For some reason this guy reminds me of an Asian William Shatner

[–]Fencinator 7 points8 points ago

My thoughts exactly.

[–]mefuzzy 3 points4 points ago

He's Eric Tsang, a legend of his own in Asian movies.

He was the original crime lord in Infernal Affairs, the role Jack Nicholson tackled in The Departed.

[–]ledzep4life 4 points5 points ago

he's the spokesperson for pliceline.

[–]TronaldMcDonald[S] 0 points1 point ago

holy hell you're right

[–]jokzard 37 points38 points ago

He would never punch a woman. Those magazines had it coming.

[–]FenrirIII 91 points92 points ago

That's some knockout reading material.

[–]druss3ll 15 points16 points ago

punchy, emphatic style to it

[–]TheLastBoyScout 10 points11 points ago

really contains some hard hitting truth

[–]hoobsher 8 points9 points ago

[–]TheBIGSUMO 13 points14 points ago

Just for context, in this scene she's challenging Jet Li to hit her because she's a woman, calling him chicken, etc.

[–]Andre7723 10 points11 points ago

It's from the film Hitman with Jet Li.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points ago

Handled like a true chubby asian man.

[–]autumnaesthetic 4 points5 points ago

I did not hit her, it's not true! It's bullshit! I did not hit her! [throws water bottle] I did not. Oh hai Magazine.

[–]hampig 8 points9 points ago*

I enjoy this. What is it from?

Edit: I was the first comment, didn't have the answer plastered all over the page for me. Sorry for not asking in pun form. : (

[–]andersonb47 1 point2 points ago

Why is this getting downvoted..?

[–]The_Boudzter 6 points7 points ago*

Jet Li's Hitman.

[–]Partheus 0 points1 point ago

Left guy punching is the actor Eric Tsang. Otherwise I don't know. Could be "My Lucky Stars" with Jackie Chan but probably not.

[–]DubstepMeGusta 19 points20 points ago

Eric Tsang? You mean Asian William Shatner?

[–]exousic -1 points0 points ago

I love movies with him.

The day this comment is upvoted is the day I weep for reddit.

[–]ExileOnMainStreet 41 points42 points ago

Commence weeping sequence in T-minus 3 seconds.

[–][deleted] 44 points45 points ago

If sexism makes you cry, you're probably going to want to leave Reddit. This site is a pile of misogynistic shit on top of even more misogynistic shit.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]DuckTruck 0 points1 point ago

It's not a conspiracy, it's privilege. However reddit with its 18th entury liberal enlightenment viewpoint imagines that any bias in society must be due to intentional conspiracy because otherwise rationality would have created utopia.

Instead of realizing that, maybe, racism and sexism are actually still powerful forces despite being irrational.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points ago

I know we're not supposed to touch the poop, but are we allowed to talk with the poop?

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points ago

Shout at the poop all you want.

[–][deleted] ago

[–]DuckTruck 2 points3 points ago

You can also spot us by looking for people advocating radical egalitarianism over sexist jokes.

[deleted]

[–]DuckTruck 1 point2 points ago

SRS is the place where we joke around. Go to SRSDiscussion if you want to see actual discourse.

Also any feminist would admit that patriarchy harms men as well as women, just in different ways.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]DuckTruck 0 points1 point ago

I'm sure a discussion like that would go fine because it's widely accepted that patriarchy causes men to be violent and boorishly sexual shadows of humanity, just like it causes women to be subservient and meek shadows of humanity. However I won't post a discussion on it because Im not going to make a thread just to prove myself roght instead of having an actual discussion.

Here's the trailer for a documentary called tough guise, in which a male feminist explores how patriarchal media images harm men.

We don't joke about racism and sexism, we joke about racists and sexists.

[–]Shaboz 0 points1 point ago

My little cousin thought the name of someone who gives massages was a "massage-enist". I laughed, out loud.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]mama_llama 34 points35 points ago

That's like saying "I can be racist because I have a black friend."

[–]prometheanbound 28 points29 points ago

It's cool, I have a [insert oppressed] friend/girlfriend/other anecdotal relationship that obviously negates any charge of bigotry!

FYFY

[–]Commercialtalk 47 points48 points ago

hahah sexism is funny because it totally doesnt exist anymore

[–][deleted] 37 points38 points ago

I bet she just thinks you're hilarious when you make misogynistic jokes to her.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]anyalicious 25 points26 points ago

Hating misogyny and being upset by making light of domestic assault is being stuck up?

Wow, I hope you too are very happy but infertile together.

"Chill, it was just a joke."

I see what you're saying, and I get it. But just do this for a second... Step back from the whole thread. Look at that GIF and then read your comment again as if you didn't write it.

Now tell me honestly, doesn't it read a little bit like a threat? Or a warning? Can you see how it can be interpreted as "Hey ladies, I'm joking, but you should always be just a little afraid of me, you never know what I'll do... I'm joking... or am I?"?

Look, you seem actually to not be a shitlord, so I'm pretty comfortable assuming that you don't mean that. And I'm sure that your girl and your friends all know you well enough to know that you don't mean that. You seem to think you're a decent enough guy, so I know it may be hard to understand how anyone could think that you would ever mean that. Well, the millions of people on the internet who may read your ("Harmless because I would never") joke don't know you. All they see is someone making yet another joke about how women should know their place or else. You are essentially in a room full of strangers who do not know exactly how "innocent" a joke it was. So they wonder 'will I get beat for stepping out of line?" or they wonder "should I beat her for stepping out of line?"

And if every other nice normal guy on the internet who treats their ladies like queens makes an "innocent" joke about beating a woman for not knowing her place suddenly a lot of people think that maybe men should keep women in their places with violence. And suddenly a lot of people think that maybe they shouldn't step out of line or they'll get disciplined with violence.

So yeah dude, I'm sure you're a nice guy, and a good boyfriend and I'm sure you'll even make a good dad. But you still made a really horrible joke that has consequences beyond just a few internet points. Having respect for women means more than just treating your girlfriend well or calling your mother a lot. It means respecting women enough to not make light of violence directed against them.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]scooooot 11 points12 points ago

It's really easy to make a joke out of something when you're not the butt of the joke.

[–]anyalicious 17 points18 points ago

Victims of domestic assault do not find cavalier and "humorous" depictions of beating women funny.

I don't want you to procreate, because I worry that a child growing up in a household where violence against women is funny will cause the child to grow into someone who justifies finding humor in violence by calling people who don't stuck up.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]anyalicious 7 points8 points ago

Don't you see how silly it is that you don't see that joking about things normalizes things? But thanks for the condescending tone, it really is a good appetizer to my dinner.

[–]wakeandbac0n -4 points-3 points ago

Honestly, just a joke... And not even a "racy" one at that, some people need to breathe a bit more and lighten up some. Sheesh

[–]lethic 6 points7 points ago

I'm not offended, nor did i downvote, but it's just not a creative comment in the least. It's like the 'Australia is upside down' thing, is it really just as funny when you hear it for the 50th time in a week?

[–]tvc_15 4 points5 points ago

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Do what I do and lurk /r/ShitRedditSays.

[–]superclassycat -5 points-4 points ago

I didn't downvote because it was a misogynistic joke.

I downvoted because it was a shit joke.

today is "one of this days"

" And the man with no neck strikes again "

[–]TheMagicUpvoteFairy 0 points1 point ago

It looks like he's singing at the end. Right after he drops the magazines... Suddenly, opera.

[–]bigmac3d 0 points1 point ago

[–]familyguy829 0 points1 point ago

Can someone do us all a favor and edit this gif so that "OP" is on the girl's chest?...

Thanks ahead of time.

[–]russ3001 0 points1 point ago

I love the way he just drops the magazine at the end

[–]GetStapled 0 points1 point ago

This reminds me of baiting in league of legends.

[–]no_myth 0 points1 point ago

I don't get it.

[–]ITazedUBro -3 points-2 points ago

Haha. That's a funny clip. Everybody chill with the sexism sensitivity. Just enjoy the humor.

[–]gentleman_brown -5 points-4 points ago

Hey, Reddit upvotes all the other reposts, why NOT upvote the misogynistic reposts as well, amirite? GO NECKBEARDS!

[–]consolecowboy -1 points0 points ago

I do that regularly; I call it S&M. Fantastic gif, made all the better by the Jesus Lizard reference.

[–]ThroughTheWire -1 points0 points ago

hmm

[–]Andrew204 -1 points0 points ago

Sooo funny haha

[–]t3hcoolness -3 points-2 points ago

Somehow I read this as "POW! Right in the lesbian!"

[–]spaceylacey83 1 point2 points ago

Can't figure out how you did this one either. o.O

[–]t3hcoolness -3 points-2 points ago

How did I do which one when?

Wow the woman probably had no marks on her face since there were some cushion to the magazine?
