Not trying to anger anyone, just genuinely curious - why is it such a big deal that it mentions God on American money? Judging by the number of posts about it, it's a big issue for some people. I mean, on our coins it says 'Elizabeth II D G REG F D', or 'Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, Queen and defender of the faith'. Thing is, British atheists (as far as I know) aren't bothered about this to nearly the same extent that Americans are.

Though I happily appreciate the commentary, I'd like to note that on the other side of the US $100 bill is Benjamin Franklin, and building depicted is Independence Hall, where the Declaration and Constitution were written. At the very least, it exemplifies the good old days.

I'm proud to be a Canadian, but I'm afraid that we don't have much of a basis to claim scientific superiority nowadays. Our science minister is an ex-chiropractor who doesn't believe in evolution and the government keeps a tight lid on our scientists lest they mention something embarrassing like how our fish stocks are being rapidly depleted or that the tar sands are a major contributor to global warming.

We also pulled out of the Kyoto treaty due to lack of political will to meet our obligations.
