Er uh yeah... I'm going to have to ask you to come in on Saturday. Yeeeeah, that would be great.

[–]MoltenSlowa 2 points3 points ago

I'm gonna need to see those TPS reports.

[–]bakewood 1 point2 points ago

I always hear the 'yeaaaah' in the voice.

You know the one I mean

[–]lookitsaustin 4 points5 points ago

May I ask what it is you do? I don't know of many private sector jobs where they would ask you to volunteer after your shift. Unless you mean that you are volunteering to stay late and get paid, then never mind.

[–]Abraxas65 5 points6 points ago

I think he means his boss is looking for someone to stay beyond their scheduled shift (ie work 8 hours instead of their scheduled 6). Obviously they would get paid for the extra time.

[–]lookitsaustin 4 points5 points ago

I wasn't sure.

[–]daveoodoes 18 points19 points ago

Your boss when he says someone is getting a promotion and a pay raise: "yeah sorry, thegreenbackpack, you didn't get it."

[–]TheGreenBackPack[S] 77 points78 points ago

oh what a sad day when i don't get a promotion working at my university cafeteria.

[–]I_am_salad 12 points13 points ago

Just think! You could go from supervising casserole to supervising the casserole supervisor!

[–]Flarinite 2 points3 points ago

I just hope, for your sake, that he doesn't start supervising the salad.

[–]I_am_salad 3 points4 points ago

He can watch, but I'm not apologising for my actions. Slight risk of bondage.

[–]Serial-Eater 0 points1 point ago

or he could become the Executive Casserole Supervisor

[–]WarPhalange 0 points1 point ago

Bullshit, isn't it? I remember working at McDonald's and not giving a rat's ass about their training and going "above and beyond". I was told I'd never get promoted with that attitude. I looked at her (my manager) and said "Uhh... I got to college. I don't intend to work her any longer than I have to."

The weird thing is that she just became a nurse a few weeks prior and was only still working at McD's part time to help pay back loans. She should have known exactly what I was talking about.

[–]bakewood 3 points4 points ago

Except being in management looks way better on your resume than being a cashier.

[–]WarPhalange -1 points0 points ago

Yeah, but there was no conceivable way that I would have been made a manager by the time I had to start taking upper level classes. In addition to those classes, I had to do independent research. That became my new job.

[–]bakewood 0 points1 point ago

Then I stand corrected!

[–]ryanvango 7 points8 points ago

If I don't have very important plans that night, I always volunteer. Every job I've ever had it has always been noted and rewarded. More work hours (if I want them), pay raise, promotion, 3 day weekend etc. Even in the military (where I am now) sometimes at the start of the shift they say "alright we need 3 volunteers". I always raise my hand and half the time its for a cutback and I get to go home early.

TL;DR Always volunteer.

[–]That_Damn_Sasquatch 2 points3 points ago

[–]ryanvango 1 point2 points ago

HA! I like that. Ya there's been more than a few times I've gotten a crap draw for volunteering, but its usually something like "ok you're on base cleanup for the rest of the day". A lot of people whine about that, but base cleanup has shorter hours than my shop, its easier work, and I would have been at work anyway, so I didn't really lose anything, but I had a chance to gain something.

Also I think the "never volunteer" rule applies mostly to basic training. Never EVER volunteer for anything in basic.

[–]jimmypopali 4 points5 points ago

TIL Homers noise is slightly longer than his belly sticks out.

[–]sirJackHandy 1 point2 points ago

If you go to a costume party at your boss's house, wouldn't you think a good costume would be to dress up like the boss's wife? Trust me, it's not.

[–]Neoflare 1 point2 points ago

I see this now as I'm waiting for the next shift to come in...he's already 10 minutes late and I've been here for 13 hours.

[–]northbayray 1 point2 points ago

You're lucky you have the option! Where are I work, they just won't let you leave. Worst job ever.

[–]scots23 1 point2 points ago

I stay late every single time I'm asked to, not because I want to, but because my boss corners me while I'm by myself and my life flashes before my eyes. Next thing I know I agreed to stay three extra hours.

[–]fatanteater 0 points1 point ago

inb4 someone makes an Office Space related joke.

Er uh yeah... I'm going to have to ask you to come in on Saturday. Yeeeeah, that would be great.

Dammit.

[–]aco620 0 points1 point ago

Don't worry buddy, with that attitude he won't be your boss much longer!

[–]TheBoredMan 0 points1 point ago

Its Woody Harrelson's publicist!

[–]parliament32 0 points1 point ago

Something I picked up from the forces: never be the first guy to volunteer, and never be the last guy to volunteer.

[–]Iliakhai 0 points1 point ago

I'm pretty sure you can see yellow on green.

[–]mynicehat 0 points1 point ago

Ha. I watched this episode yesterday. "He's gaining on us!"

[–]elasticbingbong 0 points1 point ago

YOU BECOME AN EXHAUSTED .GIF?

[–]megasourusrex 0 points1 point ago

lololol this must how most people act when their bosses want them to do something they dont wanna do

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

I remember this from when the Simpsons used to be funny and I watched it. I loved this part of that episode. It was so creep.
