If a single person fell over the gate, then sure, but this is a failure of the gate operator, not the fault of any of the cyclists.

I used to race BMX. There is a audio track that plays that goes something "Something, Riders Ready, Watch the gate BEEP BEEP BEEP" and then the gate drops on the 3rd beep. Obviously the gate didn't drop on time. Haha.
