagine it might be like what we would describe as an encounter with an alien species.

[–]SanJoseSharks 12 points13 points ago

Would we act the same way if we we're the intelligent alien species?

[–]isysdamn 15 points16 points ago

no because we are sapient; we would analyze the encounter before, during and after. That koala is only going to analyze our existence during the encounter.

[–]SanJoseSharks 5 points6 points ago

are you saying the koala is not going to like humans more and be less apprehensive towards them after this action?

[–]isysdamn 2 points3 points ago

The koala wont have that thought until it recalls the memory of the human giving it water, and those thoughts will fade as soon as the human leaves. It isn't going to think about humans outside of this context.

Though domesticated animals like dogs and cats may understand the existence of their owners when they are not present, I would argue that it is programming and not true sapience. I am even skeptical of higher functioning primates like gorillas and chimpanzees have the ability to think outside of narrow time frame.

We could imagine and predict the existence of aliens, judge them by their actions and react to those actions in the future. Non-sapient creatures are incapable of this, at least in theory as we have yet to meet another species such as this.

[–]Epicman 2 points3 points ago

But they could recall that memory upon seeing such a creature again, yes?

As in, if a fire were to break out again, and a firefighter were around, the animal could associate it with help?

[–]isysdamn 2 points3 points ago

Sure, if the creature had the ability to retain that complex of a memory; no reason it could not put two and two together. But I doubt it would be able to make that connection without the presence of fire and firefighter.

But this guy has a better explanation for the actions of the koala. http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/rdjub/this_is_from_a_few_years_back_during_some_pretty/c452eqo

I kinda of branched out on my original argument in that the man/koala interaction is different from a potential man/alien interaction. Non-sapient creatures don't think outside of there current frame of reference, whereas sapient creatures can look at multiple frames of reference and even imagine new ones at will.

Assuming that the aliens are not so far advanced that sapience is inferior to there class of consciousness, we would interact more like native Americans and the Europeans did. Except this time us natives would be considerably more adept at destruction.

[–]scissorhand26 1 point2 points ago

Wouldn't you expect some degree of sliding scale in terms of sapience though? There is some evidence that there are animals other than humans that can consider things outside the current moment. I just figure some animals out there would be near to us somewhat in terms of this ability.

[–]Fidena 1 point2 points ago

Crows can recognize faces of people who were mean to them, and harass them afterwords while ignoring other passers-by.

[–]isysdamn 0 points1 point ago

source?

[–]isysdamn 0 points1 point ago

nice, thanks!

[–]Fidena 1 point2 points ago

They don't even just remember who's bad. They teach it to their young.

[–]yangx 3 points4 points ago

How do you know what an animal thinks?

[–]isysdamn 3 points4 points ago*

By observing their behavior.

[–]Shaggy_Crew 3 points4 points ago

In the end it's still all speculation though.

[–]isysdamn 1 point2 points ago

True, a lot of it is protoscience; but observation is the only way we know how to understand the thought processes of creatures who do not have language.

[–]guest123420 0 points1 point ago

Wasn't there a story of Jane Goodall returning to the ape pride after a long time and was remembered?

[–]kwangqengelele 0 points1 point ago

There's a few stories of gorillas and chimps taught sign language, mainly so we can get an idea of how they think. They would not only use sign language to talk about things that weren't present but would make up words for things they didn't have signs for, I think one gorilla combined the signs for necklace and arm to describe a bracelet.

[–]pieguyfly 0 points1 point ago

No, koalas give zero fucks about anything.

[–]EvanMacIan 1 point2 points ago

It would be like if we were all about to get wiped out by a giant meteor or nuclear war or something, and some aliens suddenly swooped in, fixed the problem, and flew away.

[–]4rch 2 points3 points ago

Could you imagine? Itd be Like we're being watched until we royally fuck up and they're like "nooooooooo!" come in, press some button and it's all fixed and fly away

[–]EvanMacIan 1 point2 points ago

And then they'd go a post pictures of us on space-reddit.

[–]Three_Headed_Monkey 0 points1 point ago

"I always wonder what humans like that think. They see a strange craft in weird colors they've never seen before just fly up to them, help them, and then fly away again."

[–]ofNoImportance 4 points5 points ago

Not all higher-intelligence animals have a self-preservation instinct which extends to predators.

Koalas evolved in an ecosystem where they have no natural predators. As such, they don't fear large animals which other animals may consider to be predators. It's something that can be observed in multiple ecosystems and species around the world, but it's found more commonly in the isolated ones.

[–]BABYEATER1012 1 point2 points ago

I'd imagine it is the same feeling when some random person does the same. You're left bewildered and confused about what happened and who was that person.

[–]UnamusedOwl 36 points37 points ago

this picture made my day :)

[–]WooZooZam 23 points24 points ago

The koala went on to die.

[–]TheBunyipsTeacup 51 points52 points ago

But the Sith are extinct! They have been for nearly a millenium.

[–]louddwnunder 12 points13 points ago

The Koala died of clamydia

[–]Kamoda 3 points4 points ago

Is that a clever joke that I don't get or just a typo?

[–]Sadistik 7 points8 points ago*

No, she really did die of chlamydia.

[–]Kamoda 1 point2 points ago

I was referring to "clamydia". I thought maybe koalas had something to do with clams.

I am not a smart man.

[–]ThePhenix 1 point2 points ago

Well, fuck you.

[–]ShmoopyGuy 2 points3 points ago

This photo made It a G'day?

[–]julzham 3 points4 points ago

You're doing it wrong

[–]unussapiens 4 points5 points ago

Technically correct, colloquially not so much.

[–]zumu 13 points14 points ago

If this was an Onion article it would read: "Koala does MDMA: Accepts water from strange man"

[–]homeboy5925 0 points1 point ago

blow me up broooooo

[–]bishman 7 points8 points ago

Heres a video of a koala during a heatwave a few years ago.

These kinds of stories are always bittersweet though because for wild koalas to interact with humans in this way means they must be pretty desperate.

[–]Manial[!] 22 points23 points ago

If anyone's wondering, koalas almost never drink water normally. Instead they get all the moisture they need from eucalyptus leaves.

[–]JoustingTimberflake 19 points20 points ago

I used to think (and spread) that koala meant "waterless", but after reading the Wikipedia page about them, I stand corrected. Farewell, fake fact that got me laid dozens of times.

[–]spongemonster 86 points87 points ago

And there she was, the single most beautiful woman I had ever seen. The way she entered the room, her confidence, it was clear she knew the effect she was having on the other guys. A quick glance around the pub confirmed as much. Every man, dumbstruck by her stunning beauty, every woman, seething with envy.

As she approached the bar, the crowds of packed people parted unbelievably in front of her. She stopped at the bar and appeared to steel herself in preparation for the inevitable onrush of advances.

One after another, the men came, and one after another turned away. These were not the average joes either, no, these were the cream of the crop. The best of the best, the hottest, most charming, panty moistening men this pub had to offer were turned away again and again. With little more then a dismissive wave, she was shunning men of all types.

There was no way I could contend with them; what could I possibly offer her that those men couldn't. But it soon became clear, I had one thing that they didn't. A secret weapon I learned years ago. It would either fail miserably, or work miraculously.

I stood up, took a deep breath, and prepared for the worst. Walking over, I was receiving nothing but condescending glances from everyone I passed. It didn't matter anymore, my pride was on the line, but I wasn't going to let them stop me.

I walked up to Her and the pub got quiet. Conversations around us ceased, and I knew everyone's attention was on us. Maybe it was just my focus taking over, or perhaps the fear, but the world started quieting around me. It was going to be either the greatest, or the worst moment of my life.

She half turned in my direction, probably puzzled at how someone like me would even bother. When our eyes met, my mind started spinning, the strength in my legs suddenly disappearing. I used all my strength, all my resolve, to stay standing and at the very least appear confident.

I braced myself against the bar, took a deep breath and said:

"Hi, my name is JoustingTimberflake. Did you know that the word 'koala' actually means 'waterless?' Koalas get the vast majority of their daily water intake from eating eucalyptus leaves."

She appeared to be taken aback, seemingly stunned by my words. It was like time slowed down and the world faded around us. Her eyes furrowed slightly and a smile formed on her lips. She stepped closer to me, only breaking eye contact to glance at my lips. She pressed herself to me and we embraced, kissing each other deeply. We stood there locked in entwined together for what felt like an eternity.

The world started coming back into focus around us. She grasped my hand, and pulled me towards the exit. Rushing through the crowds we finally burst outside. I hailed the nearest taxi, and as we were driving off I could hear the muted cheers from the patrons in the pub.

The rest of the night was a blur. It was the most passionate, ecstasy inducing encounter I've ever had, and it lasted long into the night.

[–]JoustingTimberflake 24 points25 points ago

Fine... I will keep using the fake koala fact.

Also, this will be the highest point of my day until I return home. For that I thank you dearly, spongemonster.

[–]awesomedave680[!] 13 points14 points ago

Oh

[–]forgetful_storytellr 8 points9 points ago

i read this as a moan. up you go.

[–]SolomonGrumpy 1 point2 points ago

And that's how you determined she is a Replicant.

[–]PurpleSfinx 0 points1 point ago

Farewell, fake fact that got me laid dozens of times.

You just broke the world integrity record.

[–]Hemtroll 0 points1 point ago

I was wondering until I saw the same comment on the youtube video

[–]hivemonkey 9 points10 points ago

See, this is how you fucking do it. halps32 knows that this is a screencap from an older video, and instead of pretending like it's brand new and posting it with a made up title ("check out my uncle the Australian hero last week - true story!") to try to farm karma off kids and late-comers he owns up to it being a bit old in the title. Well done sir, a boat for you.

[–]apriloneil 0 points1 point ago

To be fair, I'd hazard a guess that pretty much all Australian redditors knows this photo's origins and would promptly call out OP if he'd tried to pull that stunt. It's pretty iconic round these parts.

[–]hivemonkey 0 points1 point ago

With good reason, that whole video is pretty badass.

[–]pretty-little-angel 18 points19 points ago

The Black Saturday Bushfires for anyone who is interested.

173 people died across the state

[–]drunk_otter 25 points26 points ago

Actually no - came out afterwards that this pic was from an unrelated back-burn. It just became iconic of the fires.

[–]drunk_otter 7 points8 points ago

[–]riversofgore 0 points1 point ago

This is very true. Plus, OP is scared of flying.

[–]yawningangel 1 point2 points ago

and here we are cooing over a koala..

have a mate who lost his property to that one :( he was pretty lucky

[–]Three_Headed_Monkey 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, it was a pretty terrible day all around. Losing your house to the fire would be terrible, but yes he was lucky that it could have been a lot worse. Houses can be rebuilt.

Also, practical good came from that photo as well as around $300,000 was raised for the CFA from copies sold. Plus the global awareness that image helped to raise.

On the whole, I think we are pretty lucky as far as natural disasters go, if that is our worst. Less than a year after Black Saturday the Haiti earthquakes occurred. As bad as the fires were, that earthquake was far deadlier by several orders of magnitude.

[–]ibuildrockets 4 points5 points ago

I'm a bit late here. I'm a volunteer fire fighter and was on two strike teams into Kinglake. Firstly on Monday then on Friday after Black Saturday. Here's some photos I took on the Friday. http://www.flickr.com/photos/oflittleinterest/sets/72157613820045546/

[–]nodefense 5 points6 points ago

I'm pretty sure that at 48°C, the day of the bushfires was the hottest day I've ever lived through.

[–]Kamaroth 7 points8 points ago

I remember these fires. It was horrific.

Not because of the fire. Because of the number of huntsman spiders that came running out of smoldering trees and took up residence in my house...

[–]skytro 0 points1 point ago

Recent wagga floods, you would not want to live near here if you have seen the pictures, so many spiders.

Cheers mate, I was fuckin' parched.

[–]howlingbellsfan 3 points4 points ago

So glad I didn't open up to comments blaring 'hero' everywhere. Australia ftw.

[–]CommanderFlapjacks 6 points7 points ago

Wow that drop bear almost got him! Close one

[–]someotheridiot 1 point2 points ago

Sadly seconds after this photo was taken, the Koala eviscerated his savior.

[–]shewhofaps-wins 0 points1 point ago

Drop bears gotta drop

[–]JesseMckaneWilson 1 point2 points ago

[–]skysurfer88 1 point2 points ago

[–]intel23 3 points4 points ago

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points ago

[–]Paultimate79 1 point2 points ago

Stuff like this needs to be posted to /r/aww too!

We are getting a bad influx of depressing images there and people that cant read the rules.

[–]fettsack2 2 points3 points ago

What a weird looking dog.

[–]randomnothing 2 points3 points ago

Holy shit, is that... that's a koala. A koala getting water from a firefighter. Why is this not the logo for Google?

The same koala days after losing its home

[–]kezza596 0 points1 point ago

My grandad requested this photo when he saw it in the local newspaper and now has it framed on his wall. It's a heart-lifting image every time I see it.

[–]jacobtaylor1987 0 points1 point ago

That koala ended up dying of syphillis or chlamydia. I can't remember which.

[–]Keyboardin 0 points1 point ago

Black Saturday? I had to evacuate in Black Saturday due to the fire being only 3km away.

[–]grachi 0 points1 point ago

"oh thank you kind sir, it is lovely to meet you too, now help me sip some of this delicious water"

[–]aemaen 0 points1 point ago

I remember this day, it will be forever burned into my memory. The sky was red with the smoke. I remember driving home from work and seeing the massive plume of smoke just over the horizon. Then sitting at home watching the death toll rise.

[–]Esma698 0 points1 point ago

I saw this in the newspaper and had it in my room for about a year.

[–]wpiman 0 points1 point ago

Hey buddy, that is a plastic water jug. I sure hope you carrier that thing out of the jungle and put it in a recycling bin....

[–]bbgun114 0 points1 point ago

"thanks man for the wa-oh shit i gotta go back to sleep"

[–]enjoyfreedom 0 points1 point ago

That is one dedicated chartered financial analyst.

[–]Ben_G_man[!] 0 points1 point ago

Damn those onions.

[–]comradeKatze 0 points1 point ago

Koalas don't drink water

[–]apriloneil 0 points1 point ago

That one did.

[–]JonnyGoodfellow 0 points1 point ago

Anyone who lives in Australia: Do koalas routinely walk up to humans or was this just a matter of Mr.Koala being so thirsty he said, "Fuck it, I'll take my chances." ?

[–]apriloneil 1 point2 points ago

This is more a case of "That koala just survived a devastating bushfire by sheer luck alone and is probably extraordinarily dehydrated."

[–]Jayviar 0 points1 point ago

Can we get a follow-up interview with this guy?

[–]tientien 0 points1 point ago

He is a hero! He is very brave. Poor animals, it's very lovely. People should find ways to protect them. Thanks firefighters :)

[–]IAmSnort 0 points1 point ago

RELEVANT

or is it Followup?

[–]Riley9506 0 points1 point ago

I was just watching a very touching show about these Australian bush fires. A lot of fascinating creatures didn't make it but not a single species went missing after the grow back.

[–]vucinic 0 points1 point ago

But I thought Koalas got all the water they need just from eating eucalyptus!

[–]fitzy6669 0 points1 point ago

may i have this dance?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Someone get that Australian some clothes!

[–]virtyy 0 points1 point ago

Faith in humanity, rising.

[–]touriste 0 points1 point ago

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

That's a brilliant shot !!

[–]cawncawn 0 points1 point ago

I can imagine that little guy saying, "thanks, mate!"

[–]daniel14vt 0 points1 point ago

i though koalas got all their water from eucalyptus trees

[–]aazav 0 points1 point ago

"Every time" is two words.

[–]ropers -2 points-1 points ago

And by "gets me", he means it gets him karma.

[–]fakedaycakeday 0 points1 point ago

So nice of that guy to give you some water.

[–]stpedro 0 points1 point ago

And that's how John the fireman got chlamydia.
