If that is Forrest, you should really listen to Forrest talking about fighting Silva. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1R50LpFh_M&feature=youtu.be

I felt like a kid trying to wrestle with his Dad.

Forrest is one of my favorite fighters because of his attitude. Silva might be that great of a fighter, but he will never have the class of a true champion. I hope I have to eat those words later on.

[–]heyimrick 5 points6 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Silva lacks the class of a champion? How so? He always seems respectable to me. Maybe I missed something though.

[–]Fyrefly7 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Yes, you certainly did miss something; that something was his fight with Demian Maia where he taunted and danced around like an ass for a few rounds, rather than quickly ending what should have been a very easy fight for him.

[–]baxter45 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

This time period is what I'm talking about. He had a few fights in a row where he didn't even pretend to try. Source for the Maia fight.

[–]tivo17 9 points10 points ago

He makes people fighting in their prime look silly. These are not just normal or aged fighters. These are world champions that he absolutely punishes.

[–]Deathbynote 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

The only fighter of real quality he's fought is Dan Henderson imo. The division he fights in is one of the weakest in the UFC and has been for a long time. Of course he's still a good fighter and i love his style but his opposition is making him look better than he really is.

[–]tivo17 7 points8 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Yushin Okami, Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen, Forrest Griffin, Patrick Côté, Dan Henderson, Rich Franklin, and Nate Marquardt. Every single one of those fighters is a big name which he knocked out or submitted. I think he should officially move up to Light Heavyweight and take on Jon Jones. That would be one of the biggest hyped fights of all time and will show exactly what Silva is about or if he has had an easy streak up to that point.

[–]NickLu 9 points10 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

They won't move him up and fight jones because of the epic badassness of that fight might crack the earth in half

[–]redtokyoboxers 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Cote lost because he hyperextended his knee on his own. He was still losing the fight to that point, but he wasn't knocked out or subbed.

[–]Elanthius 10 points11 points ago

Freddie Roach is his boxing coach... Figures.

We'll see how well he picks apart Chael Sonnen soon. Last time they fought, Silva had a broken rib from rolling with the world Judo champ. And he still won by submission!

This time I want him to knock Sonnen's crooked ass out!

[–]tehrebound 18 points19 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I saw that fight. Chael was in great position to win the whole thing, and then he made ONE MISTAKE. ONE. And Silva made him pay.

In Silvas defense, Sonnens testosterone/epitestosterone level was 17 times that of a normal man, the post fight drug test showed. Which got Sonnen suspended for a year.

[–]redtokyoboxers 15 points16 points ago

He didn't make ONE mistake, every time he had silva in half guard (which was the majority of the match) he was leaving his hands and arms completely open. He's just lucky Silva didn't do that sooner.

While I agree Ali was a master of his craft, there is a huge difference from these two fighters. Silva also has to think about kicks, knees, and holds. In my opinion much harder than just boxing.

I think you should re-watch the fight, Silva was going to lose on points anyway. Video here.

Also, how can it be a fluke? If Chonan intended to flying leg-scissor him and he did flying leg-scissor him, where's the "fluke" in that?

Not "without a doubt" at all. There are multiple guys that can claim argue that. Fedor, GSP, Anderson, etc. GSP has done what he's done by age 30. Think about that.

it is Canadian Bias. I'm Canadian too but I can get over it... Anderson Silva has been too impressive to ignore

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Alleluiha! This is the fight I want to see the most.

[–]FratDaddy69 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

100% Canadian bias, Silva has been at it longer, fights more often, and puts on much more exciting performances than GSP. That said, I still don't think anybody can take GSP's #2 spot until he loses unless he continues to suffer long-term injuries.

[–]HughManatee 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Bones has such a ridiculous reach that no one can even counter him unless they lunge in. I think it's like 84" or something absurd like that.

[–]tivo17 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

While Bones has an insane reach all it take is one missed punch and Silva will make him pay in his counter. Silva picks fighter apart and no doubt will punish them where ever he sees an opening. This will either cause a really good fight or a really boring fight.

[–]urmyheartBeatStopR 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Machida counter pretty well against Bones, until he failed boat it when he got choked by a bare naked choke.

Overall, Bones physique seems like an unfair advantage. His fighting skills are decent but they are tailor to his body. I would rather watch Machida, Silvia, or GSP fight.

[–]HughManatee 2 points3 points ago

[–]BiggityBates 0 points1 point ago

True.... do you have anyone in particular that you think could dethrone him? How do you think Rashad Evans is going to do?

[–]hroobarb 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I don't see anyone beating him for a while unless it turns out that he has a glass jaw or something. There doesn't seem to be that many promising light heavyweights climbing the ranks right now. I don't think Alexander Gustafsson will have much of a chance, for example. Judging by Rashad's fight against Phil Davis i think Rashad will lose decisively.

[–]mookler 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I'm from the future where the fight happened. Let me tell you how it went:

Round 1: Silva just kind of prances around Bones for the whole 5 minutes, analyzing his opponent

Round 2: Bones lands a few punches, and is immediately knocked out by Silva with a kick to the head. Ends at 3:43 of round 2.
