You can use reason without it being scentific. To say otherwise is to a) artificially discard endeavours in which you do use reason or b) to artificially extend 'science' past what science is. E.g. metaphysics, logic, philosophy in general. Also, I was kinda using them synonymously. And seeing as one of the definitions of 'rationality' is "agreeableness to reason, reasonableness" this seems perfectly, as it werer, reasonable. The point I was trying to make is that science is a particular way of dealing with the physical world - there are other perfectly rational, reasonable, logical ways as well, and said ways can be used to deal with phenomenon that can't be described as purely physical i.e. what we should do about the fact that we happen to be in the physical world. Personally, I would characterize science as a tool of reason, not the other way around.
