"Generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission.

i hate to be the guy that says this but... Sonic's arms are colored wrong :c

[–]WezVC 16 points17 points ago

So is the Triforce.

But I know what you mean. The Triforce at least looks like it's been done to fit in with the colour scheme. Sonic's arms just look like a mistake.

[–]GaryOaksAlcoholism 32 points33 points ago

Well I think the point of the triforce is that it is highlighting the triforce of wisdom, which is nayrus gift, and is colored blue, so I'm okay with that

[–]Mindle 8 points9 points ago

That was what I thought when I saw it.

[–]NegimaSonic 1 point2 points ago

Seems cool but I feel Sonic would match Courage or Wind better.

And to complete it:

Tails gets Wisdom.

And Eggman gets power I guess.

[–]Sekacnap 7 points8 points ago

And Eggman gets power I guess.

Eggman

Eggman

ಠ_ಠ

It is and forever will be Dr. Robotnick!

[–]speckledspectacles 1 point2 points ago

"Nobody calls me that anymore!"

[–]megadriven 1 point2 points ago

Robotnik*

[–]mikazoe 0 points1 point ago

thank you. that was driving me crazy

[–]NegimaSonic 1 point2 points ago

I'm going with what's current as decided by the company. Just like I accept that there are more Pokemon than the first 151.

[–]Thumbz8 0 points1 point ago

which is the one I'm going to have highlighted as well, once I get it.

[–]DirtyDanil 1 point2 points ago

Dear god, as someone who spends WAY too much time planning and choosing options you have now scared the fuck out of me in terms of getting a tattoo. Knowing that my tattoo was permanently slightly wrong would keep me up every night,.

[–]wizard_2 0 points1 point ago

Could be a Dachau reference hidden within the Zelda reference...

[–]evergladechris 3 points4 points ago

maybe sonic has blue arms because this sir also has blue arms.

[–]IvanKozlov 4 points5 points ago

I do believe that this is a madam.

[–]evergladechris -2 points-1 points ago*

no tits = guy ?

EDIT: love how this got downvoted, yet everyone agrees...

[–]IvanKozlov 5 points6 points ago

Huh. Didn't even notice that... I was looking at the hair length, and how skinny the person is.

[–]CaptainAbgefahren 1 point2 points ago

He is a so called "scene kid". Just look at this and you get the similarities.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]CaptainAbgefahren 0 points1 point ago

Short finger nails that aren't painted; a lot of hair on the arm; flat chested - I'm still pretty sure that's a dude.

[–]herrsmith 71 points72 points ago

As a veteran of the 16-bit console wars, seeing Sega and Nintendo characters coexist is an affront. I demand that you kids get off my lawn!

[–]VictorRomeo 28 points29 points ago

I served in a forward operating Gameboy Squadron cut off from the main grid and we got by on 12 packs of K-Mart batteries. Only the Special Operatives got the AV jacks.
I remember having skirmishes with the Game Gear patrols we'd run into now and then. But we kept to our Link cable fire teams to flank the enemy while our 4-way Adapter teams held them down under fire. Poor bastards never stood a chance. Especially at night, sure being backlit is all fancy and shiny for the gals while yer on leave. But out on the battlefield you're a dead man after consuming so much extra battery power.

Eventually I transferred out to a SNES Battalion. Got hooked back into the system. Even promoted me to commanding my own System.
But I'll never forget those nights and that horrible snapping sound as I saw those bastards power light shut off.

[–]why_not_agnosticism 2 points3 points ago

You should start a subreddit called "[MarioSweetMario](reddit.com/r/romesweetrome)" and get somebody to make this into a movie, stat.

[–]Ciznit 0 points1 point ago

The console wars is from Pure Pwnage, so in a sense it sort of has been made into something already.

[–]Aero_ 1 point2 points ago

I was with the atari lynx ii volunteer group... the lost battalion.

When I got out I did a lot of "skunkwork" R&D. Sega Saturn, Atari Jaguar, Virtual Boy... Not a lot of people still around to talk about those crazy experiments.

[–]TheCodexx 1 point2 points ago

You think your days in the force were horrible?

I used to be a member of the NES Battalion. Didn't find it much to my liking, so I defected and was made a member of the Saturn Squad. We were all trained to be pilots and promised a cushy job going up in the air for a bit before coming back down for most of the week. Sounded great. I thought things were going great. But I wanted a harder mission, and for my sins they gave me one. An unfortunate flaw with our deployment is that it was easy for spies to get in. Add that to how badly understaffed we were and things got real hairy real fast. We only served a few missions; we were promised to be rotated back to the real world real fast and that most of us would be replaced by something better. Some of the other parts of SEGA's military got some new toys and additions to their manpower. All we got were promises that it'd all be over soon. Our performance ended up being so bad that, after several crushing defeats against the N64 Strike Squadron our entire unit was simply dropped. Most of us were dead anyways.

[–]Mr_Snuts 0 points1 point ago

Lines were definitely drawn in the Sega vs Nintendo war as a kid. Never would I include the two.

[–]K-ralz 34 points35 points ago

I guess that's a cool tattoo...no way would i fucking have that on my arm for the rest of my life though.

[–]pingas 6 points7 points ago

Pfft, are you kidding? Iit makes getting a job SO much easier.

[–]zephyy 1 point2 points ago

ugh wearing long sleeves is such a hard thing to do am i right?

[–]Stellio -2 points-1 points ago

I like to think that people who get tattoo sleeves are just giving themselves a life handicap because they believe they're so awesome everyone would want to hire them otherwise.

[–]Agent_Volkoff 1 point2 points ago

I have both arms with full sleeve tattoos and I work in 5 star resorts and bars. Have not had a problem with my tattoos because all you need to do is put on a long sleeve shirt.

so yeh... great handicap

[–]billyup -1 points0 points ago

I'd rather have ink in my skin than you in my life.

[–]morgueanna 43 points44 points ago

That is a stunning tattoo. The color work is amazing. I don't really care what the tattoo is of, whoever did that work is a fantastic artist.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points ago

no disrespect but that tattooing is sub-par at best. weak lines and very shoddy shading.

[–]waywardspooky 60 points61 points ago

Nice tattoo, but I can honestly say at this point I'm tired of seeing Mario and Zelda related tattoos posted in this subreddit every few days. Feels like game related tattoos have become so stagnant.

[–]oppandadardar 18 points19 points ago

Welcome to /r/gaming. Where only a hand-full of games and characters are accepted.

[–]IAMBollock 0 points1 point ago

And we cycle them, over and over.

Welcome to Reddit basically.

[–]Doombringer223 7 points8 points ago

I got a nidoking tattooed on my back if you want to see some variety.

[–]Roro909 1 point2 points ago

Pics

[–]Doombringer223 11 points12 points ago

Nidoking. Sorry for the glare. I had just cleaned it and put the ointment stuff on it. I tried to take a better picture of it but I can't position the phone to get it in frame by myself. Also this pic is like 2 or 3 years old.

[–]demerztox94 0 points1 point ago

I like the crown over Nidoking. My 2 cents.

[–]agiantcoconut[!] 10 points11 points ago

Honestly, I feel like that for most tattoos these days. I cant tell you how long it been since I've seen a tattoo that makes me go "wow."

[–]SirCannonFodder 2 points3 points ago

Well this guy got the star sign for The Lover from Oblivion tattooed on his arm. Very tasteful, and incredibly well done.

[–]chadballs 1 point2 points ago

Also cakes, cupcakes, shirts, and hats made by peoples family and friends.

[–]sli 14 points15 points ago

I'm more impressed with the quality of the work than I am with the subject matter.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points ago

I have to agree. And not just because sli and I are best friends forever.

[–]WezVC 7 points8 points ago

I would never get it done myself but I do think it looks amazing.

Really well done.

[–]LeopoldJackson 5 points6 points ago

I can practically hear her screeching "I'm SUCH a nerd!"

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

Her shirt is either very new or she folds her clothes in the strangest ways...

[–]KF_PONYVILLE 11 points12 points ago

That's going to be a nightmare in 40 years...

[–]RonaldFuckingPaul 9 points10 points ago

probably more like 15

[–]crazybusdriver -5 points-4 points ago

probably as soon as it's time to try to get anything above entry level jobs.

[–]scrith 6 points7 points ago

I work in a place where most people make 6 figures. Complete sleeves are common.

[–]crazybusdriver -1 points0 points ago

Good for you! I'm glad there are places that aren't so uptight.

[–]Agent_Volkoff -4 points-3 points ago

thats why long sleeve shirts are made, I've got both arms with full sleeve tattoos and never been knocked back from any job because they have not scene the tattoos

and i work in 5 star establishments in the hospitality industry

[–]crazybusdriver 1 point2 points ago

Great! I am glad there are options that aren't so uptight. I can see how it could present issues at some workplaces though.

[–]delecti 2 points3 points ago

Actually I believe long sleeve shirts are made for keeping warmer, that is a convenient side benefit though.

[–]stfm 2 points3 points ago

Where long shirts are mandatory

[–]slyDelcatty 2 points3 points ago

Are there many high-paying jobs that don't require business attire? I don't think so.

[–]Methylobacterium 8 points9 points ago

"Let me tell you something about these tattoos, okay. That is Mario, that is Sonic, that is Zelda, that's just gibberish. They are completely conflicting ideologies, and that does not make you a citizen of gaming, it makes you full of shit!"

[–]moccajoghurt 1 point2 points ago

what if the person likes each of the characters?

[–]squidesquide 16 points17 points ago

Sorry, we're not hiring.

[–]pnettle 10 points11 points ago

You obviously don't work in the software world.

For the most part we don't give a fuck about those kinds of things. There's probably a few companies that might, but by far the most in software don't care, its about how good you are, not how you look.

[–]churfzilla 14 points15 points ago

I have full sleeve tattoos, I've never had a problem with getting a job because of it. This seems to be a standard misconception.

[–]Agent_Volkoff 2 points3 points ago

long sleeve shirt FTW

[–]WeCanNeverBePilots 5 points6 points ago*

That's all right, we're hiring. I'll take creative, passionate and talented peoples over dull farts in suits any day of the week. It's worked out wonderfully so far actually.

[–]Kayedon 7 points8 points ago

But you can still never be pilots.

[–]WeCanNeverBePilots 0 points1 point ago

hahah, touché sir. Touché.

[–]starbuck2020 1 point2 points ago

Would be cooler if it was nights into dreams.

[–]AloeRP 1 point2 points ago

Every time I see something like this my initial reaction is to think about how awesome this looks, my next is to think how fucking terrible it's going to look the second her young skin loses any elasticity

[–]MarinePrincePrime 1 point2 points ago

You all thought this was a girl haha

[–]Whychosis 5 points6 points ago

I'll get a tattoo that references video games so recognizable the most isolated of ancient hermits will know I'm a hardcore gamer.

[–]theslyder 4 points5 points ago

Coincidentally those are also three games that were most enjoyed by a generation. Well golly-jee-shit. I wonder what the deal is there.

[–]Whychosis 0 points1 point ago

Were they now? that's interesting. Though I wouldn't go as far as to say "most enjoyed", I still think "most recognizable".

[–]theslyder 0 points1 point ago

I think if you took a survey regarding favorite video game series, especially from the kids that grew up per-2000s, Mario, Zelda, and sonic games would be among the top.

[–]Whychosis 0 points1 point ago

It would have to be kids who actually played those games.

[–]theslyder 0 points1 point ago

I don't understand the point of that sentence. My point was that most kids played those games. It's very well recognized because they were really good games that a huge percentage of the gaming population played as children (And still today.)

[–]Beretot 3 points4 points ago

Wisdom triforce. Good choice, in my opinion.

[–]Isaac_Clarke_Is_Dead 3 points4 points ago

very nice and colourful sleeve. I like.

[–]duvakiin 1 point2 points ago

like the arm. cant tell if boy or girl tho

[–]iamjakt 1 point2 points ago

fucking beautiful.

[–]seanman72 1 point2 points ago

7 hours into a video game sleeve myself, with a few more left to finish the lines before we start shading/(colouring?) I think this one is great, but personally wouldn't do the blue sky. Just preference I suppose.

[–]fofifth 1 point2 points ago

I usually hate gaming tattoos but this is fucking beautiful.

[–]stelliokantos 3 points4 points ago

nope, doesn't look horrifyingly regrettable at all

[–]Nagastolemybike 1 point2 points ago

Its actually kind of ironic he coloured in the triforce of wisdom, because that tattoo is pretty stupid.

[–]theslyder 8 points9 points ago

In my opinion the only kind of tattoo that isn't stupid is the kind that is a tribute to something the owner cares about. That's clearly what this is, and it's infinitely more respectable than an ankle butterfly, tramp-stamp, barbed wire bicep, or bar-code.

[–]sashimi_taco 1 point2 points ago

he can't even be bothered to look away from the screen.

[–]furcifers -1 points0 points ago

People can't just get regular sized tattoos now. That's for squares. You gotta disfigure 1/8th of your body to be a rebel.

[–]xxxtyrantxxx 2 points3 points ago

looks pretty damn stupid

[–]n3kr0n -1 points0 points ago

You just have to love those "how will it look in 40 years" dumbass posts. This subreddit is crawling with basement dwelling fatasses who havent seen the sun in weeks BUT BEWARE OF THE HORRORS THAT ARE TATTOOS ON OLD SKIN!!!

[–]awkward_bartender 4 points5 points ago*

Relevant

Edit: Sorry, first time posting link in comments. Trying to get the hang of this.

[–]blackfoxtonic 1 point2 points ago

Agreed! Also relevant. (Me and my Grandpa. Probably the most badass guy I know.)

[–]DarrenBurton 8 points9 points ago

But they make a valid point. It looks cool now, but the novelty of it won't last.

[–]ellisrgreen 2 points3 points ago

Definitely a life decision not to be regretted.

[–]WarPhalange 1 point2 points ago

Is this a guy or a girl? I'm about to masturbate and I need to know if I can use this as material.

[–]clerek 1 point2 points ago

I respect the artwork, but imo tattoo's like this are just plain stupid. It might seem like a great idea now but he(?)'s going to regret it. That being said to each his own.

[–]theslyder 6 points7 points ago

That sleeve isn't a tattoo of video game imagery. It's a tattoo of the owner's childhood and the happiness that video games brought them. Saying "they'll regret it" sounds about as solid as saying "They'll grow out of playing video games."

[–]blackpapermax -1 points0 points ago

That is exactly how I feel about my video game tattoos.

[–]bigpapaalex 2 points3 points ago

Maybe the owner is a tattoo artist themselves and doesnt give a fuck what you say

[–]clerek 0 points1 point ago

He shouldn't give any fucks as to what I say, simply voicing my opinion.

[–]ziggmuff 0 points1 point ago

Well I'd be sick of having that on my arm in about 2 seconds...

[–]afsdjkll 6 points7 points ago

It's a good thing it's on his arm.

[–]ziggmuff 0 points1 point ago

Doesn't make it any less lame.

[–]sastrone 0 points1 point ago

Jesus fucking christ reddit. I thought you were better than this.

[–]RonaldFuckingPaul 3 points4 points ago

really? have you seen this place?

[–]theslyder 0 points1 point ago

How is it so common that Sonic's arms are miscolored blue? I see it in print very often, but I can't imagine how bothersome it would be to have it permanently inked into your skin.

So, that aside, awesome tattoo.

Also, the photoshop job on that photo is pretty unattractive.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

So much money.

[–]zuluthrone 0 points1 point ago

It's too bad the sonic designers have no idea what they're doing both in gameplay and character mythology.

[–]klori 0 points1 point ago

Epic! Nuff said.

[–]eXXaXion 0 points1 point ago

Finally some lucky guy can fulfill his livelong dream of getting a handy from Sonic.

[–]I_Climb_Most_Things -2 points-1 points ago

One of the coolest tats I've seen!

[–]gech87 0 points1 point ago

I like thinking about the fact that when he is 80 years old, this tattoo's gonna be all wrinkly and the graphics are going to look dated.

[–]montysaurus 4 points5 points ago

when your 80 do you really think youre going to be a stunner?

[–]1234blahblahblah 1 point2 points ago

No, it's not. It's really really stupid. Probably one of the stupidest things I've seen.

[–]platipress 0 points1 point ago

Cool! I can't imagine having a blue arm though! O_O

[–]Integrity32 -3 points-2 points ago

That is a chick BTW not a "guy". Weird Hyper extended elbow is a feminine trait.

[–]victordavion 3 points4 points ago

I think only you and I can identify that. I knew it was a girl immediately.

[–]RearmintSpino 0 points1 point ago

Hyperextended elbow makes me nauseous.

[–]minerlj 0 points1 point ago

I have to say this is one of the nicest... no THE nicest color gaming tattoos I have ever seen in my entire life.

This was good and you should feel good.

[–]wasimalzin 0 points1 point ago

I like the tatoo.

[–]eyesofsaturn 0 points1 point ago

so recently i learned this shit is really expensive to have done

[–]Agent_Volkoff 0 points1 point ago

VERY expensive, average tattooist will charge anywhere from $120 and higher per hour... a high detail sleeve could take a lot longer than 15 hours.

Im around half way though my sleeve and still got around 7 hours or more left to do

[–]ohwhoaslomo 0 points1 point ago

Nice sleeve. The triforce at the bottom ruined it for me though.

[–]murlyy -5 points-4 points ago

Yeah, she won't regret that at all when shes 50.

[–]ffs_3333 2 points3 points ago

No. She probably won't.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]clerek 2 points3 points ago

Those points you raise aren't as permanent as a full sleeve tattoo.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]clerek 0 points1 point ago

I guess my post came off as offensive, i'm just stating my opinion: tattoos are just not my thing. People are free to do whatever they want and should do whatever they want.

I smoke cigs and i'm sure just as many, if not more, people hate smokers. Doesn't stop me from smoking (maybe its just the nicotine) because hey when I get off work I want a god damn cigarette and no one is gonna tell me otherwise. I just hope the tattoo's novelty doesn't fade.

[–]Ian_Dess 10 points11 points ago

Sorry sir, but you suffer from an illness called "Imaginary Enemies".

Therapy: do some real shit in your life and imaginary enemies will disappear.

[–]2Dfail -1 points0 points ago

i love you

[–]cjk105[!] -4 points-3 points ago

Yeah... you wont regret that or anything...

[–]Pteryx -1 points0 points ago

I cringed.

[–]MonotonousMan -1 points0 points ago

Dang. I knew this guy who had a similar idea, but he's a dumb piece of shit for one, so it was a lot less creative, and for two, he's a strung out broke bastard who will never be able to afford finishing it. Although i'm sure he wouldn't think twice to put the money towards his tattoo over feeding his daughter.

....Anyway, i'm not bitter about anything. I dig it.

[–]SpackDaddy -1 points0 points ago

this is sick

[–]George_Jefferson -1 points0 points ago

That's gonna be hot when she's 80.

[–]Philmriss -3 points-2 points ago

The Triforce in the same picture as Sonic, BELOW him, no less? Blasphemy!

[–]patchsonic -3 points-2 points ago

too bad they colored sonics arms blue instead of flesh tone, have fun with that mistake forever. until you die. until your skin is gone. like forever.

until you die.

[–]iaacp -2 points-1 points ago

no no no no....

[–]LuxMedia -2 points-1 points ago

I like this.

[–]BenoNZ -1 points0 points ago

Oh she's pregnant awesome!

[–]eff_bawmb 1 point2 points ago

That's a girl?

[–]WalterEKurtz -1 points0 points ago

Cross-platform-arm-tattoo. Awesome.
