Beware of trading scammers!

A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

"Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

Posting Rules

  • Posts must be directly gaming-related. Thus, "generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission; similarly, reaction GIFs are also not appropriate as submissions.

  • Following Reddiquette is encouraged

  • No "general" URL shorteners (bitly, tinyurl, etc). Single-site URL shorteners (such as youtu.be or fav.me) are allowed.

  • No game or product giveaway of any kind

  • NSFW submissions and comments must be labeled

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting:
    [X Kills Y](/spoiler)
    Result: X Kills Y.

  • To mark a spoiler as relevant to a specific game/topic, use the alternate formatting:
    [Player 1 wins](/spoiler "Pong")
    Result:
    Player 1 wins

  • Report posts containing spoilers not using the above method

  • Don't post users' personal information.

Submission Rules

Is your post not showing up? Do not delete it. Wait 5 minutes to give AutoModerator a chance to look at it; it approves most submissions automatically. If it hasn't shown up after more than 5 minutes, simply message the moderators and ask us to let it through.

Just finished this, probably the most i've cried over the most beautiful, simply executed concept ever.

I agree. I finished it late last night, and today I still have this weird feeling that makes me want to stop what I'm doing and just stare at the wall and think.

I've never felt that before from a game, except maybe some parts of Half Life 2.

I played it a week ago and there's no doubt in my mind that it'll go down as one of the best ever.

I agree times a million.

If this game doesn't go down as the next Shadow of the Colossus (I think it was even better than SoC) then that is a crime against gaming. I've never experienced anything like this game, ever.

I was thinking of the same "benchmark" with a friend of mine. Absolutely stunning. Played at a second time and it is still an amazing game.

does anyone else want to start a journey reddit?

[–]godofallcows 0 points1 point ago

/r/journey is taken by that awful band. And it's 11 fans. Perhaps r/JourneyPS3?

[–]CooperHaydenn 1 point2 points ago

sounds like a suitable replacement.

Great reviews and press, but it just came out... What'd you like about it so much? What made it great?

It's hard to describe without giving anything away. The "story" (if you want to call it that) is completely amazing without having to say a word.

The gameplay is fun, and it had some of the best music and visual style I've ever seen in a game.

I beat the game in ~2 hours, but there's no doubt in my mind I'll play it at least a few more times, and force all of my friends to play it as well.

I completely agree. It is one of the best stories in any game I have played, and there was not a single word written or said.

I think it's not the story that is so absolutely great, but the way that it is delivered. Sometimes less is more.

I just finished Journey... What a beautiful meditation on life. Seriously. This is an experience I will forever cherish.

The core "game" (I like to call it an experience) is about 1.5-2 hours, but I know there's a lot more to explore and do for the trophies that could make the experience longer on later play throughs. And yes, there will be later play throughs.

Here's TotalBiscuit's rough opinion of it.

dont think of it as a game. think of it as a journey that you are taking via a game system. i guarantee, unless you are someone who does not like deep things (spiritual, emotional, artistic, whatever), that you will love it. if you are into those things, and dont like it, i will pay pal you your money back.

Am I the only one who was pissed another player interrupted the first play through? I must say though, I was a sad panda when my buddy disappeared :-\

I felt the same. As time grew on you begin to feel connected to your traveling friend. Not wanting to move on without them. Amazing how this game makes you feel like this.

That's crazy. I didn't realize they were other players until reading this... But I wouldn't leave my companion/s behind, and they wouldn't leave me. Unknown faces and souls journeying with you by chance but bound together with you regardless. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Worth every penny, although I could see why others would not feel so.

I am tripping balls right now just finished the game, came to reddit to read discussions on it, and I did not realize those were other players. Holy shit

I wish they had an option to disable companions joining you. It seemed like everyone who joined my game already knew where to go and what to do, so they would rush ahead and complete everything for me. Definitely pissed me off a bit.
Edit: But at the same time, I'm looking forward to having a companion on my next playthrough.

I think you can just disconnect from the internet can't you? I have to say I had a lot more fun with it once I ran into someone. I could tell it was their first time, too, so it was fun figuring the things out. Was absolutely depressing when I lost them.

yeah i was lucky enough to be with someone else's first time as well. i played again today with someone who was experienced though, and i didn't mind that either. it was fun to be completely in sync with someone. also they showed me a cool little secret.

This game is a work of art in every sense of the word. Astoundingly beautiful and light-hearted fun. Definitely a game you must play multiple times.
