It's amazing how he walked away from that.

I would give that a 9 out of 10

I thought all Canadians were nice.

Unless you're this guy.

True

I am so surprised that he didn't break any of his legs or shatter his kneecaps

I remember seeing this on live on TV. Was 07' if I remember correctly.

He kicked off his shoes in a fit of joy!

I thought shoes flying off only happened in Calvin and Hobbes.

Why do skaters leave their laces so loose?

My first thought.

So you end up not getting the result you expect, but what happens is so memorable in it's own sense that it ends up being talked about years after it happened, completely outshining the original intent?

(Sorry, I get what you're going for with the title. It's just interesting that Jake Brown's fall is more remembered than Bob Burnquist's gold medal run that immediately followed this run. You're still funny, I promise.)

I was going for more along the lines of 'not going quite as expected'

Call me a killjoy, but I don't find this funny. He was pretty badly injured from that, and he could have died.

Actually he walked away from it. Literally stood up and walked away with some assistance. Not badly injured. Not to detract from the potential for injury here but in this particular situation Brown was fine and actually won second place in the competition.

Oh no I watched it live when it happened, I was just saying that a fall of that height could have killed him. He cracked a vertebrae, bruised his liver and one of his lungs, and had a mild concussion. I think those are pretty serious injuries.

I'm just glad he didn't land on his feet.
