A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports). "Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

"Generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission.

Worthless internet points Karma

this is reddit

[–]PotentialNinja 1 point2 points ago

Why is this comment not a post of a screenshot of you asking that question?

[–]ugug51 0 points1 point ago

Who reads comments?

[–]Odusei 1 point2 points ago

I never read comments. They all uniformly suck.

Kind of. The 360 controller d-pad is a huge piece of shit.

[–]RegisMK5 3 points4 points ago

The 360 controller is ideal for shooters, but the d-pad wrecks it for many other types of games.

I've heard good things about the 360 controller with the transforming d-pad.

[–]arof 1 point2 points ago

It's better, but it's still not perfect because the underlying hardware piece is still the 8-direction POC. Still, that's why PS2 controller + cheap adapter or PS3 with Motioninjoy is my preferred.

[–]RegisMK5 0 points1 point ago

PS3 with motioninjoy is what I've been using for a couple months now. I usually set it to emulate a 360 controller even when not necessary. It's just the best setup for PC right now.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, most roms I play require a d-pad, so that's all I commented on. Transforming d-pad? What's this?

[–]RegisMK5 0 points1 point ago

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Xbox360/Accessories/Controllers/Xbox360WirelessControllerDPad

The D-pad rotates to have 4 points instead of 8. I haven't used one yet but it's supposed to be a better d-pad.

[–]LitCactus 1 point2 points ago

I have one, and I have to say, the D-Pad is excellent.

[–]RegisMK5 0 points1 point ago

How is it compared to a PS2/PS3 d-pad? Have you played any emulators with it?

[–]LitCactus 0 points1 point ago

For emulators, I prefer the x-box controller. It gives more control than the PS3 controller.

[–]bluejacket 0 points1 point ago

maybe so, but i never use d-pads anyway

well tried it for mortal kombat and i can concur it sucks

[–]non00b 3 points4 points ago

should have been posted as a comment in the original post.

[–]MistahThorn 4 points5 points ago

Hey look! He posted a picture of an Xbox 360 controller! Not like he could have written that in a comment or anything.

[–]sonic301189 7 points8 points ago

Also a PS3 Controller with MotionJoy. Can use it for PC Games like an Xbox 360 controller, and for PS1 and PS2 with the original button layout.

[–]LitCactus 0 points1 point ago

I could not get that to work... :(

[–]arof -1 points0 points ago

If you tried it a long while ago on a 64-bit OS, the drivers weren't signed so you had to disable signature enforcement on boot. Now they fixed that, so it will work better.

Alternately, there are ~$5 PS2 controller>USB adapters and I'm sure you have a DS2 lying around.

[–]kamanashi 0 points1 point ago

That's what I use. And with an Android tablet, SixAxis Controller app makes it good for emulators as well if you aren't on ICS or have no USB port.

[–]BillyumH81 4 points5 points ago

I find this combo to be amazing. Especially for those of us on a budget.

Adapter

Controller

Sweet PC controller for under $10.

[–]kirbicide -1 points0 points ago

I have that same setup, except the adapter I purchased was from DealExtreme, and it had two PS controller slots along with a passthough USB connector. It was $4 including shipping too!

[–]ByTheNineDivine -1 points0 points ago

What steps do you need to take to get this working on a PC? Anything besides just plugging it in?

[–]PotentialNinja 0 points1 point ago

Just plug it in. I have the same setup and never had to install a thing. Best $5 spent (I have a slightly different version I got from a store.. has 2 controller inputs!)

[–]ByTheNineDivine -1 points0 points ago

All right thank you! :D

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

PS3 controller with motioninjoy emulating xbox 360 controller is far better than the 360 controller.

D-Pad..

[–]Kevers86 4 points5 points ago

except for the completely terrible d-pad sure

[–]Kessnerd 1 point2 points ago

I don't know how you got downvoted for that statement. It is fact that that thing sucks shit. It may be its only fault, but it's a glaring one.

[–]henryheikkinen 3 points4 points ago

This is what I was thinking too. In my opinion the Xbox 360 controller is the most comfortable one there is.

[–]Kennethnoisewasser -1 points0 points ago

You are correct, sir! The Xbox controller just seems to fit in a human's hand in all the right places. The sticks are less bulky than the PS3's, and the triggers seem to be a must for any shooting game. The bumpers seal the deal for just about any action game. The PS3 controller just feels too dated.

[–]drakefyre 1 point2 points ago

I've got a ridge of scar tissue smack dab in the middle of my left palm.

I can confirm that the Xbox 360 Controller (made by MS, specifically) is likely the most comfortable controller in the world.

[–]prboi 4 points5 points ago

The only problem I have with the PS3 controller is that it takes much more of an effort to hold. I feel like I'm actually clenching it with my hands because it's so small. The thumbsticks are a bother as well as my fingers constantly keep slipping off them if I play for while. It also feels flimsy & cheap like it would break easily if I dropped it.

[–]hallister -1 points0 points ago

not when trying to play katamari.

[–]henryheikkinen 5 points6 points ago

I wouldn't blame the controller.

[–]comatose_frog 0 points1 point ago

I found that using the xbox controller for katamari I could barely finish the levels, switched over to a ps3 controller and I have much more time left.

[–]LordCurlyFry 0 points1 point ago

I just can't stand having the dpad out of line with the abxy buttons. It's not right I tell ya! It's what's killing the 3ds for me.

[–]Pyromaniac605 0 points1 point ago

I know what you mean, I usually just use the circle pad rather than the d-pad.

[–]TheMagicUpvoteFairy 0 points1 point ago

I'm not even an X360 player, but I love the controller. Even though I have smallish hands. Not manly enough to grip it perfectly.

[–]Nevermind04 0 points1 point ago

Is there any good layout for using an XBOX 360 controller on a WII emulator? I just can't seem to get the full range of control required for even the few zones in Wind Waker.

[–]seanbear 0 points1 point ago

Wasn't the point of the original post that you could easily switch from mouse to controller without having to plug more shit into your pc?

[–]pfmka 0 points1 point ago

Xbox 360 controllers work beautifully for N64 emulation!

[–]exilekiller 0 points1 point ago

amen

[–]iglidante -1 points0 points ago

You know, I can never get my charge and play cables to connect my 360 controllers to my PC. It detects it, and then nothing works. No driver will correct it. I gave up.

[–]KFanPrecalcMan 4 points5 points ago

that's because those don't work. You need a wired controller or a special receiver.

[–]iglidante 0 points1 point ago

That's what I figured the problem was. I guess I'll try my roommate's wired one next time. Thanks for the heads-up.

[–]coontastic -1 points0 points ago

Also the special receiver is a piece of crap shit.

I ordered the receiver on Amazon, and after it didn't work I called Microsoft help(since it was the official Microsoft branded receiver). The only troubleshooting I was offered was to turn off my wifi and/or turn off all Microwaves/cell phones/sources of radiation in my dorm.
The guy said my wifi could/was interfering with the receiver's signal

[–]greedyiguana 1 point2 points ago

I don't know if I got a different one or something but my wireless xbox 360 controller works perfectly. I didn't even have to try and fix anything, it just worked after plugging in the receiver. I'm also about 1 foot away from my wireless router. Maybe it's because it's on a different channel? Have you check your wireless routers settings and make sure it's set to auto switch to a less populated channel?

[–]chewythecat -2 points-1 points ago

Did you know this stock picture was also used in Mass Effect 3's loading screen? At least in the demo it was, I havent played the real game.

[–]NoVaGuy -2 points-1 points ago

and Predator drones!
