Beautiful picture, but it's not Hawaii. None of the islands in the chain have that shape.

edit: Between TinyEye and Google was able to track down the original: http://www.flickr.com/photos/28634332@N05/5927528805/ NASA says that's a photo of Atlantis over the Bahamas, taken from the ISS :)

Thank you for this clarification! No way to edit the title?

Sadly, no. You can only edit the content of a self-post, not the title.

Man can someone get that space ship out of the way? I'm trying to see the bahamas here!

In Soviet Russia, Atlantis is above water.

That island formation looks a lot like teradactyl bones to me.

And I was thinking it looks like a raptor laying on its left side.

What a sight!

But how was this picture taken?

Probably from the ISS ... and the space shuttle is delivering a module.

That's just a guess. It could be some other satellite.

I always think that they orbit so much further away and I' always surprised when I see how close they actually are. I know it's far but not as far as I think. I guess I'm a little slow at times. Great picture though.

I know what you mean. It's very hard to comprehend or visualise distance once you leave the planet. Beautiful picture :)
