Yup! Motorola Defy-Weak on specs though and Samsung Rugby Smart They are equivalent in toughness. For battery, I'd say Razr Maxx

Came here to say this. Beat me to it.

My dad has a Defy, and his screen is broken, the LCD is damaged, and the speaker doesn't work; he needs to put it on speakerphone to hear any calls.

AND IT STILL WORKS

What about the Defy+? ;)

Razr Maxx is pretty durable too - I've dropped mine a few times and its running fine. Also, supposedly has a waterproof nano coating.

Nokia still makes phones you know. Lumia 900 is probably the hardest smart phone I've ever felt. Made entirely of a thick polycarbonate, and being the best of CES 2012 also helps. WP7.5 is great too. It comes out in April.

Windows has come a long way with their mobile platform as well. I was poking around on one the other day (forget which phone) and it seemed more responsive than Android. I'd say it's on par with IOS regarding responsiveness.

That said I only played with it for a few minutes, not near enough to be an expert on the matter.

Caterpillar (heavy equipment manufacturer) introduces the B10 Android phone.

The phone specs are meh, but it is supposed to be tough (and HUGE). Also, the last paragraph points out other tough options.

Original Droid 1, i beat that phone to hell, dropped it at least 100 times, kept on ticking. Great phone

I've used Nokia for around 16 years - Nokia 3310, 3315 and 1100 are true gems. But now, the market is flooded with innovations. Latest on the shelves is the Sony Ericsson Sola with the floating touch display. Wish Nokia opted for Android too.

Xperia Active seems like one of the toughest smartphones w/ Android out there now.

The Casio Commando on Verizon is built to milspec including waterproof up to 5 (15?) meters. Unfortunately, if you still remember Nokia's existence, you're likely in Europe where the Commando is not available.

My brother has a Galaxy S2 and that thing has been doped and thrown a few time and shows no damage. Not saying it's indestructible but it's a fuckload stronger then those crappy iphones

[–]crustang 0 points1 point ago

That was the greatest phone I've ever had.

No where around.

The droid RAZR has kevlar on the back, diamond cut aluminum chassis, gorilla glass, and a splash proof coating on the outside and inside. It's pretty durable.

Nokia N79

outdated, but performs many of the functions of a smartphone with a 3-5 day battery life

How 'smart' do you consider windows mobile 5?

My motorola Atrix (with TPU case and screen protector) took quite a beating in it's time.

...I might have thrown it at a brick wall once with some force, it was cool. I'm now on an iPhone and it doesn't feel anything like as solid to me.

Forget a smart phone - I'd rather just still have one of these!

[–]Embroz -3 points-2 points ago

No. They stopped producing high functioning, extremely durable phones a long time ago. Otherwise there'd be no reason to buy a new phone. And you know that those mother fuckers in the big phone companies are just trying to get your money. Plus, hte tracking device in new phones ceases being functional after 5 years, so they need them to break more often than that so they can keep tracking you by using the phone in your pocket.

IT'S ALL A CONSPIRACY MAN!

Droid Incredible

I can vouche that this phone is tough as nails. I REALLY treat mine like shit, I've left it in the snow. Dropped it 10s of feet onto hard surfaces. Very rarely have I had any problem with it.

Battery dies quick though, I've had it 2.5 years and have had to replace the battery twice, and likely a third time soon.
